  • In September 2024, the SleepStyle will stop transmitting data via cellular modem.
    If you want to use SleepHQ to help manage your patients remotely, you can register your interest for our beta program here - www.sleephq.co... . Just fill in the form on the page. We only work with one clinic at a time.
    The platform is free for you and your patients and provides cloud access to their most recent 30 days of full-detail, high-resolution data & reports. If your patient has a pro membership (paid subscription), the clinic will also have access to the entire history and receive a 30% recurring affiliate commission.
    It works out to be $USD4.5 recurring revenue per patient per month, and it will help you provide that extra level of support that all patients want and need.
    We also wholesale our SleepHQ O2 Rings - www.sleephq.co...
    I have no problem with these companies using cellular modems if they make them replaceable. 4G was released in 2014, it's 2023 and F&P is just switching over now. Those who purchased a SleepStyle today will have a machine that can't transmit data remotely in 14 months.
    try.sleephq.com/ is my online cpap support community & cpap reporting platform. Master your therapy and improve your sleep with our powerful cloud-based platform.

    There is a company that makes a 3G to 4G cellular bridge.
    It’s supposed to work with all 3G devices, but I’ve only seen this being done with security systems so far. The system I used put the technology in a replacement power brick but it’s also available as a standalone unit. I don’t know the cost, but my system vendor sent it out as a free upgrade to maintain connectivity.

    Pretty important considering the costs associated with changing over once we lose 3G technology. Let the buyer beware. Thanks for sharing the "inside" information Nick!!

    The phone thing actually happened to my wife , her phone quit working because of tower updates . We were under contract with AT&T she made them give her a new phone because we were not at fault and they were bound by contract for her to have a phone that worked. Their update caused the problem , funny how that worked out they updated and my wife gets a new phone. BTW it was not just a simple phone call we had to bring up the breech of contract for them to see it our way.

    I think another factor to consider is what cellular provider that your CPAP machine uses. I think in Australia ResMed uses Vodafone (owned by TPG in Australia) which doesn't have the best rural coverage.

    It annoys me that these things are made to be become redundant.

    • @ross549
      @ross549 Год назад +2

      I don’t think it is a matter of the cellular technology being old and no longer supported and there’s no way to update the machine to continue to work as designed. That’s the pain point.

    • @XCHDragox115
      @XCHDragox115 Год назад

      In this case it isn’t necessarily the companies wanting to make it redundant but rather the need to improve our network technologies to be able to transfer data faster, cheaper and in larger bundles. To do this they need more wave space hence why they are shutting down 3G

    I have a Luna 3B and it uses an SD card backup and at app that reads its QR code on the machine. That aspect works great even if the app displays scant amount of info to lull you into thinking all is always 100% great. So your phone does the data transfer for it, cleaver as long as the app keeps working.
    I'd hate to be the ResMed buyer on the last week before they pull the plug!

    Once again, Philips seemingly tops them all with overall design. If you'ved removed the foam (and the inside of your machine is clean), then you're good to go. If you bought a Philips new right before the foam scandal exploded and removed the foam BEFORE you even had a chance to use the machine, better still. Either way-- no foam particles, no VOCs. Easily upgraded modem.

    For F&P the usb stick has a PC app on it that detects the usb stick and uploads the data to somewhere. So possibly a long term solution, since most people only will have a yearly appointment for compliance, and can upload it before the appointment. And my clinician also cant read the data - asked me to go to CPAP direct for them to email reports to the Dr.

    Are you nuts??? I don't want ANY "cellular communication". I don't "do" WIfi... I don't do 4G, 3G, 2G and especially 5G. I am EMF sensitive and I will gladly let a little old cassett tape or analog anything do the job. Oh poor me... I have to drive down to the CPAP shop... it would be so hard... Please do another video which tells us how to get a CPAP unit with no dirty electricity... no wireless crap... no radiation EMF issues.

    Bit of bad information there. If the radio isn't 4G/LTE capable on the SmartMed device, swapping SIM cards won't do anything. So either it has a 4G capable modem, or not.
    I agree with everything else you say.

    Just changing a SIM card does not switch you from 3G to 4G or 4G to 5G. That is related to the plan. It is the chip that matters for the capability. According to the website, Smartmed iDevice is 4G and 4G is not going away anytime soon. But if it did, changing just a SIM card would not get you on 5G.

      @@screamtoasigh9984 Mine came without an SD card, two years ago, and the data was transmitted via the modem wirelessly for compliance. No issues. An SD card in the AirSense 10 only provides a manual way to record data. You would still need to either transmit it or bring the data to your doctor on the card or via a USB stick file transfer..

    AirSense 10 Autoset (UK, London)
    Signal Provider: Vodafone UK
    Type: 4G
    I got this information from the Clinical Menu.
    It appears that Uncle Niko is Deviously promoting his Sleep HQ.
    Anyway, messing around with pressures is only till the patient gets used to CPAP. After that it’s not necessary!!

      Just for your knowledge. Airsense 10 was released in 2014. Back then, it had a 2G modem. When they shut down 2G it no longer worked so they started manufacturing 3G versions (since shut down). They later switched to 4G however, with the covid / philips recall, there were supply shortages so they released the AirSense10 Card To Cloud, which has no modem. Long story short, i'm glad you have a 4G, but millions cannot share data with ease.
      I'd hardly call it 'devious' considering you can use my helpful platform for free. Perhaps the word you're looking for is 'generous.'

    Actually, I don't care. I have had this machine for about 6 months and I am sleeping better than with any other machine I have had. Their process, whatever it is, is working for me. My sleep has stabilized and become consistent obviating the need to have the data reveiwed on a regular basis. If necessary, I can move data to sleep HQ or Oscar and get help if I need it. No other machine has had this success with their algorithm and my sleep patterns.
