The Falcons were up 30 by half, and all the other anchors were doing their thing to make you not change the channel. @Matt Beeman I would imagine there is not a sane football player that played during Bo's era that would not say that he was one of the best they had ever seen play the game. Frankly, the man superseded description and stats.

      @Matt Beeman lmao are you kidding, the NFL hall would be NOTHING for a healthy Bo. The even crazier thing though, is that he was an even better baseball player than people gave him credit for. Would've went down as the best defensive CF ever, and his swing was SWEET

    • @cobbler88
      @cobbler88 3 года назад

      NFL HOF probably a sure thing. Very doubtful he'd make the MLB HOF. His .250 career average would have been a problem, he wasn't a defensive standout despite the two- or three-catch highlight reel that keeps being beaten into our heads. He relied a lot on his speed and that would have started to disappear after the first third of his career. And, remember, we're not talking about Herschel Walker here. Bo was NOT going to get any lighter or faster. A one-time all-star whose best finish in the MVP race was 10th.

      Barry Sanders was a beast to in that game too (probably second to bo)...oh and all the guys with 81 strength or whatever...when they got their status to excellent, they'd buck everyone and run them over. It was so fun just running down field watching bodies pop up off the running back. Brad Muster, Anderson, Okoye were my favorites to do that with..
      But nobody, I mean no body beat bo in that game. Bo was so fast in that game, by the time the blitz got to the line of scrimmage bo was 20 yards down field LOL. He was literally the only running back in that game who could run through the blitz every time and not get touched.

      +Mac Smith I dislocated his hip. When he rolled over to get up he rolled on the same hip and it popped back into place and broke a blood vessel causing more problems. Than he got up and walked off the field as if a simply and a minor strain or sprain.

    • @dvida001
      @dvida001 8 лет назад +44

      +famguy9 Actually the damage to his hip was caused by overtraining. After the hit, his deep hip rotators were testing weak due to muscle spasm but the physical therapist incorrectly told him that he needed to isolate and strengthen them. Bo being Bo, he decided to train the muscles 10x harder than the PT recommended and ended up making them so hypertonic that they cut off the blood supply to his hip and caused necrosis of the tissue. All he needed was some targeted massage therapy to stop the spasms and he would have probably had a long career.

But for as great as mantle was and his accomplishments were, he could have went down as possibly the best ever if it wasn't for an early injury (and alcoholism further exasperated because of injury) We never truly got to see how good Bo truly could have been. Some of the stories and feats about him have gone down as legends. I've never seen anybody break a bat the way Bo could. Strength, power, speed, agility, he literally was the complete package on a beyond epic scale.... And he was just as good in both sports. Before injury it was Bo who was one of the best players in box leagues. Deon could never say that. Baseball, he was a good player but never great. Bo had all 5 tools and had an absolute cannon for a arm Deon had two at best. Still I don't think there's any argument that Prime is the best cover corner of all-time. My favorite Deon story is him coming back from some injury, the doctor or trainer informing him when asked about his readiness that "he'd be okay for the game, provide he didn't take a real good hit".
    "Then I'll be fine", said Neon, "I never really hit anybody anyway".
    Lem Barney was Deon Sanders decades before Deon Sanders, only he HIT people, and threw himself like a bowling ball into pulling guards and TEs two at a time, so the teammate behind him could make the tackle.
    Deon is funnier by a stretch and a good story teller when he isn't with his partner Marshall Faulk--like two giggly school kids talking over the straight guy, mumbling jokes to one another--not very professional, but funny gets mixed in there.
    They were talking the other day about CJ?K, Marshall saying he was done, basically (all off camera, while film rolled), and Deon sort of spoke up for him, gave him some cover, "He can still run", and Marshall said, "I can still run", or play, etc. Deon said something about Marshall's knee, and they backed and forthed, then he said, "Your knee so bad, when I look at it, my knee hurt".

    To all these people dissing Deion's tackling, you got to remember that Deion was a pure coverage corner, not that big, not that strong. What he did posses was the best footwork in the NFL next to Barry Sanders and Jerry Rice, along with blazing speed. It wasn't like he was a strong side bump and run corner like Rod Woodson. Deion was out there to neutralize the best wide out on the field, not to tackle or cover the strong side like a traditional strong side corner. You know what I never really liked the guy all that much and found him to be annoying as hell but he is bar none the greatest coverage corner of all time. And top five all around at the position. The only guys I think you can argue are in his league all around at the position are Rod Woodson and Charles Woodson.

    Bo was a better football player than he was a baseball player, but he loved baseball much more than football…dude is a mythical legend who accepted existed

    It's difficult to believe that Deion ever found himself in a situation in which he could be stiff-armed by Bo. Usually if there was a tackle to be made. Deion would either run the other direction or kind of inch his way over, sideways, with his eyes closed and a single tear already running down his cheek.

      Perhaps this was his indoctrination of when to “try to tackle” vs “oh heck no!” Lol

    Bo Jackson may not have the reputation of greats that had longevity like Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Muhammad Ali, etc. But make no mistake- for a period of few years, Bo Jackson was the best all around athlete on planet earth.
