      There are equal beneficiaries
      at the end of divorce but in islam man had to say three times to his woman
      I divorce you and end their union
      Divorce is as simple as that
      But our faith we have been well
      treated as human beings
      and we must protect our
      civilisation What will happened to us if muslims took over and
      dominate us l would rather die

    Oh and re: the Bishop Saunders prosecution for sexual abuse in Australia, he's also known to have " misused" > $100,000 given by parishioners (in a very poor area) for grooming of minors, soccer trips, and alcohol for underage boys. Did I say heinous, it's worse.

    This grieving situation in our Catholic Church regarding sexual abuse is an old Dinosaurs it started a longtime ago, it has been the most damaging issues in our Beloved Church and most humiliating. Grooming is not just a pathological behavior, it started often in Catholic Home with grand parents abusing their own grand children. Sexullay abusing children is a hideous crime and the abuser love to revenge and make the church pay a heavy price for the traumas they have themselves been subject to and hiding themselves under the mantle of holy orders. Father Marcel, Marcel of the Legionary of Christ was not just a phedilfile, he was a psychopath who was protected by many of his entourage.The Catholic Belgium community is upset and disgusted and they are traumatized and humiliated ounce again by the long silence of a pre-historic hierarchy...disgusting I would say

    In ascribing the Belgium people as "jaded and cynical" you appear to denigrate them. Given the facts as you stated them, the Belgium people have every right to question the sincerity and effective address of the Vatican to its dealings with pedophilia. As an ardent supporter to Pope Francis and his vision for the Church, his refusal to deal quickly and effectively with this Belgium case leaves me with doubts about his ability to deal honestly with this heinous sin of the Church at large.

    I’m pretty impressed with your knowledgeable reporting of the case of Vangheluwe, an old case in small country. You missed the recent developments:
    1. The public broadcaster made a 4 hour documentary series with interviews of victims of pedophilia in the Catholic Church and family members of victims who committed suicide. The nephew of Vangheluwe who made the recording of his interview with cardinal Daneels featured prominently in the documentary. That was a first. The man never sought publicity. It was broadcasted last November and December and the impact on the public opinion was huge.
    2. It is an election year in Belgian. Political parties wanted to capitalise on the public outrage. The federal parliament convened a public enquiry that is currently going on. One of the outcomes could be the recommendation of the abrogation of the concordat. Nader the concordat, the state pays the salaries of the Roman Catholic clergy. That would be a dramatic blow to the Belgian church.
    3. Religion and churches resort under the Ministry of Justice in Belgium. The liberal party of the Justice minister and the prime minister is not popular. They try to energise their traditional voting base going after the church. Vangheluwe made it ease to attack the church and the pope directly.
    4. The bishop of Antwerp, Johan Bonny is the referent in the bishops conference for all forms of abuse. Bonny did basically the same thing as the justice minister: make the pope and Vangheluwe the big problem. Bonny went to visit Vangheluwe and begged him to ask the pope for a laicisation. Bonny announced later Vangheluwe wrote a letter to the pope but couldn’t confirm he asked for laicisation.
    5. After some months passed, the apostolic nuncio gave an interview to Belgian press and declared he was sure Vangheluwe didn’t ask for laicisation and that the pope couldn’t intervene without new elements that warranted a reopening of the case.
    6. This is unbelievable but it happened: the justice minister gave a live interview where he said Vangheluwe watched porn and announced this was a new element.
    7. The prime minister asked the nuncio again rather publicly to ask the pope for the laicisation of Vangheluwe.
    8. The pope laicised Vangheluwe.
    In short: the documentary whipped up the Belgians, the politicians want to get votes out of this, the Belgian church uses an Vangheluwe and the pope as a deflection and the Vatican is probably afraid what the abrogation of the concordat in Belgium could mean for the Belgian church and probably more importantly for the financial powerhouse of the German Catholic Church. Breaking the concordat in one EU country will be like opening a can of worms and other EU countries will no doubt be influenced.
    Greetings from Belgium.

    “Defrocked”? Why is Anglican terminology being used here? The Catholic word is “laicised”.

    • @susand3668
      @susand3668 3 месяца назад

      The word "defrocked" is an English word meaning the same thing as laicized, except that laicization is requested by the priest, while one is defrocked as a punishment, since it evokes the medieval ceremony of removing all ecclesial apparel. Wikipedia has a moving account by John Foxe of the defrocking of Thomas Cranmer in 1556 under Queen Mary I of England and Ireland, (and of Spain and the Hapsburg dominions as the wife of King Philip II of Spain).

    • @martincunningham5815
      @martincunningham5815 2 месяца назад +1

      The word “defrocked” has no meaning in the canon law of the Latin church.
      An appeal to a 16th century usage is hardly relevant and Wikipedia is not exactly a scholarly source.
      The word “defrock” should not be used in a Catholic context.

    • @susand3668
      @susand3668 2 месяца назад +1

      Dear@@martincunningham5815, point is, it is not an "Anglican" word, and it was used quite properly in this context. But why is it so important to you to argue over this one word?

    Synods are, and always have been assemblies of Bishops. There no reason other decision making bodies of the church, from parish councils to diocesan or nation representational bodies could involve lay people or lower clergy in decisions about financial or organizational affairs, (economia), but these are not synods... synodality" aside. In the tradition of the church, the pre-schismatic universal church, only bishops can decide matters of faith and order. Anyone interested in this should refer back to the presentation of the orthodox representative at the "Synod on Synodality". Debate on anything is one thing, and theologians, and famously merchants in the marketplace in Constantinople, are entitled to express their opinions, but only bishops in synod or council can make decisions on major issues.

    • @paulmualdeave5063
      @paulmualdeave5063 3 месяца назад +2

      These synods are not that type of synod. These synods are advisory bodies created as “Synod of Bishops” in the ‘1960s. You are thinking of the council synods like the 393 Synod if Hippo. These are two different things. Maybe one day they will rename this advisory body to avoid confusion.

    It is a shame that the Belgian population is allowing itself to be led as a herd into anger and public vindictiveness, encouraged by the enemies of religion or of the Catholic Church. Pedophilia is a mental illness against which the pedophile can hardly defend himself, especially since he is most often in denial. The fault is therefore not the illness itself but the inability of the people around the pedophile to detect this pathological behavior, to protect the children and treat the damages without public drama.

    JA on top form except the cold which sounded more like the throes thereof rather than the tail end! A trouper!😆
    While I enjoy the farcical, the lewd, the embarassing, the awkward stories as much as anyone, and the Belgian bishop fiddling with his own nephew - both of them, in fact, as it turns out - is as gross and cringeworthy as it's possible to imagine (compounded, if that's possible to imagine, by the repulsive old perv gaily continuing to dig his own reputational grave apparently TOTALLY unawares of the effects he was having, never mind on the victims and their parents, but on his own colleagues on whom he seemed PERFECTLY happy to continue to bury in tonnes of ordure, presumably the spoil he was generating not merely from his own - but from THEIR reputations too.
    The Catholic Church CLEARLY is so laissez faire even about so ghastly a sequence of events, that it doesn't evidently give two figs - about ANYTHING apparently. That it could leave the matter pending for so long that even the other bishops of that country are begging the Vatican to come and do the investigation even though it'll involve them all getting put through the wringer and likely each of them get a bollocking too when the paedo gets defrocked - is bad enough - but then to hurry it along merely because it would otherwise be "uncomfortable" for a papal visit (and even if not for that reason in fact, nevertheless it's likely that's what people will think..) shows an astonishing arrogance that is as far from "holiness" as can be imagined. Frankly, the whole thing makes me feel slightly nauseous and break out in itchy hives...
    ..as always, it's John himself who seems to provide the milk of magnesia and calamine lotion - again, the stories of scandal, sadism, sleaze and sex are titillating but I dont seek those out - i dont even like hearing about the government or the royals getting themselves in trouble - it's always here the heartwarming stories of grace, humility, sincerity, simplicity, authenticity and sacrifice - where the ions in the air crackle a little more sombrely - and which John so clearly relates to and empathises with. That's when I find I stop stirring the sauce cos i dont want to miss a word and then find I'm burning it yet somehow not really minding. Again, I get more inspiration from him than i do all the priests and prelates of the Church....

      Just being prescient. You have a serial abuser of a child relative, and he's going to seek NAMBLA people, and surely, he will have an adult significant "other", if for no reason other than to avoid arrest, and they, as a couple can indeed bop on up and get a blessing. That is all quite realistically possible. That is the Francis mojo in action. Just like the "couple" in Mexico with that well-known actor there, first they bopped on over for a civil marriage, and then bopped on over for a couple's blessing, and ALL with the approval of the papal nuncio. It's a papal sacrament: an outward sign, instituted by the pope, allegedly to "give grace". I think I am 100 percent accurate in describing the new papal non-sacrament sacrament. You have to realize the level of depravity going on. It would be nice if it were merely depraved indifference, but what we have is anything but indifferent, it's depraved interests in action. It is. Look at that old fairy that was molesting people for decades, what's his name? What a piece of work that guy is. I mean it needs to be said. After all they have an alphabet of names to use, and I think they should be used, queer, is one. Must be fairy in there somewhere?@@jimduffy7199

      That’s really bloody insulting to our LGBTQI+ Catholic brothers and sisters who resist temptation and remain faithful. Not all gay people are pedophiles and only in the Catholic Church are pedophiles predominantly (by no means exclusively) gay it seems… outside the church girls who suffer SA from male pedos far more than boys do
