In real life a 12ga shotgun is by far the easiest gun to handcraft. As long as you're only shooting spreadshot you _don't really_ need a heat treated barrel because of the low operating pressure.
The fact that the carry handle on the AR style rifle doesn’t fit the top of the upper receiver correctly is honestly bugging the absolute shit out of me man my OCD is freaking the fuck out just looking at it 🙄😭🤦🏻♂️💀
It’s not even the right size to fit the rifle proportionally man. Looking at it is irritating as fuck but i can’t stop looking at it. Like seeing a midget in person or someone missing an arm. You know you shouldn’t stare and you don’t really want to but you just can’t look away 🙄😒
The handmade asssult rifle is based on the American AK build community, you buy a parts kit that has every part that was made in a Eastern European factory's that are the size of a small city. When you buy the parts kit all you do is buy a receiver that's classified as the gun and its basically just a peice of square sheet metal that's been bent, then it's assembled with rivets. The AK is a very hard weapon to make in a workshop and is suited to mass production. An AR15 (m4 m16) would be much more easy to make in a small workshop. Making an ammunition type specifically for a homemade rifle is a awful idea. Bethesda should have marked these rifles as imported USSR sporting rifles as they are imported into the US with a thumb hole stock, no muzzel accessory and a 10 round magazine then they are converted to rifles that look like AKs and can accept 30 round mags. .38 is an awful caliber for use in pipe guns as its a rimmed revolver round, I would say that if it was a fallout universe thing that's a metric version of 9mm it would be fine but NV had .38 for revolvers and lever actions, rimmed rounds don't work well at all in semi or fully autos. The combat rifle looks awful, they should have called it a civilian defense carbine and have it in 5.56 or .30 carbine and it should have looked like a NV AR15 or M1 carbine. The assault rifle is awfull it should be a belt fed MG in .308 or 5.56. They should also have a battle rifle that looks like a g3 or FAL in .308. Also they should have more revolvers and lever actions and just overall civilian and military firearms.
Had Bethesda had been smart and kept the old Skills, Perks, and Traits system of Fallout 1,2, and Tactics. Using the Skill percentage system to allow access to different perks depending on your specializations. A gunslinger perk that allows you to dual wield pistols would have been awesome.
I love guns. I love custom guns. I love Fallout 3, New Vegas, and 4 (somewhat… It has its flaws in the guns.). I gotta say… I love how creative these modders were with these guns! The diversity, the options, the creative thinking, the bat shit craziness to some of them! These are guns designed by some of the most coolest badass modders out there. These guys should be the ones working in Bethesda, and usurp Todd Howard. Least they care enough on giving the players means of variety.
Why you see more AKs might be because of the ease of use and production. AR15s need abit more exsperience to build and maintain than a AKM which is sorta by design as the Soviets wanted a weapon that was easy to make and maintain. Tho i do agree that its weird we dont see more AR15 style rifles.
Depends if it was machined because stamping equipment is not cheap but maybe since the timeline they have stamping machines avaliable? Not like you can't machine a AK but the design at least in the real world has had a Hardee time adopting to newer technologies like CNC
The select marksman rifle makes my head hurt. With a bullpup, like the one made mostly of bakelite which has an extended bolt to reach to the magazine, it could load rounds into the chamber from a seemingly impossible distance. But with that thing, the mag is TOO far forward, and extraction from the magazine into the chamber would be a nightmare to design, and might not even function.
Theres a mod called the handmade or homemade smg, it's deadass a luty. Decent customization options but could be expanded. Apparently there's some people trying to design good looking scrap weapons to replace most guns in fallout 4 which I greatly appreciate, fallout 4 needs more craft built guns that would actually function.
Some game companies will copy a gun from real life but change up the model and name slightly to avoid copyright laws. It saves having to pay license fees or getting into legal trouble.
Ok so 12 guage chamber pressure is actually lower then some handguns so it would actually be easyer to make a revolving shotgun then a full length rifle round like the .308
Man, I don't know my guns well enough to know **why** the handmade anti material rifle would blow up in my face, but holy crap does it make me feel like a sneaky, powerful sniper. Something the regular rifle just kinda fails on.
You know, that makeshift Luger P08 is base on the one found in Vietnam. Some Viet Cong or Viet Minh workshop make it, not sure how many were produces. Also I don't think you ever see an Fn Fal or AR-18 before.
I mean, shotgun rounds are rather low pressure. Even 10 gauge like shotguns in fo4 are supposed to be, there's a point that an NPC, I think the lady with the boy who's a junky by starlight, talk about loading broken ceramics into her 10 gauge shells, since she has a regular shotgun it stands to reason all are 10 gauge if hers is, since it's not like new Vegas with different calibers and bullet variants.
so, 12 ga is actually pretty feasible, it has some stout recoil but its actually a fairly low pressure cartridge, id be more surprised about it handling .308. For comparison, avg chamber pressure of a standard double 00 buck round is around 11.5k psi, average pressure of m80 ball .308 is 62.5k psi.
In my opinion select assault rifle looks more like regular military pre-war weapon than handmade, actually select assault rifle it actually could be a alternate history m16 version. Many vanilla weapons in fallout look like a altenate history cols war weapons, because it is, so that i like to think that select assault rifle it alternate version of m16 and it regular military battle rifle.

Also they should have more revolvers and lever actions and just overall civilian and military firearms.
The handmade rifles actually based off of the shovel AK project and while trying to imitate the same gun it does have a couple of notable differences
I got some jellybeans... you like jellybeans?
Yes yes yes brandyboy has released a new video
Why you see more AKs might be because of the ease of use and production. AR15s need abit more exsperience to build and maintain than a AKM which is sorta by design as the Soviets wanted a weapon that was easy to make and maintain. Tho i do agree that its weird we dont see more AR15 style rifles.
Depends if it was machined because stamping equipment is not cheap but maybe since the timeline they have stamping machines avaliable? Not like you can't machine a AK but the design at least in the real world has had a Hardee time adopting to newer technologies like CNC
I love for the AK, you didn’t even comment on how it’s missing a receiver cover
The select marksman rifle makes my head hurt. With a bullpup, like the one made mostly of bakelite which has an extended bolt to reach to the magazine, it could load rounds into the chamber from a seemingly impossible distance. But with that thing, the mag is TOO far forward, and extraction from the magazine into the chamber would be a nightmare to design, and might not even function.
Great vid! id like to see more like this
That shoe on the stock filled my head with all manner of dreadful thoughts and obscenities
Thanks for trying my pjar... pistol :P

If there was a mod to turn pipe guns into the guns from rust it would be cool to see with animations of the reloading with the pipe guns.
that design has been used, the ptrs-41 (the select marksman rifle)
that "I found the PJAR" comment too funny.
"It follows a similar design to the AR-15"
**shows picture of M16**
Ok so 12 guage chamber pressure is actually lower then some handguns so it would actually be easyer to make a revolving shotgun then a full length rifle round like the .308
brandy: "looks similer to the m15" *shows an m16*

OOH! DAT'Z A GUD LOOKIN' SHOOTA! COULD 'AVE SUM MORE DAKKA ON IT!
Man, I don't know my guns well enough to know **why** the handmade anti material rifle would blow up in my face, but holy crap does it make me feel like a sneaky, powerful sniper. Something the regular rifle just kinda fails on.
the AK looks like the Metro Exodus AK, love it
the select AR looks really nice actually
You know, that makeshift Luger P08 is base on the one found in Vietnam.
Some Viet Cong or Viet Minh workshop make it, not sure how many were produces.
Also I don't think you ever see an Fn Fal or AR-18 before.
My favorite was the zap gun, I use it in my game and it's glorious
3:45 I see at least 3 weapons that’s quite similar to that of the ones from metro exodus
The Select Marksman Rifle looks kind of like it would feed almost like a tube on a pump shotgun... however that would work.
It really hurts how good a lot of these pipe weapons that could have been looked
The select assault rifle looks like the service rifle from new vegas
uranium fever playing quietly on the last few videos i wacthed
I wish we had a better weapons system like this for New Vegas. I never made it to Fallout 4 or 76
In my opinion select assault rifle looks more like regular military pre-war weapon than handmade, actually select assault rifle it actually could be a alternate history m16 version. Many vanilla weapons in fallout look like a altenate history cols war weapons, because it is, so that i like to think that select assault rifle it alternate version of m16 and it regular military battle rifle.
God the concept art is fantastic and they did fuck all with it
