Thanks! I just picked up an MX5 and a pair of FRFR 108 cabs and I'm diggin' so far. That's coming from a bit of a tube amp snob! Your video was very helpful!
Great, I am not a guitar player but my younger daughter is starting with a decent rig; I already got her from Sweetwater an upgrade for her Squire starter rig, this time she wanted a Jackson guitar and a Marshall amp and it sounds really nice and clean, she also got a pedal board with 3 effects; whah, chorus and distortion from Boss but it so happens there is one of this in auction here as I type; currently @ 136.00 I am going to follow it if it goes for around $200.00 at the end and I bid and win may be worth it for her; the other day they sold a $900.00 looper from Headrush as well it went for about $300+ but that I thing would have been an overkill for her but hey! never an overkill when it comes to gear right? I am sure she wont want to get into this one but is because she has not seen this video! I am a drummer and I like this little gadget!
Thanks that really helps. Wondering if I want to use amp/cab simulation in the Headrush is there a way to bypass amp's preamp like plugging Headrush straight into amp's return? Or is there an option within 4CM to switch between amp's preamp and bypassing without needing to re patch cable?
Very nice video, thanks! Hey, here's a suggestion -- I would be very interested to see a list of your top 10 Headrush pedals. It seems that you and other content producers like White Boost, Eleven Reverb, Graphic EQ, and Chorus, among a few others. Which pedals are your other go-to favorites? Frankly, an average, intermediate, guitar player like me could probably get by using rigs and scenes comprised of combinations of just a few essential MXR pedals. I can't seem to find a good list.
Nice and detailed vidéo. Can you tell me if I can use same effect (or same type of effect ) more than once in the signal chain. For example 2 reverb or 2 delays ? Tks in advance
Is it possible to use the Send jack as a sub out and have the cabinet simulation on it for PA and the main out without the simulation for a physical power amp/cabinet? Or vice versa?
is it possible to insert a dynamic mic in the fx return and use it in a second chain chain along with guitar in inst input like for a singer guitar player scenario where mx5 is processing both the vocals and guitar separately ??????????????????
I got one last week and just recording direct to computer, but I need to connect my Scarlett Focusrite between the MX5 and the Macbook. Is there a way to just connect the MX5 directly to the Macbook?
Thanks for your other reply :) One other question: Does the MX5 have the new Headrush 2.3 firmware effects such as K-Drive (klon) detune, acoustic simulator, etc?
Fantastic unit. Earlier I was trying to build a minimalistic pedalboard using Line 6 HX FX, Mooer preamp live and a seymour Duncan powerstage 700 for stereo output, and then I watched your first video on this 2 days ago, and I’m seriously considering getting just this instead of line 6 hx fx and Mooer preamp live. There are however some concerns that I have, the first being the complete list of effects and amps on this unit. I’m guessing it’s the same as pedalboard/gigboard. Is this firmware 2.3? Also, how are you liking the output sound quality? Do you think it comes close in quality to other premier modellers? I mean listening to it on RUclips and you sitting in your studio playing this thing has a different feel to it. I don’t know why but it feels like for €499 it’s too good of a deal lol. Where’s the catch? I’m assuming you’re not sponsored by them, what do you think are the areas where this unit can/could’ve been a bit better? Really appreciate your vids! Subscribed!
A headrush rep said it’s totally compatible with the pedalboard so it has to have all the same effects/amps/cabs. I am seriously considering getting one for general use and to have a backup for my pedalboard.
Nice bunch of questions, but i wanted to comment on one thing. The price of this excellent unit is ridiculous for us here in Europe (as are many music related products)! You have quoted 499 eu & i have seen it on Thomann's (not that i would ever shop there again-thats another story lol) for 549 eu & via music radar which is a UK publication for 429 pounds! In the States its 400 USD, so thats a whopping 158+ euro difference. Yes ofc i understand custom duties etc, but unless Headrush release this at a realistic EU price, it makes more sense to buy a Line6 Pod Go. Dont get me wrong i would buy this in a heartbeat if it were realistically priced, for example a pair of Nikes that goes for 200 USD in the states, goes for 200 Euro over here, and this applies to most USA goods purchased in the EU This item is way overpriced atm, lets hope that with the passing of time, the price will drop, but they will have to move fast because, the competitors bring out stuff faster than we can get our heads around the latest drops.
Hi, I was wanting to buy this purely to to use the effects and not the amp or cab as I’ll be playing through my own amp and cab so I was wondering how would this work when you selected the amp and cab?.Also if I want my delay etc in the fx loop is there an fx block I put them in after it?.Thanks.
You would just build Rig's that don't have an amp and cab. As far as the Aux Send/Return you would just create an instance of the Aux module in your rig.
@@ThePedalGuy thanks. If I build a rig from scratch is there an amp block I need to put it which states it’s my own amp which I’m playing through if that makes sense?.Thanks
Hi do u know If there is a place where I can find the comprehensive list of effects available on the headrush units. I Dowloaded the headrush mx5 user manual and there was no such list. Tks
Man if you play that tone through a PA in a club peoples ears are going to explode. Love your channel not trying to be a meany. But that is harsh up top.
Can you use the dial to edit parameters like bass/mid/treb in the amp model? Sliding on the small screen seems too inaccurate. also, can you assign the expression pedal to any parameter in any effect? thanks for your help
Yes the rotary encoder will edit anything that’s selected on the screen. And yes you can assign the exp pedal to any destination. Tomorrow’s video will cover this.
Hi. How do you access and to turn on and off lets say 4-6 stompboxes when you only have 3 footswitches? Or will you only be able to controll just 3 stompboxes with the footswitches?
I’m sure that there’s a way to create interesting variations using Scenes. Or you could add in an external footswitch like the Ampero Control which I am digging into now
Thanks for sharing this very informative video. I am curious how the MX5 would work out with a Synth. Any thoughts and/or leads to check? Again, thanks!
How would I use this in a live setting? Can I plug it into a combo amp that's set to completely clean and still get good sounds? Or would I absolutely NEED an active cabinet?
Either way would work. You can use the front input of your amp of better yet the FX return of your amp which allows you to use the amp and cab on the MX5. You can also get a frfr108 or frfr112 active cabinet which people really like.
sorry for the inconvenience ... I wanted to know if the pedal has an activation button like a wah for example, or how the wah is turned on in a preset, thanks
Can't believe how quick and intuitive it is to get good sounds out of this

This is great. I just got the notification that my MX5 got delivered today, so can't wait to try it out with your vid!
Subbed, of course.

Nice 60's Sears Silvertone Amp. I use to have one of those.
Excellent.

Thanks. New HR vid tomorrow.
This is awesome! You're great! Great 👍! I just ordered the MX5 yesterday. Should arrive on Tuesday. Thank you so much for your help.

I bet this same rig can be made in the standard floorboard version too....... nice tone, let's try it. Thanks!!
Yes this rig will work fine with the Pedalboard and the Gigboard

Great work on the vid. Quick ? Can 1 use the pedal as a volume pedal so you wouldn't have to setup the boost footswitch during a solo etc...? Thanks
I don't quite follow. Are you asking if you can use the expression pedal as a volume pedal? If that's the case, yes absolutely.
Thank you Mr. Guy.

Headrush provides a full list of the included amps/fx/cabs/mics on their site. Just select the mx5 and click on the Models link.
How do you connect mx5 to amp in this video?
In this video I went straight from the MX5 to my mixer.

Press the first footswitch to select the modes. Then press and hold the second footswitch to get into set list mode
