I have cards from Barclays, Synch., AAA, Amex, Discover, Mercury, Chase, FNBO, Liberty, Fargo, and U.S; USbank had to be the biggest pain, even giving low CLI.
Once you're in with Chase you're really in. My newest card from them is the IHG Premiere which I've only had for three months and they just boosted my limit by $6500 without even telling me. I only noticed because I was thinking of moving some limits around.
I actually consider Chase easy as long as you have good credit. They have rules like 5/24 but at least they are consistent so you know when not to apply. Citi is an enigma and you just don't know, which I think makes them a lot tougher.
I agree, & I had the same scenario. I logged in to make a payment & noticed my limit had almost doubled. 2 weeks later, I log in & notice pre-approval for several other cards.
Capital one and Amex from my experience are fairly easy. I have the Capital one Platinum (which got upgraded to quicksilver), I have another quicksilver, Savor, Savor One, and then the Capital one Walmart card. Have $38,800 in credit limits with them. And Amex I Have the gold card, blue cash preferred, and blue cash everyday. Have $32,000 credit limit with them and gold cards don't have a preset limit. Based on income and credit history from my understanding
>Your on a roll with the non-news topical like videos. >Discover is competitive in year one with the cash back match and retention and special marketing offers like the one you just got. >PNC give you approval points for having other products on credit cards. Not found that to be the case with Bank of American as much of an extent. >Capital One seems to throw out lots of security issues like you mentioned happens with Barclays too. >There is some intellectually back at you as comment.
Barclays is the biggest pain in the neck! It took 2 months to get their Wyndham Earners Business card. And after all that, a 2k limit. It was laughable! I ended up reallocating money from the JetBlue card over to the Wyndham to raise my limit with no hard pull. Thanks for your video! Always helpful!
I have 3 cards with Barclays and haven't had any issues although I don't use them that often. They do keep my limits a little lower compared to others but I've heard they really want you to use their cards all the time. Also I think Synchrony is a pretty good issuer 🤷♂️ I have the PayPal card, the Venmo credit card, and the Synchrony 2% card, and they all have 12k limits.
Barclays is a weird one. I had their AAdvantage card a few years back, and I took that card to Mexico, and it didn't work anywhere. Every merchant said that their terminal said "no response from bank".
I’m a Barclays customer here in the UK. I think generally credit is given on merit. When you listed Barclays as the second most difficult bank in the US it reminded me of the Frank Whittle story. I think in the US banks are more more likely to take a punt. Frank Whittle was British and was developing the jet engine in the UK. He needed funding for his invention but no bank would lend to him. He went over to the US where he got what I guess we would call today Series A funding. The jet engine was born and Sir Frank remained in the US until his death. Without US lenders we probably wouldn’t have had those early jets.
I agree with US bank being the hardest, they are the only bank approving me with a $500 credit after having 6 cards from other banks offering way higher limit!
Same! I got the altitude Go card for 4% back on restaurants. Wtf I’m suppose to do with a $500 credit limit?!?! discover gave me $8500 just a month before.
Penfed is the hardest military one. Navy Fed the easiest. You can get 5 card denied and they will give you a 5k card as long as you have good standing with them.
Chase has been easy for me, Capital One has been the hardest. I’m already a customer of both but Capital One is the only one of the two that has ever hard denied me for a card in a decade plus. And I have cards from all of the issuers at the harder side of your scale.
I actually feel you are spot on.... The only thing I might add would be how the banks act once a customer. I do not like synchrony because they will drop you available credit in some instances for things not related to your relationship with them. I bought a house and they dropped my limit from $3k to $300....
yeah its stupid, you're paying fine, no late and limit drops just cause maybe you came close to the limit after a big purchase or something, sheesh. Worse yet it lowers your credit score (if u carry a balance) as your utilization of credit goes up if the denominator (avail credit) gets reduced.
I've gotta disagree with the US Bank statement. I have the new Altitude Connect card, and no other relationship with US Bank. It's my go to card right now. Those 50k sign up bonus points were easy to get. Just use it for every day expense that I'd be paying by debit card. Then pay back each purchase. The card benefits are great. Complimentary Priority Pass airport lounge access, and 5x points spent on travel. Other than Sky Club access and companion fare, I like this card better than my Amex Platinum
@@secretchipmunk7maybe if don’t had a card for the past year and have low debt income ratio? I got approved without having any existing relationship with them
I just got into credit cards recently, and decided to get the Discover It card since I got it in the mail saying I was already pre-approved. I got a $8,000 limit and it really surprised me being my first card. I decided I would try to get in with Chase so I applied for the Freedom Unlimited.. I got a $600 limit 🤣
😂 Chase is very tight on the personal side with their limits. I have two business cards with them with $26,000 total credit. Plus Amazon Prime $4000. Applied for the Doordash Card and was given $500 😅😂🤣 🤦🏽♀️
Of the big banks and Chase 5/24 rule aside; Citi has been the white whale for me. I have had the Citi Costco Card since 2017. It was used all the time for years putting up to 50% utilization on there a good chunk of that timeframe and paying it off. Despite that they never approved either of my CLI requests. US Bank on the other hand, Cash+ and Shopper Cash Rewards within the last year. The Cash+ is used for Internet and Home Utilities bills and nothing else. It has never left the house. I just got the Shopper Cash Rewards. My goal is to replace the Costco card so Citi can go pound sand. Trying out the Shopper Cash for Amazon/Walmart/Costco and see how things go. Amex and Discover will probably remain at the top of my wallet. US Bank is putting up a good fight though.
I'm seriously looking into the Shopper Cash Card. I go to WalMart and Target quite often and will make that my default card for those stores! Along with the 3% on wholesale clubs and the fact that it's a Visa, make it's quite essential! I might try it for just one year to see how it goes!
I usually won't apply for credit if I know that I wouldn't be approved, such as when I had to max out credit cards due to a rough time in my business. The two times that I did get turned down were strange. I once got turned down on opening a margin account at a broker to trade option spreads, even with a lot of experience in trading them, because they were the first to actually run a credit check on me. The other time was when I applied for a line of credit from PayPal (Synchrony Bank), which I didn't even need, but was going to carry a purchase for 0% interest, instead of putting it on a credit card. The first reason... no current real estate loans/ poor loan mix. My credit score was ok, in the mid 700's. I did the purchase on my large limit business card.
I have never had trouble with them at all. I have both Personal and Business accounts with them and all bonuses were paid out, and whatever fees they may tack on were waived by them.
That's crazy US Bank is the hardest one to get! I just got one in March with a 14k limit. I'm guessing it's because I've had a checking acct that I use strictly for paying my mortgage, w/them for about 3yrs, and this is the first card I've applied for in over what feels like a decade lol 😅
Yea im surprised too. I applied for the platinum and they gave me $500, asked for a increase and they raised it to $5k. Probably cause i deposit weekly
I’ve recently opened six new credit card accounts in the last two years. I decided to take the gamble on US Bank with the altitude visa connect card, and I actually got approved but with only a 2K limit I don’t have a checking account or any other account with US Bank so maybe they’re lenient on certain rules for certain people when opening new credit cards. Only having a 2K limit is pretty ridiculous though.
When they say it will be 7 to 10 day's on approval is that a slow denial! I applied for Chase sapphire preferred I have a 776 fico score but this is the first time someone responded in that manner!

Amex varies quite a bit based on what card you're applying for. from easiest to most difficult: Gold, Platinum, Green, Delta Gold, Delta Platinum, Delta Reserve, Delta Blue, Hilton Cards (all lumped together), Marriot cards (lumped together), BCP, everyday, everyday preferred, BCE and CM. Amex seems to be pushing BCP pretty hard lately and preapprovals are showing up on rebuilding profiles well before BCE shows up. Other comments: charge cards are hands down more lenient on approvals from amex than anything else. 650 and you're in maybe even a 630-640. BCE and CM seems to be tighter on initial underwriting than other amex cards (CM needs a revamp badly fwiw).

I always had the Citi Costco Visa and the useless Citi Diamond Preferred MC. I called in for a "product change" to converted the Diamond into the Custom Cash MC recently. It took 5 mins or so on the Citi chat with a service rep. The Custom Cash's top category per billing cycle of 5% is pretty good.
I was just denied citi custom cash and my credit is over 800 and income also really good with virtually no debt. I’m actually pretty pissed off about it
I dont feel it would look bad, it might ding at first but give it time and as long as you follow the guidelines, your credit will build. Credit building is a marathon though, not a sprint. Just something to keep in mind.
I have the Korean Air SKYPASS Visa with US Bank...horrible card as far as benefits. Although I had no issue getting approved however as a Skypass member I wonder if that helped move the process along..
I have the Barclays JetBlue and the View cards. I have not had a single issue with them. JetBlue’s credit limit is very generous. Yes, people are correct about credit limit increases. I suggest you have a good credit score before applying, since you are going to have limit for a long, long time. Also, their credit limits require a hard inquiry
I have the red aviator elite MasterCard with Barclay and it initially it was a generous credit line. Do y’all think think a chase savings account with the minimum balance of $300 so I don’t get charged a service fee will count towards a banking relationship with chase for an easier approval for the freedom since I’ll only have 8 months of credit history when applying in a month.
I disagree about Discover. I had some issues a few years ago that were so bad I entered a credit hardship program. I paid them back, settling for less than full. Discover has blacklisted me.
Does having a checking bank account with a large 🏦🏧 bank, make a difference with apply for the their credit 💳 card. For example I have a Wells Fargo checking account, with direct deposit, for a couple of years now. Would that make it easier to apply and be approved for their credit card?
It could, especially if you don't have much credit history. But it probably only helps if you are keeping a decent balance in the account (maybe at least $250-$500).
I'll have to watch the video later. But my vote goes to Discover for the easiest approval. At least from the big banks. They gave me my first unsecured Card while i was still rebuilding my credit. And a pretty decent limit too, for a newbie anyway. Im betting Chase takes the win for the toughest approval! 😆
Another great and insteresting video! I totally forgot about my C1 Platinum card. That was actually my first ever unsecured card. The Discover it was my first rewards card though. And completely agree about Amex. When I got to a 700 credit score, I was surprised to see offers from Amex in my inbox. I was a little bit nervous about applying for the BCP card, but not only was I approved, my credit limit was twice what I had gotten from the other banks! I'll for sure be sticking with Amex for a long time. Great company.
I currently have no cards but I’m looking into getting one soon to build my credit. I have been banking with US Bank for five years and they frequently send me card offers saying that I have been “pre-selected” based on my account relationship with them. Is that essentially a way to say pre-approved?
Wow they have approved so many of my cards back to back in less than 6 months. Also they double & triple increase by making a call. Things could be different now from a couple of years back.
I was going to say Capital One just gave me my first denial ever for a SavorOne... reason... "too many active cards" 😅 I was at 4/24 however and instead got a Mariott Boundless
I bank with Chase and just noticed I have pre-approvals for 6 cards including the CSP, CP and chase freedom unlimited. I want a chase card but I am unsure which one to select?
Thanks for the helpful info! I just got approved for the Cap1 Venture X a couple weeks ago, I want that SavorOne next, when is it okay to apply for the SavorOne or how long should i wait to apply?
I didn't apply for the unsecured card even with my high score because there were many inquiries and open accounts. I applied for the secured with $1000 deposit to get 5% on utilities, phone which are my highest expenses. To me the deposit is like a savings account.
Which one is harder citi or us bank? I got approved for a US Bank 6 months ago this is my third card now. I’m looking for a Citi Custom Cash but I see so many people online with good credit and income get denied for this card
Question... I just got the Amazon Synchrony store card. Do store card credit card limits apply to your overall credit limit? In other words, do you have to keep the balance under 30% to make sure your credit score is not affected? ... Just curious because store cards cannot be used at other places like visa or Mastercard. ... Thanks for having an informative channel! I've learned soo much here!!!
I don't know why I listened this for 15 minutes. When you have score 830+ in all credit reports, no one is hard 😊 My only issue is discover card keeps my 1500 credit line for over 14 years 😢
@@Heart2HeartBooksNEVER close a card! What kind of stupid advice is THAT?! Closing a card makes your score go down bigtime! Specially if its that old!
My advice? NEVER use your personal credit for a business line of credit. Establish an LLC and get an EIN number for your business, and then use that to apply for a business credit card without using your social security number. The debts will be in the business name and won't affect your personal report (usually, depends on the creditor). You may need to provide a personal guarantee to start with.
I started to apply for Discover I backed out of the application when I realized my wife has them and hates the card. I received a denial without even completing the application. I called to dispute the inquiry and sighted the application was not completed in any way. No income, no phone #, No send on the application. They refuse to remove it. Ludicrous! They should be fined for this business practice.
I got 14k from Chase & 25k from Navy Federal Personal & 1ok in Business Credit Cards from Chase but Only 1k from American Express on the Personal Side. 😆 Thankful for them All.
Opening up a checking account and establishing that type of relationship will allow them to see spending history and if you set up direct deposit this could be a way to build up positive data points. Secured credit cards are a soild way too. Capital one, open sky, discover are good secured cards
I really enjoy watching your videos. They are very informative and you are a great presenter. I have an idea for a video, if you haven't already done it. Would you think about doing a ranking on how "forgiving" credit card issuers are in welcoming you back. My FICO ranges from 785 to 797 and I don't have any negatives on my report. However, in the distant past, I had trouble keeping up with my payments. Wells Fargo was quite gracious and has issued new cards to me (I have been a long time customer with them). However, CITI rejected me even though they originally pre-approved me. And I don't even waste my time on Chase, as I assume that they are the least forgiving.
I got one from them and it was a 500 CL while other issuers like Amex, Chase, US Bank were giving me thousands in credit (I have a dozen cards). Fifth Third closed the account for inactivity.
What's it like for Capital One if you've already have one of their cards, like the Savor One, and apply for the Venture card? Do they still pull from all three bureaus, then?

my first card was capital one and a couple of days ago i just got approved for a discover card
I did the same thing, got a quicksilver as my first card and 6 months later got approved for the discover it
Once you're in with Chase you're really in. My newest card from them is the IHG Premiere which I've only had for three months and they just boosted my limit by $6500 without even telling me. I only noticed because I was thinking of moving some limits around.
- yup same here. Chase has been good to me.
3 personal cards
1 business card

Funny- my Barclay is my favorite card- lowest interest rate and high limit. But then, Ive had it for about 5 years. Everything was different then.
didnt realilze us bank was so tricky. good to know
I have 3 cards with Barclays and haven't had any issues although I don't use them that often.
Since February of 2022, I’ve been approved for 12 credit cards. I wouldn’t have the 8 AMEX cards if it weren’t for one of Adam’s Proud Money videos. 😁
Damn you been on it.
Great video. The AA Aviator Red is tempting because of its 70k miles bonus just for making one transaction. But it’s issued by Barclays.
I have 5 BoA cards in the last 3 years. Fixing my credit
My first main card from having secured discover it card was the chase sapphire preferred lol
Barclays is a weird one. I had their AAdvantage card a few years back, and I took that card to Mexico, and it didn't work anywhere. Every merchant said that their terminal said "no response from bank".
had barclay before the pandemic; yes weird; like tech was never up to date or something; can't really explain it
I’m a Barclays customer here in the UK.
I ❤ my Discover it card!!!!

Same for me.
Wow ..Capital one has been easy for me and Chase has been difficult..
Same. Capital One is the elusive issuer.
@@davidcarp5935chase and Amex did that to me my 2 Chase drop from 5800 7k respectively to 500 each. My Amex from 3200 to 1k.
How you got a credit card but not have banking with them? It's their stated rule.

Adam, US Bank is trash and their customer service is horrendous. I like the idea of the other poster of cards allowing you to come back. 😊
I have never had trouble with them at all.
I have both Personal and Business accounts with them and all bonuses were paid out, and whatever fees they may tack on were waived by them.
Some good info here. Thanks for the video!
Great content as always, thanks Adam!!!

Amex seems to be pushing BCP pretty hard lately and preapprovals are showing up on rebuilding profiles well before BCE shows up. Other comments: charge cards are hands down more lenient on approvals from amex than anything else. 650 and you're in maybe even a 630-640.
