    My sister got me the Blue from American Express when I was 19. Other than a store card that I let go inactive, it was the only card I had for 17 years. Made all my payments in full and on time. Glad to say I have a credit score 800+ which came in big when buying a house.

I use my Blue Cash Preferred for shopping, gas, dining out etc. And my Rose Gold for travel, rental cars, hotels...both cards have been very useful, ive been invited to go platinum but declined, as my income doesnt warrant me having it, it wouldnt make any sense. AMEX is great, just spend and apply for the cards that are within your means and youll be fine!

      The banks are always managing and refining their product portfolios. One time they may be wanting to grow a certain product so they will be more lenient. While other times they don't want to grow or even shrink another product so they will be more difficult with approvals or even lower credit amounts and close accounts. That's why you should never be too overconfident if you're approved or overly heartbroken if you're denied!

      Noooooope, that just balances out for all the rewards, it's not making a huge profit most people with here cards end up getting more rewards than fees, credit card companies make huge profits off merchant fees that come from their cards being used, but those profits are null and void if the user doesn't pay their balance, that's why credit card companies like people to pay their balance in full every month, they get a return on their investment on time instead of accruing interest and possibly having their money not paid back

    Hey Adam, great videos about credit cards and finances, I really do value your insight. Would you say you're a bigger fan of Chase or Amex for travel? I like how Chase has a 1 cent to 1 point ratio compared to Amex's .06. Also cards like the Freedom flex are great. On the other hand... The luxury travel aspect for Amex is very appealing. I currently have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, I'm considering downgrading and going to the Amex Platinum along with their other cards. Is there a reason to hold both Chase and Amex cards? Can you get a lot of value of holding certain cards with both banks? Thanks for the videos!

    • @ProudMoney
      @ProudMoney  3 года назад +3

      It depends on how much you spend with your cards, where you want to go, etc. Amex fans like it because they transfer points into airline or hotel partners and use for luxury travel like first class seats on international flights. this is great but it usually means fewer redemptions because you still use a lot of points. amex is less flexible though because of the bad cashout rate or even buying regular travel thru their portal is less than a penny per point. i think the avg person would be happier with Chase overall, but if you like the thrill of the hunt for travel deals with amex points that can be good too.

      @@chriskelly4430 you’ll probably get the gold card. I’ve seen people under 650 EX get the gold card. Try not to have collections. 1 at most and you should be fine. Good luck

      @@chriskelly4430 I did not, trying to be conservative, don’t want to get card I won’t want to keep forever at this point. Gold seems like just too much for building my credit. I’m looking for a cash back replacement for my started BoA cash back card.
      Good luck my man!

    Hi Adam! Great info. Do you know what bureau AMEX usually pulls from and consider?

    • @ProudMoney
      @ProudMoney  3 года назад +6

      Not sure, many issuers pull from different ones depending on where you are located, and amex often doesn't hard pull at all if you have other cards with them.

    I applied for the Gold and Blue Everyday within a week of one another; I got approved for the Gold and denied for the Blue Everyday.
    Needless to say, I was pissed even though it was my fault.

    Do credit card companies try claw back bonuses if you cancel the card after you just received the bonus so you don't have to pay the annual fee, especially the gold and platinum or Chase Sapphire cards.

      After a year of having the card, they won’t. Just cancel or downgrade it during the 30-day annual fee refundable period after 12 statement cycles.

      I’m on the same boat actually with CSR/freedom and Amex blue cash preferred. But I really feel itchy to feel heavy “metal” Amex platinum.
