- OK Guys, it's time to take a look at the BIG game tonight.. Game 1 of the regular season between the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs!! In today's video I'll break down their rosters/lineups for tonights game.. and talk a little about what happened the last time these two teams met during the pre-season!

Newfie Leaf fan here. It's gonna be a blood bath tonight if the referees dont do their job. Both teams are looking for the first one to kick start the season. You're absolutely right, rival season games, especially season opener? whew. I want the leafs to win but lets be honest MTL is a different machine this year. Sucks Laine is out. Just as a thought. The officials did a better job in the Boston/Florida game than anything I saw in the preseason. I hope the officiating for the Habs/Leafs game is as good. Sound calls, no egregious missed calls and no overreactions. 😊

While it is nice to see Heineman get to play the home opener in Montreal, I think St. Louis would be wiser to be playing Pezzetta against these 'new look' Toronto Maple Leafs. Berube promises a rougher, tougher team, and Xhekaj won't be much help if he is spending most of the game in the penalty box. Just saying. Go HABs.

So I was originally excited about the season.
Now I looked at the lines this morning and I was like .. um… this ain’t so good.
Why was I excited all summer long thinking that the habs would be good this year. Well anyways I put together my own lines. Let me know if you like it.
Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky
Kapanen - Dach - Anderson
Gallagher - Newhook - Armia
Evans - Dvorak - Barre-Boulet

Let`s see how Kapanen does in his first few games. I agree though. If the second line struggles and Kapanen shines, that could be a solid upgrade in lineup structure. Gallagher, Newhook and Armia were really good as a trio late last year.

Even though our #1 goalie is not suiting up tonight, I've got to say that I think the Maple Leafs are going to take it by three goals. I can't guarantee it, but I think the score will be 5/2, Leafs. I support all Canadian teams, which is why I don't really like to see two Canadian teams playing against each other. I am expecting a good game though.
