  • This came completely out of left field.
Back in early 2018, Napa began replacing their old Auto Xpeditor Leaches and Labries with Brand new Peterbilt 520 Wittkes and Labries. By August of 2019, nearly all of Napa’s old fleet of trucks had fallen by the wayside, either scrapped on site, or shipped off to other locations to be decommissioned, with only a handful of the original CNG Leaches and Labries remaining.
This truck was not something I figured Napa would consider whatsoever, so finding this was a bit of a surprise. Initially thinking it was a bus, I didn’t pay any attention to it, until I saw the classic yellow arm of a Labrie Automizer. Once I determined what I was seeing was in fact real, I followed the truck around for a little bit until I got into a decent spot to catch a full video.
Conversing with the driver, I discovered this has a been a work in progress for nearly 2 years, going completely unnoticed by the filming community and myself. The driver, who I have filmed a handful of times before, said the truck is very interesting to drive, and switching from a Pete 520 to this was very challenging. So far, I don’t believe the truck has a determined route, as a I can’t imagine any driver would want to drive this regularly.
Now for my opinion: It looks very interesting to say the least. The body/cab combo looks very out of proportion but it makes for a very interesting sight. Napa owns this truck, this isn’t a demo, so there will be plenty of opportunities to discover how much other drivers like it.
Without further ado, here is Napa’s new Dennis-Eagle Labrie Automizer garbage truck. Enjoy!

i was shown a few photos of this unit during pre-production around early 2021, and it was already in CA by the summer of 2021, though it got sent back to south carolina almost immediately after it came to CA for some reason. it was supposed to be a demo unit and I was offered to take a peak at it at arata equipment but it got sent back before I could take a look at it. kind of figured it would end up somewhere in norcal with the way it was spec'd but didn't know exactly where, so congrats on being the first one to record it lol

That’s very lucky. Pretty fortunate it got sent up this way; never would have expected to end up here though. It’s a shame I never knew this was being produced. We got some pretty interesting trucks in this neck of the woods, even though they’ve pretty much all been filmed. Ever thought about heading up this way?

Such a freakin oddball, good on u for finding it! Curious what makes it less appealing to operate? Looks roomy. Glad u got a very nice video of it!

Thank you! Just seems it would be quite a step from the Xpeditors and Pete 520s that Napa has had for the last couple years.

Weird seeing the grille hanging open like that, any reason? Overall I'd say the Dennis Eagle cab looks better than the Econic, glad Napa paired it with a solid Labrie body. If NRWS plans to decal the side of the truck it'll look better. Nice video!

Thank you! It sure is an interesting truck. Pretty sure the grille was open because it fell open and the driver didn’t notice.
