When adjusting delays/bars, etc. within the MX5, I've found it easier to touch the adjustment bar then use the dial to change it. Much easier/faster once you're used to it.

Thank you for doing this. How do you connect the MX-5 (on silent stage) to the front of house mixer? The MX-5 has balanced out and the stage has a junction that feeds XLR cables to the instruments on the stage. Is a 1/4 TRS Male to XLR Male suitable?

Once I put in the tube screamer it all muddies up what's doing it? it's like it's over loading, is it in the out settings or in? or the amp or cab? How do you get it to not make alot of washy noise when U touch the strings please ?

This was a truly terrific video. I’ve just bought an MX5 after twenty years of playing guitar and never used digital modelling. I have studio monitors hooked up to the MX5 but have a suspicion I need something punchier - do you recommend passive or active monitors if that were the case? And any particular brands/models to be on the lookout for?
Welcome to the wonderful world of modeling! Studio monitors are a good option so if you're getting what you need from those, you don't necessarily need anything else. If you want something punchier for a moderate price: I'm really happy with a pair of Headrush FRFR108. They sound a little boomy on the floor, in corners, against walls (due to half space effect) so if you do get some, make sure you get them off the floor and away from the walls.

My current monitors are fairly entry level Mackie CR3 which sound really good for listening to music, but I’m not entirely convinced they’re delivering the tone promises of the Headrush. A bit of tinkering on the MX5 is definitely needed before I write them off though! And figuring out where the volume levels need to be on both the monitors and Headrush. Thanks again.

I have never tried the Zoom, but I think the Headrush is more powerful (can run multiple high DSP effects such as reverb)…and of course the touchscreen just makes sense to me
Does anyone know how to use a dual Ampero footswitch pedal with the MX5? I saw some videos with the M-Vave Chocolate, but it had an app for programming. However, my footswitch is basic, and I don't know how to configure it with the MX5.
Unfortunately you can't trust most headphones. I don't use Global EQ. In order for an FRFR to give you the correct bass response, it must be off the floor and away from the walls (you'll notice mine is on a dresser). If you still have too much bass after getting it off the floor etc turn down the bass in the amp model. You can also reduce bass using the LOW CUT in the IR, but I prefer doing it from the amp model.
Can you please do more tutorials on how to make more rigs and scenes and explain the parameters as you go, maybe start a course were we have to pay id be the first customer
@@forthecreator1 Thanks. Was trying to justify a Quad Cortex along with a custom made FRFR speaker for a modeler. I presume you could connect to a FRFR speaker with TRS or XLR jacks? As far as price for the Head Rush, it's a no brainer. The Quad Cortex is almost $1800 dollars US (Ouch) Sounded pretty good-You have a nice "feel" to your playing. Well done. As always beautiful tones with the headrush! Question, what strings do you use on your Gretsch? I have trouble keeping mine in tune. Have tried numerous strings and my next step will be to purchase a roller bridge and try that. Any thoughts?
D’addario EXL110 (10-46). I used to work as a guitar tech so I do my own setups. Without seeing your guitar…my best guess is that strings are binding in the nut (you might hear pinging sounds as you use the tremolo). Take it to a tech and have them use nut files to slightly widen and smooth out the nut slots. Some people use graphite and/or lip balm in the nut as a lubricant (I haven’t needed to).
No pinging unless you really go hard on the bigsby but it's not made for that. I have used graphite on the nut but it didnt seem to help much. I set my own guitars up also and the nut seems to be correct with my strings. I have 11's on mine. I like the idea of the roller nut but I dont want to change from it's original state if possible. I can break out the old chapstick and see what happens!
@@KevinIsIn5623 sounds like you’ve done everything right…do you have plenty of windings on each each tuner post? Wondering if it’s slipping there (mine came from the factory without enough windings and tuning stability was disastrous)
I'm pretty sure I do I usually fill the space and I use the under over and back under to help lock the strings in and I have a full to almost full peg usually. Not for sure of the proper name for the winding.... I had a set of smooth jazz wounds on it to see if that would help and it did seem to but I did not like the strings! I think I will drop string size to what you are using and see if that helps. I was told 11's came on the guitar and I believe I read that also. 11's are big on the saddles so it may be binding on the sides of the grooves.
Yes. At 10:40 you can see it says TOGGLE at the bottom. Touch there and change it to SCENE. Then when you edit that scene it will allow you to set the on/off status of each effects block. It’s easier to do this in real life, than it is for me to try to explain it here

I have an MX5 on the way but I want to use my own cabs and amp because I have a tube amp and then build a rig from that point any pointers do I need to shut of something ? And where do I go to do so ? Also which is Better 4 cable method or just place the MX5 in the front of amp or FX loop ? @@jaricklosey4607 I highly recommend replacing the pickups with TV Jones TV Classic. I also replaced the master volume pot with a CTS, as the original one was acting more like an on/off switch.

Plug it straight in a pa mixing desk or amp. I plug a hotone mp100n straight threw the line aray pa with mixing desk and unusable. Any one with any idea please
Line aray threw 8 Chanel mixer. With a hotone mp100n. Sounds no good. So have to lug the valve amp around. To much as only a duet .the clean sounds good but the distortion is terrible. Must be doing something wrong.
I find the default cabs and mic models pretty lack luster. I almost returned my headrush because of it. I decided to try loading some IRs and that was a big game changer. All of my rigs now use various IRs for cab/mic emulation. I've been messing with EMT140s plate reverb IRs as well and that's been interesting. There's a really cool shimmer on the EMT reverb plates.
I did return mine. I tried almost every preset and even spent hours building my own using the built-in cabs/mics. Sorry but it wasn't even close, it sucked badly. The selection of amps was slim and everything hi-gain sounded bad - really bad. The effects were nice and easy to use and the unit had plenty of processing power. But none of that matters when the unit sounds terrible. I had high hopes for this too, since it's Eleven Rack tones.
@@COTG666 I'm on the verge of returning mine after just a day of frustration trying to get a sound that made me vaguely smile out of it, so totally get what you are saying. 270 presets and about 3 or 4 that were okayish - that was off-putting to start with ugh. Think I might just get a Boss IR-200 as it does all the IR stuff nicely and does not overwhelm you with too much choice (most of which sucks sadly). Again I agree that the effects are great but the basic amp sounds are... are what? Hmmm... fake, processed, ugly?? Just made me want to stop playing which is the opposite of what anyone wants. Until I saw your comment I thought it was just me haha, so thank you for making me feel less alone in being disappointed in this unit. Hey ho, off to post it back on Monday I reckon.
Just to add - been watching a lot more videos and thinking of just deleting all the presets and treating the MX5 as a blank slate, importing some IRs and giving it a proper chance. It definitely has more features to offer than the IR-200 (which to someone overwhelmed with choice can be off putting but we'll see if I can change my mind with a few more days experimentation) but I'm not sure I actually "want" all those features/choices. Having spent 30+ years playing with a few effects on 100s of recordings, maybe I am just a basic bitch who is happy with the sound I know and am too much of an old salty dog to change my ways with these new fangled things haha 😂
@@martin-1965 I did delete all of my presents and just started over. The built-in presets aren't just bad.. they make it harder for you to find your own presets. I built 4 rigs so far and packed them with IRs and multiple amp models/effects. I turn stuff on or off with the 'scenes' hardware assignment feature. For each rig I try to build a clean/dirty/crunch scene or dirty/crunch/fire scene around an amp model. I've had good results with the modern dual rectifier model. But yah it took me like two days to build just one decent rig. The one saving grace it has is I can recall the exact same tone everytime.
@@COTG666 Sounds like operational error. That's to bad. Cause I have over 100 rigs that I built on mine w/ the amps that it comes with, and about 100 w/ IR's. Once you take the time to really learn how to use it, it's real easy and sounds fantastic.. If it didn't pro's wouldn't be using it.

@@NablusRain Yes. you can get good sounds with little effort. If you don't want to create your own, it's easy enough to download and install artist packs from the Headrush website. Also I provide download links for all my sounds...those are both better options than the factory sounds. However, once you have it, you will realize it's very easy to create your own sounds from scratch.

Unfortunately you can't trust most headphones. I don't use Global EQ. In order for an FRFR to give you the correct bass response, it must be off the floor and away from the walls (you'll notice mine is on a dresser). Which mode do you assign for your pedals?
I leave it in stomp mode: I can still step up/down rigs by pressing two foot switches at the same time

Can u show how tap tempo being use in live situation?
Hold footswitch 3 for 2 seconds. Tap tempo on footswitch 2. Hit footswitch 3 to return to normal.

I built 4 rigs so far and packed them with IRs and multiple amp models/effects. I turn stuff on or off with the 'scenes' hardware assignment feature.
For each rig I try to build a clean/dirty/crunch scene or dirty/crunch/fire scene around an amp model. I've had good results with the modern dual rectifier model.
But yah it took me like two days to build just one decent rig. The one saving grace it has is I can recall the exact same tone everytime.
@@COTG666 Sounds like operational error. That's to bad. Cause I have over 100 rigs that I built on mine w/ the amps that it comes with, and about 100 w/ IR's. Once you take the time to really learn how to use it, it's real easy and sounds fantastic.. If it didn't pro's wouldn't be using it.

Thank You for your response. No you weren’t going too fast only that I am thinking of getting the MX5 but I am not into diving into menus and scenes. I am a die hard ONE PEDAL at the time guy. Can get good sounds by pressing few buttons? Or factory presets to enjoy playing with it? Thanks Pal
@@NablusRain Yes. you can get good sounds with little effort. If you don't want to create your own, it's easy enough to download and install artist packs from the Headrush website. Also I provide download links for all my sounds...those are both better options than the factory sounds. However, once you have it, you will realize it's very easy to create your own sounds from scratch.

I am getting mine soon. I am sure you are absolutely right and I already heard about how great the factory presets are. I will eventually apply myself to diving deeper into the mx5.
