For too long I was trapped in the cycle of working till retirement, spending 30 years paying a mortgage, buying the latest car, or the latest tech, and only having the end of my life to spend how I wish. I'm now in the process of saving up enough money for a small boat to go adventuring as soon as I can so my own life doesn't pass me by. I did the solo cruiser thing last winter - it was wonderful. Then back home in Colorado for the summer. I am heading down again for season #2. My wife tolerates this, she doesn't want to go sailing any more but understands what I am doing. You might think "accomplishments" diminish. You aren't "building" an empire while sailing. I beg to differ. I look at my boat and friends list as my accomplishment, I get immense satisfaction out of running a well maintained cruising boat - albiet she is kinda small. You will get a chance to share, help and enjoy life with other like minded people.

thanks for being a source of inspiration. being in my 30s now, ive always been searching for my way out into a simpler life. i remember the 90s where ive grown up, were much simpler already. partly thanks to you, i made the non negotiable decision to start my grind for the next 2 years, make enough money for a boat and sort out my health. i just sometimes lie down on my balcony and look up the stars and cant wrap my mind around the idea of working 9-5 for 40 years and then retire with some kids and a dog or some stuff. it always felt wrong to me. i can barely stay in one job for more than 3 years.. in the meantime, ill keep watching you living the life. im excited to step onto my own sailboat down the line and begin living.oh and dont worry, im planning to get sailing experience beforehand!
