      @@brainsmasher666 I already had Eructation on my collection and the rest are pretty affordable and they have been reissued. I hold my horses though, because I have already spent too much. But Revenant always comea highly recommended, so it's a must buy.

    I had that Revenant album on cassette in the early 90s! Later upgraded to CD. I remember Korova and Korovakill, good shout 👍
    I’ll definitely check out the Eructation, sounds right up my street. If Occult were on Foundation 2000 then they were in some good company with early Gorefest, Carbonized and The Gathering. Cheers for the heads up!

    Listened to Revenant back in high school 91 or 92. I bought it the same day I picked up Nirvana Nevermind.. now days I can't listen to one without the other. Somebody probably thinking eeewwww.. nirvana? Haha. I dig it.

    Love that Revenant album. Have only the second album by Korova, but there they went totally overboard with everything, liked it when it came, but struggle with it now. Both Occult and Eructation is solid stuff. Good picks. Make more videos like this

  • @krzystovmrozla2866

    Great video. There was a thrash blog I used to frequent many many years ago--can't remember the name--but he used to always praise that Revenant album. Never got around to listening to it until your video and the link you provided. I'm about half way through listening to the YT link you provided and it will play its way through. Not sure if I agree with no one caring about Demilich for 18 years, though. When it was repressed by Xtreem Music in 2009 it caught the attention of a lot of technical death metal guitarists, including myself. Their penchant for odd time signatures blew a lot of peoples minds. Though after almost 13 years of my own concentrating a lot of attention to the metal community on the internet--both fans and musicians--it seems like most albums and even bands have a lifespan interest of about 5 years. After that time there are so many musicians and fans discovering new bands and new styles, its difficult to remember things, at least it is for me. Especially if a band doesn't continue to release new material. So I love it when I see a video or an article or a FB post of someone paying homage to anything from the past--be it ancient or recent--of something I forgot interested me, or something I forgot to look further into. Thank you! EDIT: According to Discogs, Paul Ledney , the founder of Profanatica, once played in Revenant (not sure if he recorded anything with them though). And Revenant's guitarist, John McEntee, was a founder and original guitarist in Mortician (he plays on the demo) and is THE founding member (and only original member) of Incantation (Guitar and Vocals). And Ledney was Incantation's original drummer. Damn, I learned a lot tonight!

      Do like weirder stuff like the Korova or Eructation?

    • @krzystovmrozla2866
      @krzystovmrozla2866 4 года назад

      @@brainsmasher666 I honestly haven't had the time to listen to those yet, since your video reminded me of Revenant, but I listen to a lot of different stuff. Lately I've been on a old school death metal and thrash kick which I think was kicked into gear from this quarantine thing, but just the other day I was listening to Body Void too. It doesn't have to be any particular style. If I like it I like it. I know you showed The Irrepassable Gate by Ash Borer the other day and I love that album! And yesterday the new Auroch came in the mail. And I love Grant Green and soul jazz. Ha! I'm just always searching for new sounds, don't care the genre or the source.

    Occult are a great band and yes they are Dutch! I have seen them live and they were really good!!! There is a vinyl re release of The Enemy within which came out on Cosmic Key Creations! This album also featured Rachel Heyzer who went on to sing on 2 Sinister albums Creative Killings and Savage or Grace which are great albums as well! Cosmic Keys also re issued Revenant's Prophecies Of a Dying World on Vinyl!!!
    Cheers!!!
    Pete.

    OH man, Revenant kick serious arse. There is a new LP reissue of it, only been out a couple of months. Definitely going to check Korova out as priority, early Napalm Records was gold.

    I know what you mean on Demilich. I tape traded for that album shortly after it came out and loved it. But it hardly was talked about. I tape traded for the Timeghoul demos in the early '90s. I would throw that name out now and then and no one seemed to know who they were and the last few years I hear their name a lot now as classic band.
    If you ever get a chance there was a Canadian band in the early to mid '90s especially their '92 demo that was awesome there is a band that can go in the never gets mentioned category. They were pretty killer live too.
    I had a VHS tape at one point of one of Occult's live shows it was really cool, think it was around the time of their first album.
    John McEntee spent a few years in Revenant and I think Paul Ledney of Profanatica was in the band briefly too. It took me a long time to get into that album too. I wanted to like it so I would give it a shot from time to time and it started to grow on me.

    Yeah, that Korova sounds very good. I've been wanting that Revenant for some time. It's one of those old Relapse / Nuclear Blast releases that I saw in ads constantly that I thought always looked cool because of the cover art. I downloaded it ages ago and liked it a lot. Am I crazy, or was John McEntee involved at some point? I'm probably crazy.

    • @brainsmasher666
      @brainsmasher666  4 года назад

      Yeah he was involved as well as Paul Ledney. Glad you like the Korova. Been trying to shove some weirder bands at you and I thought this was a good 'n.
