- Recently this unique Dennis/New Way demo has been making its rounds to different municipalities/haulers around the Carolinas. I was informed that it would be making a stop in Columbia SC, so I made some plans and was able to capture this funky truck on its second day ever collecting. It’s one of the first Dennis ASLs in America, and generally one of a small amount of Dennis chassis here in the US. Dennis recently built a factory in Charleston SC where these trucks are assembled and sold here in the US. It’s definitely nothing like any other cabover on the market, but it drove very well and was incredibly nice on the interior. These and the Freightliner Econics have been making a push into the market recently. Over the next few years we may see more of these on trash trucks. Enjoy!
Thanks to the driver, and to Andrew Paylor at Amick for making this all possible!
Nice one. It is a good British truck. It looks lovely. Can't wait to see more of our British garbage trucks on American roads
yes
Thanks! Sounds like more are on the way.
Hey this was actually me driving this truck on that day😂😂 good video
Oh nice lol. I’m glad you were able to find the video. Thanks for letting me film!
@@hunterdawg89 no problem
Hey! That's a nice demo truck! Pretty awesome coming across this video of our Demo in action and a wonderful video you've put together!
Glad y’all found the video!!
Awesome video! I really like this truck, the Dennis cab is very unique, and looks great paired with a New Way Sidewinder. Great to see the driver lid flipping in this truck as well, which added a bonus to the video. Glad you filmed this truck. Great work!
Thanks!
I knew that Dennis also sell garbage trucks in Australia. And they have been doing it in the oceanic country for quite some time. But I didn't expect that Dennis wants to open up in the American market.
That's a great truck. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome bus dude! Lol but actually cool vid, interested to see how Dennis will do in America, and if Columbia buys some. Great angles and for a demo the driver handled this truck pretty well!
Thanks. I was told the drivers usual truck is a Labrie so this wasn’t too big of a change. Glad you enjoyed.
Gotta say this combo is unique. Definitely better than the Dennis PacTech’s up here in Minnesota that’s for sure. And that backup alarm is something I don’t like about it lol but the rest of the truck I like.
Great video this truck was definitely fun to watch with all the different angles you took.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed all the angles!
Neat! Truck looks pretty cool, nice video!
Great video!! Defiantly something I didn't expect for them to demo. And I hope they do end up buying a sidewinder or something similar, their automizers are falling apart. Great job!!
Thanks! Can’t say I expected it either. I hope they try out buying a Sidewinder as well. But with how much they’re against tip to dump bodies I’m not sure if they will. Glad you enjoyed!
Awesome video! Always great to see a video of a demo truck! Personally I’m not a fan of these, I think they should stay over in Europe where they belong, but I can see cities and municipalities buying them in the future, due to the visibility and safety features, because we all know some of those government workers need all they help they can get, lol. What’s the city currently running? I’d be interested to see if they bite on buying a few of these, because it seems like it worked pretty well for them.
These can’t actually be found in Europe or Australia/NZ lol. This model was created specifically for the US market
So we currently run a fleet of GS Collecstar 9000s, Automizer, and Pythons. We also have a good amount of Loadmaster Excel’s.
Thanks! I think the extra room in these trucks would be good for their RLs they use on residential with 3 man crews. Who knows if they’ll put any on ASLs of theirs. Glad you enjoyed!
@@hunterdawg89 they work great on manual residential, 3 man crews are standard but 4 is quite common here. Most we’ve squeezed inside a Dennis cab is 8 men (some sitting on the dash etc, had to pick another crew up after their truck broke down), with a couple more hanging on the side of the cab
I heard these were from the UK but I could be wrong lol, most cabovers in America are small ones like Fuso or Isuzu trucks, old American cabovers and garbage trucks, so It will be interesting to see how these compare to the rugged but dated Terrapro and whatnot
I can tell you that I can stand in a cab like that and I'm 6'5. Definitely compatible with tall people and so whisper quiet.
I drive that at my job no blind spots hood turning radius and comfortable and holds a lot more trash
I really like the way these cabs look. My only complaint is the fact that the windshield wipers look like they are right in the drivers vision when they are in the off position. That seems odd to me.
Thanks! They’re weird but cool looking. I’m not sure about the windshield wipers. As they become more common we’ll see if that truly is an issue
Is that a right hand drive vehicle??
Super cool video!! I wonder how much a new window would cost😂
Thanks! I was wondering the same 😂
dennis in US ?
The cab looks incredibly strange to me, as all the Dennis Elite 6s we have over here don't have a flat roof instead it's curved with orange beacons and over head storage inside
I noticed that as well. That is a change they made on the model they’re marketing here in the US.
Is that in the u.s
duh
Why is an Australian/England garbage truck in America
We are getting one new week sometime
A Dennis?
@@hunterdawg89 yep dennis with newway
Oh dang. Let me know when it shows up I’ll have to come and film it!
@@hunterdawg89 snellville driver gonna be getting it, we don’t know how it’ll do in cul de sacs yet and he is worried on that.
If only International/Iveco bothered to bring the ACCO to North America befored it got butchered
the ACCO is used only in Australia and New Zealand in Europe they have other Iveco Models that have simmilar faces with the accos and there are also some european Iveco models in Australia and NZ wish they also brought the ACCO in EU because is really a beast truck but i think it can't match our regulations that's why and it also can't keep yours aswell maybe if they design it to mach EU and US standarts then we might see it one day but in Europe we also have our own Beasts like The Scania V8 the Actros V8 the SK V8 and The V10 NG and LP and from the iveco we have the turbostar V8 the legendary trakker 410 the stralis and the Eurostar
@@Steve1766 Regulations definitely don’t pose any problems. I don‘t see why it shouldn‘t meet EU or US regulations like you said. Really not that hard to sell a truck chassis in another country, not like the regulations between the EU and Australia are drastically different, both very similar.
Reason for the real Acco never making it‘s way to Europe is that the Acco was always a local Aussie chassis in the first place and Iveco just bought International who built them beforehand in 2000 and Iveco already had a sufficient range of chassis in Europe, mainly the Eurocargo and EuroTech. No need for Iveco to bring the Acco to Europe if they already have other chassis variations in Europe =]
Do wonder why Iveco and MJ/Bucher never had a crack on the American market. An older Acco with a MJ body would probably sell very good in the US.
One thing I do wonder is the American part of the Aussie Waste company JJR Richards and if they would bring their body to America if they would win a residential contract. Would be very cool to see.
@@laurin4339 yes that's what i say about the regualitions the European and The American standards differ from oceanian standards that's why also some good european iveco models in Europe are the Eurotrakker the trakker 410 the Stralis the Turbostar powered by V8 the Eurocargo Tector or the plain Tector that is bigger than the eurocargo also the Eurostar has V8 and 520 HP the best truck in Europe is the Mercedes Actros 1 in 5 trucks registered in Europe is a Mercedes Actros and in Germany 1 in 2 the Actros is a very good truck powered by V8 that's why it's used so much in cargo hauling missions or offroad dumpers or 8×8 cement trucks it starts from 310 hp and it can reach to 750 HP that's why it used for such hard missions also for waste collections it performs well on the landfills 90% of transfer station are Actros also it is very popular as a fire vehicle nowadays the most new trucks registered in Europe are Antos and Arocs not so much actros but for cargo missions theu still use the actros but it doesn't have V8 anymore but for other jobs arocs antos most of new bin lorries are Arocs and Antos and of Course Econic but in my country i don't see so much new econic i mostly see new arocs in the councils also the most powerful trucks in europe were the Mercedes NG and LP with V10 such as the MAN FE only those 2 brands have V10 🇩🇪🇩🇪 no V10 Scania no V10 volvo volvo doesn't even have a V8
Looks really strange seeing an American body on a Dennis 😂 it's not a UK model though, it was specifically designed for America
because it's used in USA they fitted it with an American body and the cab differs from UK as you say because it's designed for the american standards that's why there are different regulations than in UK but the truck is imported from the UK but with a design to much their specs
It is weird to see haha
This thing looks straight out of Berlin
Berlin? 🤣 There aren’t any Dennis Eagle trucks in Berlin mate, they all use Mercedes Econics. Dennis Eagle is a British company. Unfortunately they changed the design (for the worse) for the US market
@@dickhead0423 I mean they look pretty much the same so what’s the difference
you mean britain
@@dickhead0423 yes they use Econics and MANs in Berlin
@@irvinerefusetrucks1922 “pretty much the same”? 🤣 completely different trucks to look at, nevermind operate. The only similarities are the low entry, good visibility and large cab interior
Omg it looks so cursed with a Dennis cab
