Can't stress enough the appreciation I have(and many others) for this channel. Please never stop doing what you're doing. You don't make a show out of anything, it's just raw stuff, the most entertaining, in many peoples opinions. Showing what it's really like, not fabricating anything, no fake stuff, just pure perfection(even the bloopers! We're all human, we're not perfect! And they definitely make for some entertaining content as well!). Stay safe out there!
Ditto 100%. One of the many reasons I’m considering going into the fire service. Thank you @South Metro!
Thank you so much for this feedback!
This might be one of the most well done videos by The PIO team the cinematography and the entire layout of the video as well as the quality and the great safety tips and behind-the-scenes was just outstanding
Thank you so much!
At a time when many Fire & Police Departments are encrypting dispatch channels to keep the communications from the general public, it's refreshing to see an agency so profoundly focused on keeping their communications and operations transparent and open to the public it serves. Well done SMFR.
Thank you!
No storage unit fire is a clean one. Man that just looks nasty. Dispatch did an amazing job, as always!!
What an awesome story about Patrick, glad he was saved and came back to thank the responders.
Outstanding video...the wildfire water pumping and swift water rescue segments, along with the new heart monitors, were fascinating. And I LOVE the outtakes!
Thank you!
As an inspiring firefighter I love these because it shows me what the job will be like!
That part where you are going over the medical response efforts was awesome. I remember the day back in the 70's and 80's working a volunteer ambulance service with the Life Pack IV, no heart meds, oh yeah, and no AEDS, but seeing this new cardiac equipment in use is unbelievable. I trained on the automated Resusci Anne which didn't allow for errors and eventually taught the AHA for about 6-years, but this new machine tops that in every way. So glad you are protecting the public with state-of-the-art equipment and professionally trained personnel. Unfortunately, our resuscitation efforts were usually unsuccessful due to limitations. Then I spent the next 34 years in as an RN. This man's testimony is what 1st Responders need to hear. SMFR rocks.
Guys, awesome job. Thank you for continuing to share what you guys do on a daily basis. Please stay safe and healthy.
You're back!
AWESOME JOB SMFD, et al! Great video Eric and all PIOs!!
I remeber this! Listened to it all cause I heard ur it my scanner. Also moved a LOT of stations up to different ones too
Same here after I got the pulse point notification
@@cdmartin194 Ohhhh yes I remember that app. Wished they used it in Omaha 🤦🏾♂️
Great video. Excited about the new series coming out. Love the bloopers
The ending made me laugh so hard
THE ENDING IS GOLD!!!
The new truck looks awesome!!!!
Another great PIO vlog. Good work eric!
Cincinnati is actually where I live so it was nice to see the Nati represented in this vlog
Yooo that tiller looks so cool!
Love the new tiller but we'll miss Rescue 34!
Tillers are the coolest ladder trucks
Arguably
Waiting for Eric to post more ride alongs on his channel too !
29:43 Hey that’s us!
Can you guys make a video about the search and rescue team y’all work with? Like a video about them or a day in the life would be really cool to see! I hear they do a lot!
glad you're back!
Just recently here in Australia we had a 7th Alarm warehouse fire 57 trucks attended
Wow!
These videos are great, I just wish you would do on screen captioning for the radio calls. They can be difficult to understand.
Will you be continuing with the station Saturday series?... they are really enjoyable and informative!
Love the ending is lol lol that’s funny
Can you guys do more day in the life
The dispatcher in the photos with the man in the end - the one SMFR resussitated after an MCI - is the dispatcher who "trained" Michelle Khare, isn't she? It took me a moment, but she looked so familiar...
Yes, that's her!
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO Thanks for confirming. Tell her she did an awesome job on that project! :)
YEAAHHHHH
Finally a pio vlog
Why doesn't the department use the Lucas compression device? Saves a member from doing compressions & is consistent
I guess battalion 5 is still using the spare after that rollover
Yeah, surprised they didn't mention that
Correct. The new F-150 for Battalion 5 is being up-fitted at Fleet right now.
Was the other driver at fault?
They are back! New PIO?
Plz plz do fleet Friday on new tiller truck
What stations will the new medic units be assigned to?
Medic 15 and Medic 33 are being assigned new units. The other 3 have not been determined yet.
Will there be a fleet Friday on Ladder 34
Yes, but it'll be a few months until Ladder 34 is placed in service.
Hey quick question do you guys have a form of accountability here in my county(this is on the volunteer side of things) we have a set of tags one you give to the officer in the engine and the other you give to manpower if your entering the fireground
SMFR incident commanders use an accountability board to track resources on scene. All personnel receive a daily staffing email that lists who is assigned to each unit for accountability of each person on scene. Some chief officers print that email and carry a hard copy with them for the shift.
Do we have any other updates on the new dive team rigs?
They've been ordered, but we haven't received any production photos yet.
You all doing water rescues and Phoenix Fire is doing 3 to 4 Mountain Rescues a DAY. Yes a Day in that heat
Yikes!
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO Yes on average 390 to 450 a year in just Mountain Rescues are done in Phoenix.
Please look into the new Zoll CPR quality measurement. In the UK we have had similar things that actually caused more patient harm as the puck that is stuck to the chest would tear the skin underneath. We have now stopped using this and only use it during training exercises.
Thank you for your suggestion, we'll share it with SMFR EMS.
Single engine company for a commercial fire alarm. Reasoning behind that?
SMFR Operations moved to a single engine/aerial response for most commercial fire alarms in 2020 or 2021. That decision was based on the low frequency of fire alarms that present as a working structure fire on arrival, and the desire to keep resources available for other incidents. Water flow alarm activation's, alarms in high occupancy buildings, and target hazards like hospitals receive a 2 engines/aerial response and sometimes a Battalion Chief is also assigned, especially in buildings with known radio communication problems.
what do the first,2nd and 3rd smfr engines do at a fire as they arrive
SMFR doesn't pre-assign tasks to engines, their assignments are given by incident command based on the critical factors of the incident. Generally though, the 2nd due engine will anticipate the need to complete water supply and potentially advance a back up hose line. Next arriving engines plan to level 1 stage until an assignment is given.
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO Thank you
Who is safety 2
Former Safety 35, moved to STA44 and renamed Safety 2, Safety 18 was renamed safety 1 to match the BCs and MED units
Finally
Any updates on the new dive rescues or the new boat?
Orders for those units have been placed, but it'll be a while until we have production photos.
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO is boat 16 going to very similar to 31's boat?
When are we going to get some more station tour videos or fun videos like that?
Is Ladder 34 a Quiller or a True Truck?
Ladder 34 has a 300 gallon water tank, 2 cross-lays and some 5" supply line.
quick question, why not cut the locks instead of spending extra minutes cutting doors, cutting the doors 3X opening the doors would give no more O2 to the fire ....Just a QUESTION
cutting the doors is faster than getting bolt cutters to break open those locks. doors also might be sealed by pressure. it'd also require a firefighter to be directly in front of the door while opening it for a relatively long period of time. overall, you're just better off grabbing a saw and cutting through the door
Grüße aus Harburg✌🏻 Viel Spaß mit den Patches und danke für die netten Worte!🚒🚑
When is fleet Friday
Probably not for a while since it needs to be put in service and then it will be probably another month once they record which is after it gets put in service
I'm curious. I installed the Pulse app, and I keep noticing a unit labeled smfops3. What does that stand for? I know the SM is South Metro, but what about the FOPS3?
SMFOPS3 (South Metro Fire Ops 3) It's the radio channel assigned to an incident. They have multiple ops channels so you might see Ops 3, 5, 7, 9 etc. For some reason they're odd numbers until they get in the teens which are mostly all training channels.
@@pc6400 Exactly. The even numbers are "Fire Ground Channels" 4, 6, 8 and 10. Those are 800MHz simplex radio frequencies used when repeater coverage is inadequate or for communications in small geographic areas of an incident between crews working in a division, group or sector.
SMFR hires EMTs?
Yes. SMFR employs Firefighter EMT Basic, and Firefighter Paramedics.
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO nice! 😊
