I saw him play baseball against University Of South Alabama(which I later graduated from)when I was probably a senior in high school. He looked different(bigger)in his baseball uniform than the other players. He hit a line drive to the shortstop which would’ve been a routine throw out to first. He almost beat that throw to first. He quieted the opposing crowd down after watching his astonishing speed running to first.

To set the record straight Alabama was NEVER the visiting team in Bham.
I’m an old man born in the 50s and Bham has always been a Bama city no matter what anyone says. I lived there for over 40 years. Even if the tickets were split Bama fans would end up with at least 60% of the tickets.
Auburn understood this and that’s why they fought so hard to get home games on campus.
Even by the late 80s it was obvious Bham as a city was in decline and Legion field would never get the upgrades she needed to stay a gem in the south. By the 90s it was just unsafe to travel down there to see a game.
Breaks my heart in the good ole days we would park at Birmingham Southern and tailgate then walk over to the game. Auburn used to play their home Tennessee games there as well. First game I ever saw was AU v Tn in Legion field.

1983 Auburn played the second toughest schedule ever. Robbed of a NC.
2002 USC played the toughest schedule ever. While they were not robbed, they would have won the NC.
Combined those 2 schools went 22-3 vs the Toughest and 2nd Toughest schedule to ever be played. (Note: some 3-8 team Might have played a tougher schedule, but I doubt it, for sure the toughest schedule ever played by a winning team were these 2.)

It is approaching 2 a.m. where I am ATM. Let's put a period on this evening...I was 22 in 1983, having sat in the north endzone bleachers in '69 and heard my father "boo" the Tide in B'ham against Southern Cal. "I'm Keeeith JACKsnnn..."

Not a Tide fan, but give them credit on their red zone defense. They held Bo to just two TD. Both of which were not in the red zone.
He had 255 yards!! Auburn owned the game clock!!
12 of the 23 points. So about half.
