  • This was a 2 alarm garage fire on Fernwood Dr in Lapeer TWP Mi. The fire spread to a vehicle and a field due to high winds.
I left for the fire as soon as it was toned, and I arrived as the first crews arrived. Nobody was injured.
Agencies on-scene were: Lapeer City Fire, Metamora Fire, Elba TWP Fire, Lapeer County EMS, and Lapeer TWP Police.

Need Fire police to direct traffic

Fire police must be an East Coast thing. We don't have that on the West Coast. Local police or sherrif handle traffic.

Why aren't you guys drafting water from pond near house

I honestly have no idea. I know they were using a dry hydrant about a 1.5 miles away.

Then sometime fire departments don't want to draft from ponds cause suck stuff through hoses that will mess up they're pumps ,like grass,or wood,or trash

A dry hydrant is a known resource. Maybe they didnt want to gamble with the pond when they know the dry hydrant will work for them without an issue.

That dirt road sure is busy. Must be a lot of NOSEY people living back in there.

It was very dry at the time, and departments had been warning a high grass fire risk. Neighbors kept coming by to see if they needed to protect there properties. They saw the smoke and assumed a large grass fire. It is also a fairly close-knit area, so a lot of people came by to check on the homeowner as well.

Yes I figured it was NOSEY people. Check on there neighbor after the fire department has done there job. As a retired firefighter I hate nosey people clogging up the road.
