    Many years ago Fluke had an el cheapo line and was similar to these. They were convenient and fits in your service bag. If things got to hairy you pulled out their big brothers to do the job. These are great all purpose meters with a basic purpose.

    HI Darren, I bought one UT123D when ordering an UT 123.
    I was tired of another Smart meter, (ZOYI ZT-S4)(You have reviewed a similar one).
    It would not light LEDs which have an antiparallel protection diode . Other meters, even cheapest ones will do.
    Before storing it in the "retired meters for sale" drawer, I decided to buy a cheap UNI-T: I have some other, and I'm sure they work.
    My opinion is :Nice cheap small instrument, Precise, Easy to use
    -Good display, , I'm missing the foldable stand(why?)
    Instructions were in Chinese only. Too cheap probes
    Even mine does not light the front LED in continuity check. Thank for your review.

      @@KeepOnTesting I've used it for two weeks, and it works as I like, with one little bug :
      I prefer the "dumb" mode, but it has a defect: it defaults to AC volts. It is aimed to electricians, not to "electronicians".. It is a bit annoying, but I've see a really reliable operation. In the meantime, I've ordered a second UT-61(new version)
      Thanks to UNI-T

    Hi Darren, I just bought this multimeter yesterday after watching your reviews and it is really good. When switching this multimeter UT123D in RESISTANCE, CONTINUITY, DIODE and CAPACITANCE mode, there is low ticking sound every second make sure to put the multimeter back very close/touching to your ears, is this normal? • @numerical_error
    @numerical_error 3 года назад +1

    UT123 is a great meter. You get so much for less than $15. But UT123D has gone plus ultra. A lot of people would welcome the addition of current and capacitance modes. The diode mode is close to perfect. And the resistance range has doubled. Just like you, I’m a little disappointed that UNI-T didn’t utilize the visual indication on continuity mode. Also the NCV mode worked better on UT123. Other than that there isn’t much to not like about it. 👍
    Oh, and “Put that cheap-o against a Fluke” is a great idea for a regular segment. It’s not as destructive as bashing bad cheapos with a hammer. All in all, a physical punishment isn’t an effective way to correct behavior. Just shame them enough to make them think about their actions and to want to grow as a multimeter. (I’m in a goofy mood today for some reason)
