These cichlids are monogamous, not conspecifics. Does that mean it can be kept in pairs from the very beginning or it has to be kept together seperated by a divider. Does conflicts happens randomly? What should be the length and breadth of the tank for keeping a pair of Red Devil's and what kind of tank set up required. External canister mandatory or top filter is sufficient for the tank. I am a beginner so i not going for an all out go before some practical exposure and experience. Red Devil's are beautiful, have personality and hardy, not for community tank..so i am picking this particular type as a beginner hobbyist.

Thank you for this video. ❤. I had first breed with My flowerhorn but unfortunately my Red Devil female laid eggs in a rounded pot and due to the large male size he was unable to fertile the eggs, so all dead at the end. 😢😢😢

Usually with the big cichlids you can tell the difference as they are preparing to spawn. The week or so before laying eggs the females ovipositor will come out and be visible. The male has a different, shorter and pointier looking tube. Once you know what your looking for you can’t miss it. You could also vent them If you don’t have the opportunity to try the aforementioned method. Venting is simply netting the fish and looking at the spot where the ovipositor come out. U shaped is female and V shaped is male.
