    My apologies for my voice, I am getting over the Flu. A few videos like this might show the residuals in my voice.

    I like how the new generation of star wars fans won’t just grow up with Star Wars they’ll grow up with different eras the hight republic, the prequel, the rebel, the mandoverse, the sequel and the new eras we’ll discover in the future movies/ shows
    It’s beautiful

    Loved this book, Mann’s becoming one of my favorite SW authors. Standout characters were who I’m assuming one of the mystery characters and Marchion. My #3 in my HR ranking. We are so back!!

    By the end of the High Republic, you should do a video that takes a retrospective look into the book initiative. What they could learn from the highs and lows if they ever wanted do this kind of initiative again?

    I read all of phase 1. Haven’t read phase 2 yet but I own all the books. This review makes me want to catch up, especially with the infinity war reference. I didn’t think Marchion Ro was a convincing villain until the end of phase 1. I’m very curious where his story goes. One thing I loved about Fallen Star is that the number of characters I have to remember is drastically reduced 😂

    I collected all High Republic novels so far but haven't read any. Yeah, that's me. But I have a question: do we now what happened to the Nihil after the events of the three phases of the High Republic? They seem to be an enormous threat, but (understandably) we haven't heard from them in later times. It would be interesting what the authors have in mind and if they find a way to weave them into canon. But on the other hand … we don't hear much of the Mongols either, and they once conquered half of the world ;-)

      We haven’t heard from them, so I’m curious what ends up happening to them. They may be saving any references until after they’re done with the series.

    I do hope that "Eye of Darkness" is also a parallel to the eye of a storm, in that the Jedi and Republic will start to get some wins from here on out. I don't want this series (which I initially turned to because I needed some optimism in my life) devolve into grimdark territory.

      I think it’ll get more heroic by the last few books.

    It’s a great read. Any chance you’ll do a more in-depth spoiler discussion of the book?

      Probably not, but I might talk spoilers for the High Republic overall one day.

    I absolutely liked this book it was so great can’t wait to read the next book. can I stick with just the novels ? What are the main books in phase 2 please thanks take care

    • @jonathankoan
      @jonathankoan  8 месяцев назад

      The main books are the 3 adult books and the 2 YA from Phase 2. You can stick with just the novels, it’s just up to you for whether you read only the adult or also the YA and the middle grade.

      I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to spoil anything, that was a pretty big part of The Fallen Star, and since it came out so long ago I figured it was fair game.
      Although, we don’t see a body….so you never know what could happen. 👀

    This is my first video I've seen of Jonathan Koan. I feel like Paul Dano can play him in a movie.

      I’d be ok with that, although he might be a little old for the role. 😂

    In your opinion, do you need to have read phase 2 for this book and how much does it reference phase 2?

    • @jonathankoan
      @jonathankoan  11 месяцев назад

      This is where it’s tricky. You could read the book without reading Phase 2, but there are a ton of references, connections, and tie-ins. And some worldbuilding things you’d miss.
      But you absolutely need to have read from Phase 1.

      It'll be a young adult novel, but most of them have been pretty good and mature

    • @jonathankoan
      @jonathankoan  11 месяцев назад +1

      Defy the Storm is a YA book.
