    Price is a funny thing. People will spend as much eating at McDonalds and think nothing of it. After spending what I have on my motorcycle (and other vehicles), I don’t mind spending a few bucks to take care of them. That said we all have our priorities and biases. Nice review!

      Just how people justify money in general is funny. I sell Amsoil to a millionaire lobster fisherman for his two Harley's, but he puts no-name oil from the local convenience store in his boat engine, a Cummins X15. I can't figure it out.

      There is also something to be said for spending your money wisely. This is a decent filter, but it is nothing special and thus severely overpriced at $32. You can get at least 3 equivalent Purolator Bosses for that price. And they are probably better too.

    • @crazybillsgarage
      @crazybillsgarage  9 месяцев назад +1

      @moshet842 I agree some filters are not worth the money. Sadly it's the name on the filter and how much it is advertised that makes them look better than others.

    I don’t know where your friend purchased that oil filter but they got ripped off.
    I ordered my oil filter directly from Amsoil when I order my oil and I pay around $15 for the filter which is still rather expensive but not any more than any other high quality oil filter.

    • @crazybillsgarage

      In Canada we pay always more than our neighbors to the south. If you do live in the USA then I understand why you would pay less.

    • @Balticblue93

      The Preferred accounts get dealer costs and most filters are $15-17 dollars. But the Fram Endurance and the Royal Purple filter Extended life is all the same filter with different exterior branding. But When I order my Amsoil, I order filters too. Any oil filter made by Champion labs with a full Synthetic filter media and fully Synthetic oil is pretty much the same besides the additive package. I could bore you to death, but I still have about a year of oil changes between all cars to have a database that can be compared fairly. I don't do extended oil changes. I do favorite suggested or by the oil change counter/reminder.
      My Hybrid Ford Fusion has 10k mile oil changes. I change the filter at 5k miles as a test. Our other two vehicles and our service van for HVAC gets 5000-6000 mile oil changes. Need it to last forever.

    Definitely a top tier FRAM filter. The silicone anti drain back and the bypass valves are the same as FRAM. The mesh backed synthetic fiber element is as well. Other than appearing sloppy, what is the drawback of the excessive glue? I hear that comment often in the filter videos. If that glue could be broken down by hot motor oil it would not be used in the construction of oil filters. Great video, btw. Thanks for sharing it.

      @@crazybillsgarage I wasn't implying that necessarily that there wasn't good filters out there made by other manufactures, since there are not that many true assembly brands that put different labels and Colors. Champion labs wins this round for me, but Mann+Hummel makes good filters including WIX, Purolator, but also a ton of foreign brands they do not sell in the USA. I haven't heard of a lot of them. Most car enthusists don't have a clue what they are actually using or putting in their engine. Great advertising doesn't make a great product. But any full Synthetic media filter will do about as good as the next. But I have do dozens of hours of research on oils, filters, and various vehicles with oil analysis. I will be sending them to Boss Ford Me and maybe my own channel, but who has time for that?

    Not sure on who makes it as well, but they do import from Baldwin, Hastings and others. I think the only ones that Amsoil produces themselves are air filters. At least here state side you can get em down to around 19 or so a filter if you buy a case of 12 of them. And if you're going by the full claimed lifespan of the filters that's gonna get you 180,000 miles or nearly 290,000 km. So at least you'd never have to go looking for more filters for a good long while.

Look if you are at all like me and change your Oil under 2000K, Like I do mine every 1500 miles and people laugh at me. But every 1500 there's brand new oil with a brand new filter in my car... That to me is way better than spending double to triple the money and waiting to over 5k to 10K to change out Burnt Black oil. If you just get into the habit of changing your oil every 2000 to 3000, there wouldn't be a need to buy $20 filter's and $50 for 5 quart jugs..
