I'm having trouble getting the thermal switch out of the radiator. All my D connectors were solidified with mud, even after I broke one of the clasp/clip, it still had to be slide off with two screw drivers wedging them in and wiggling. First time working on an Audi, not going too well lol
Oh dear! Sounds like your cooling system is in a pretty poor state maybe best to try and find a new thermal switch instead of reusing if it’s that bad to be honest. Only other thing I can recommend is soak it in some WD40 and leave it for a few hours then give it a go
@@TrackAndBeyond right on. I will definitely get a second hand oem one from a junkyard. I put power to the primary fan and it wouldn't move at all. I hope that is all that is wrong. I'll see if I learn anything from my situation that I could post that will help others.
Sadly it’s a common issue for the capacitors in the radiator fan pack to go so you may require a new fan if you tried to power it up and got nothing. Might wanna grab one from the junker at the same time
@@TrackAndBeyond Once I get the thermal switch from the radiator out, should I be able to put power to it to jumper it to see the fans move also? That should tell me that the switch is also bad, which I believe is also true
I had lost a lot of money on this car. Originally bought it for £750 and ended up spending roughly £2,200 in total including buying the car and ended up selling it for £1500
Either need to get the AC system de gassed or you might be able to pull it away enough without needing to it’s been a while since I did this to be honest and can’t remember off the top of my head
The system was already empty so there wasn’t anything to discharge but yea if the system had gas you will have to discharge it and remove. Either that or what you can do is remove the A/C pump off the engine and try leave that in the engine bay when the engine is removed that way then the A/C doesn’t need to be touched
Probably took me a good 2-3 hours or so depends how much the car fights you! Like taking the front end apart etc if your just changing the fans hopefully shouting take you as long as you shouldn’t need to remove the radiator etc just pull the front end down and change them on the radiator in place. You mate have to drain the system and remove the radiator hoses to bring the front end far enough away to work on them though. Hope that helps Jason
@@TrackAndBeyond okay. I just did a jumper test on the Radiator Harness Socket. Only the High and Low Fans run simultaneously, Low Only Fan Operation Failed.
Looks like I have a radiator leak on my 2002 Audi TT Quatro. This will be a help. I also need to replace the heater core :(

The thing black one at the very front? Air con condenser
How can i put out the radiador if my tt hace AC?

Did you put new fans on also? How long does this take?
No still used the original fan took it off the old radiator and put it on the new one. Took me around 4 hours or so depending on bolt conditions etc

@@TrackAndBeyond Found out my Low Fan side was crap. Had voltage up to the fans but nothing was working Resistors are toast.
