Today the new owner of the Nissan Z comes to pick up his new car! During his visit I gave him a ride in the GTR and made a brutal mistake

I did the same thing with my r34 GTR bro, such an easy thing to do, bloody getrags lockouts dont work well when bangin gears high rpm. I had the same symptom, it was the timing belt, jumped a few teeth (luckily before i had vcam installed). Probably should check your Vcam though, they dont like being revved till eleventy, especially Step 1 VCAM.

Not that far fetched, cold transmissions don’t always shift perfectly especially shifting fast at high rpm.

Damn that 2nd to 1st hurt. Ive heard many first time R34 owners has done the 2nd to 1st shift, some worst than others. PRP make and sell a Reverse and 1st gear lockout for the GTR.

Something like that you definitely stretched a rod or a rod bolt you don’t get away with money shifting over revering or anything like that when it’s a balanced pristine engine like that it definitely hurt something in the rotating assembly even if it don’t seem like it runs fine or runs fine but slightly off or the slightledt of vibration or something tone sound especially when it’s got a turbo or supercharger. That boost changes everything you’ll go to get after it and finish pulling the wrist pin or the rod will pull its self apart at high rpm right in the middle or down on the big end
you Def chucked a shim from over revving. Suggest doing a leak down test!
Check your shims and buckets. Might have spat a shim. On my RB28 Rebuild I have just gone shimless and longer valves to trying to minimise of problems.

Check the conditioner left ypper bolt. Might be too tight. Loosen it half a spin. Fixed. Your welcome.
We have been playing Catan for almost 20 years. That rookie board is hard sometimes. Hope all goes well with the GTR.

Timing belt might have skipped a tooth, throwing off the ignition timing and cam timing. It wont be a shim if it compression tested ok. Shim hold the valve open when they sit between the bucket and spring retainer, and would cause a miss-fire but also would cause a failed compression test.
Good news is that if it did jump a tooth, your valves aren't bent yet because it did compression test ok.

Drain the oil, send off for analysis. Drop the pan, check bearings.

Lol! Alright typically I geek out over the cars, but I gotta say something about the Catan game. Sorry Sabrina, unless you have development cards with victory points hidden, you ain’t winning. You’ve only got 5 victory points. You also have the thief slowing you down on one hex. If you can get rid of the thief and build some cities you might pull out a win. But buying a bunch of development cards might be a better way for you to win based on the hexes you have towns sitting on. Tough call… Teej! Your’e lookin alright sitting at 6 victory points - at the time you filmed the board. You’ve got longest road, although white might be able to take it. Some of your hex’s are stuck with numbers that don’t hit a lot, so that might be your downfall. White is sitting quite pretty though. Although the desert, might be starving him for recourses… buuut looks like he might be makin good use of his port… Hmm… My guess for the winners line up is white, red, blue, green… Am I right? Lol!
Also, kinda sounds like the timing may have skipped a tooth on the gtr (belt tensioners can only do so much after all), or the cam sprockets slipped from their proper adjustment… I don’t remember seeing footage about what cam sprockets you have though, and it’s been a long time since I’ve had my hands on an RB26DETT, so I reserve the right to be completely wrong. Lol! If you’re running VVT still, you might take a look at the phase adjusters. If you’re using the HKS VVT (valcon I think they call it?) you might hit them up and see if a minor money shift can cause them to have issues. Hard to say with out really diving into it first person though, and probably useless since you’ve probably got things figured out by the time this message even hits the feed. Either way, LOVE the GTR and the channel! Keep on moving forward!

Check main and rod bearings on the r34, whats your oil pressure? I 1,2,1'd my civic in an autocross, ran fine after but sounded like I need valve adjustment, ended up I spun bearings, and 2 auto crosses later it started knocking.
Lol. An over rev like he did wouldn't touch anything in the bottom end. IF anything he barely bent a valve or multiple on the intake side.
@@B_M_A have seen it myself. Valves smack the pistons & that force exchange transmits to the bearings in the rods. It infact DOES happen.
You need to get the Catan expansion pack to make it a 6 player game. Things will get real spicy lol
