WOW...at about 1.35 I was thinking..'what on earth is the guy doing? He is going in???'..Then I remembered that's what firemen do...unreal job..total utter respect
ferd fernan yeah Stockton got it good the max of floor levels the most is 2 😊😀that's good for them they don't have to be real high up like in big cities near the coast but then the weather Hot😨 there
@@johnbeer5242 They have videos posted on this youtube channel of fighting structure fires at 5 floors and 7 floors (Roof fire, arson, set in elevator equipment house on the roof of an abandoned hotel). They don't have a lot, but a lot of what they have is abandoned or fire loaded and old construction and looks like Detroit style arson and manpower issues. Dangerous for sure.
I have seen a good amount of Stockton FD vids and they know how to get water on the fire. Too many FD's take way too long to get water on the fire. Great job Stockton F D!
I like the guy at 6:50 thumping the roof before he sets foot on it. This looked like a fire being managed for safety, which is EXCELLENT fire management.
We thank you for your views, support, feedback, and comments. Comments that contain profanity, incite controversy, or are intended to 'troll' will be deleted. This video is intended to educate the public on what Stockton Firefighters must encounter- not host a platform for people to argue about personal issues or the fire service. Thank you. We are proud to serve and protect the citizens and City of Stockton, CA.
SFH, I always enjoy and learn from your videos, I just wish that people would take your advice. Too many people watch these videos for all the wrong reasons. It's alright to point out where improvements could be made but the take away is learn something and don't use this as a platform to vent your frustrations or simply offer useless comments meant to stir the pot. It's usually pretty easy to spot the "trolls" from those of us in the Fire Service.
I'm a year/10 months late but I completely agree- every fire is different, our dept used to allow helmet cams but nixed them due to liability fears. Think of how many lessons the fire service could collectively learn if we had access to every fire to discuss learning points. Many of us don't have training burns enough and the real fires are getting less and less in many jurisdictions. We need another way to gain experience and videos are a great way to learn.
Kudos to all the members of the Stockton fire department. You all do an amazing job fighting the huge amount of fires your city has every year. And thank you for posting videos of your efforts. I’ve learned a great deal by watching.
Nicely done, Stockton. My only comment would be why it seemed to take awhile to turn off the burst line. That was quite a fire. Thanks for reporting this.
DAMN WHAT A NICE LOOKING HOUSE TOO....GOT NOTHING BUT LOVE AND RESPECT FOR EACH AND EVERY FIREMAN IN THE WORLD BUT ESPECIALLY IN AMERICA...THE COPS COME A CLOSE SECOND....
What does it mean when the firemen go to 'defensive' and how do the sides get letters. Is side 'A' the front, and 'B, C, and D' get assigned in a clockwise rotation, or counter clockwise rotation, or something else?
The "A" side is the side facing the street or the address side if on a corner, "B" is to the left of "A" when looking directly at "A", "C" is the back, and "D" is to the right of "A"-- so clockwise starting from the front. A "defensive" position means that you're focusing less on getting inside to the seat of the fire, and more protecting exposures (other nearby structures that could be at risk) and putting water on the fire from the outside. You would do so in a situation where there is significant collapse risk or the structure just isn't going to be savable. Hope that helps, and I hope my information was accurate. I'm sure there are plenty here with more experience than me, I'm more than happy to be corrected.
"Defensive" means they pull all the firefighters out of the building and fight the fire from the exterior for the safety of the firefighters - basically at that point they are usually just trying to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings. In some case they may go back into the building when the incident commander (IC) deems it safe. You are correct on designations of sides. In departments that use the Incident Command System (ICS), "A" side is the front (side facing the street on which the building is numbered (e.g. "1234 Main St."). ) With your back to the street, "B" side would be the left side, "C" the rear, and "D" the right side. For buildings with more complicated shapes, more letters may be used
"Going Defensive" means pulling all the firefighters out of the building and fighting the fire from the exterior for the safety of the firefighters. You are correct about designation of building sides. In departments that use the Incident Command System, the "A" side is the front or side facing the street on which the address is posted (e.g. "1234 main St.") With your back to the street, "B" side would be the left side, "D" side the right side, and "C" side the back. Likewise "D exposure" means the building on the right hand side. etc.
Yes, it did. Sometimes the risk assessment leads to going defensive when the risk outweighs the rewards. The goal is to eventually transition back to offensive though but only if safe to do so.
that is a whole bunch of fire and heat with a large amount material above. let alone center starway in those homes are narrow. if your 30s too going defensive make the call. that 30s saves lives.
FD plain and simple heroes. I posted on FaceBook today in addition to the men and women who gave their lives for our freedom, the police and FD who died in the line of duty trying to protect us, God bless you everyone and your families as well. To the living, thank you. God bless you too.
Pit Bull those tones come through the radio. They also use air horns on other videos. Air horn is used for immediate evacuation whereas command here was transitioning they may not be coming out until defence is ready
people and their unattended candles. Guy right around the corner from me, just a few months ago, left candles burning in his garage, left the house....up in flames.
Don't mind him. He's Mr Negative Nancy all the time on every video. He says he was a firefighter at one time. I'm sure he was driven out of whatever dept he was on because who would want to work with someone so god damn negative all the time? Go on virtually any fire video on youtube and you'll probably see him make a comment, usually multiple, telling them how terrible they are. "Hey Capt, you didn't fight the fire the way I think it should have been so you did it wrong" "Hey boys...what a fire eh".... *Enter JB91710* "Guys, you shoudn't be getting a rush from this. It's a JOB!. Go jump out of a plane if you want a rush*. Can you imagine that guy on your crew?
Looked like an awesome, quick knockdown in the first minute or so... until we got a look at the rest of the place.... Nope, ya can't always save them.... It was too big a house and too advanced.
Ronald Staples in most departments helmet color reflects your rank. Lieutenants and Captains wear red while firefighters wear black. Most chiefs will also wear a white helmet. This just helps them know who is who during an incident.
I love watching these Stockton guys - so darn professional, quick knockdowns - no standing around - go, go, go. 👍👍👏👏

It's hard to watch other FDs fight fires on RUclips after watching a real Fire dept. like Stockton. Very organized and doing their job right.

Thank you for letting us know what started the fire. THANK YOU FIREFIGHTERS for EVERYTHING YOU DO. PLEASE STAY SAFE!!!!!
great aggressive attack, nice to watch the organization of well-trained firefighters, thank you for putting your lives on the line every day!

Must of had the opticoms going- green lights all the way.
I think the 2 1/2" should've been the first line pulled. I love watching these guys work.

Give that first in nozzel man a raise!
The water just seems to hate fire better in Stockton!
One of the best stops on youtube. Charge the line, get inside

Awesome job. Aggressive attack on a very heavy fire condition on both floors.
Good job from FDNY brooklyn 👍🏻
The only improvement would be someone calling in the fire earlier. Good supervision
Now thats an aggressive fire attack by an engine company that nows how's to attack a fire
Engine 51, Squad 51, Structure Fire... (lets see who gets the reference)
Emergency!
I love how aggressive this department is. They do better work than any other fire department I've seen
EOS Fanboy u know why because the weather there is already fuckin hot😨😨so nobody wants to be there forever
That was the right call, by all means. Good job by all.
Well, it LOOKED like a quick knockdown at first... but once the 2nd floor and attic lit up there was no point in staying in.
D J looked like a flash over too.
Good video.....you can only do so much.....GREAT Effort guys !!

LELAND LEE I miss the days when I was a Volunteer Firefighter.
That was my brother's house. His son and him were trapped upstairs and fell coming down the ladder because it was so darn hot! It was Easter 2011.
May I ask what started the fire, and how many firefighters and appratus were dispatched to this fire?
This house has since been rebuilt.
It looks incredible too. It's amazing how it looks now compared to seeing it in flames in the video.
Good to know! It's a beautiful house.
Great Aggressive Firefighting !!
What does it mean when the firemen go to 'defensive' and how do the sides get letters. Is side 'A' the front, and 'B, C, and D' get assigned in a clockwise rotation, or counter clockwise rotation, or something else?
clockwise, A or alpha side/ could be accessible side/often the front, defensive is exterior attack. offensive interior attack.
The "A" side is the side facing the street or the address side if on a corner, "B" is to the left of "A" when looking directly at "A", "C" is the back, and "D" is to the right of "A"-- so clockwise starting from the front. Amazing job! What does it mean, this is now a defensive fire? did it get too dangerous to be inside?
Yes, it did. Sometimes the risk assessment leads to going defensive when the risk outweighs the rewards. The goal is to eventually transition back to offensive though but only if safe to do so.
That horn is awful!
How frequently do your men get injured while fighting fires?
Holy shit that went down hill quick!

ow do the guys inside hear the evac tones? We use the air horns as the evac signal.

Personal accountability report. Basically a check to make sure you know where everyone is, and that they are good on things like air and stamina.

looked like if they waited 60 seconds instead of 30 seconds they might and i emphasize might have had it better safe than sorry i guess

Red and white combination is designation for a truck company....
attack lines have some holes dont they lol. bet they took them out of service. nice job though!
