When changing to a better quality oil like Amsoil, especially with a dirty or neglected engine, please allow time for the higher detergency oil to clean out hard deposits, AND change the filter more often during the first year.
You can even start with one quart of Amsoil Signature with the rest store bought oil for the first two oil change intervals. Change oil sooner for those first two oil changes, like 2-3K miles. And use a fuel additive which cleans the piston rings during that time. You will be glad you did this!.

The oil is a cleaning oil for sure and it is very high heat transfer to the cooling system. The other thing is that is sticks to engine bearing surfaces and takes the loads too. It is best oil for any engine. Please use oil analysis at every oil change, it is worth the money plus you can see how your engine is doing.

First time is used signature 0W-20 after 4000 miles the oil is very black. Before that I had the Chevy dealer changing the oil in my 5.3 Silverado. I wanted to make sure they were using Mobil1. They never said the brand other than it’s Dexos. I just decided to do the oil myself from now on. I’m using the signature 0W-20. I also put Amsoil in my Transmission, Transfer case, front and rear differentials. The Transmission was noticeably the first time I shifted it in reverse to forward. It hasn’t shifted this smooth from a stop sign going forward. Just incredible. Smooth as silk. It’s hard to explain but I can feel the difference with it. It’s real.
I drove from St. Paul Minnesota area to Glasgow Montana on my first day over 700 miles. I went to Glacier park and it was closed from the snow unfortunately. My truck drove so smooth. This last weekend I went up to Fargo North Dakota made it up. Gas lasted from home to Fargo and then back to St.Cloud MN before filling my gas tank. I got around 22.5 MPG in my 2014 LT 5.3 4x4 Silverado.

Note: The engine will have built up varnish, fine dirt and carbon, which the Amsoil will loosen during the first 3 to 5K miles, depending on how much has built up.

Good video, brings awareness to many aspects of doing an oil change yourself. You just don't ever really know the conditions of filters or the oil when you go to a shop for an OC. I commented below, I do not know of any other filter brands that offers an "Absolute Rated" filter, as well as a "Beta Rating" and "Micron Size" rating, plus API approved for 25,000 miles with normal driving conditions. These filters offer as well significantly more oil flow as compared to a paper media filter. Yes they are more expensive, but significantly reduce engine wear by capturing more particles than any other filter.

Have a friend that went 25k on brand X full synthetic oil. They advertise you can go a year.
I think that's false advertising. Maybe the oil can sit around in the car for a year and put 5 k miles on it or not drive it very much.
You better read the fine print and do your research cuz my friends car blew up at 25k miles. He even went to the company with no results. Total pain to get another motor.
Use cation when change intervals go beyond reasonable logic. 12k 25k 100k mile change intervals or a YEAR. Hah.

    • @repairvehicle

25k miles is not for every engine. If engine has fuel dilution problems, sludge or some other problems it will fail at 25k miles oil change intervals or 5k miles interval. I have see engine failure at 3k oil change intervals due fuel dilution. Also, Chevy 5.7 went almost 1 million miles without engine repairs and changing oil every 25k miles. This engine did not make 1 million miles because valve keeper broke and destroyed the engine and it has nothing to due with oil.

Unlike most engine oil filter brands, AMSOIL filters have an "Absolute Rating" An absolute rating gives the size of the largest particle that will pass through the filter media, the micron size (um). Absolute ratings are better for representing the effectiveness of a filter vs nominal rated filters. AMSOIL engine oil filters are Beta Rated, meaning the filters have an efficiency rating as well as the micron size rating. (ie) Beta 75 [Bx = 75] is 98.7% efficient at 20 um's. To my knowledge, this is the most efficient engine oil filter available on the market today. Please correct me if I am wrong, I know of no other filters available that provide this efficiency at 20 um's and rated for 25,000 miles. If there are 100,000/ particles per ml upstream of the filter in the oil system of your engine, rated at 98.7% efficient, this filter only lets 1333 particles per ml larger than 20 um's through each oil pass. For example if you have a filter with a nominal rating of 50% at 20 um's, this filter will let 50,000 particles per ml through the filter on each pass. Pumping all these particles through your engine lubricating system greatly increases the wear on the engine bearing surfaces. The AMSOIL engine filters greatly reduce engine wear by capturing 98.7% of the particles larger than 20ums. I believe these filters are 50% efficient at 10 ums.

I’d like your thoughts on replacing a quart of oil for fresh ATF and good run before oil and filter change. An old mechanic told me if I’d do that every so often, it’d keep the engine sludge cleaned out with ATF high detergent. But, I do not know?
Also, I’ve heard Diesel engine oil has much higher detergent content?
Another fellow I know who’s an engineer and mechanic believes the absolute best way to keep engine clean internally is to use full synthetic and change both it and filter every 3500 miles. But, I do not know myself? Would like your thoughts, very interesting video.

    • @repairvehicle

Atf does not work well when mixed with engine oil, severe wear will happen. Diesel oil is formulated differently and has different amounts of detergent depending on brand. Full synthetic oil is not synthetic at all, it's a synthetic blend.
Running Full synthetic oil for 3500 miles can cause severe damage to the engine. Depending on the brand of oil and engine type, some synthetic oils are out of specifications at only 2000 miles. After 2000 miles oil is no longer lubricating engine, but destroying engine, on some cars and with some full synthetic oils.

So, you’re saying I should use amsoil oil and filter and change every 2000 miles would be best? I’m trying to learn, because cars are so expensive, I need to make them last as long as I can....

I use regular. MB doesn't make their own coolant they go to oil companies or coolant companies for the product.

No issues, warm up little bit faster.

    • @nikkoBcool
      @nikkoBcool 2 года назад +1

After digging more it's an issue between HOAT and non-HOAT coolants.
MB among others require HOAT coolant only (the green stuff is not hoat)
      Here's what they say:
MB requires HOAT (Hybrid Organic Acid Tech.) coolant.
Any one on the below table will do, but Zerex G48 (blue) or Zerex G05 (gold) can be purchased at any automotive store.
Green coolant is a non HOAT coolant and is not accepted or approved.
      ------
Will amsoil coolant work in MB?
Info found on amsoil PDF concerning their low toxicity coolant:
      Low-Toxicity, Biodegradable
beyond those provided by today’s conventional antifreeze and coolant products. Unlike conventional ethylene glycol-based products, which are acutely toxic....
Conventional ethylene glycol-based coolants are toxic, presenting a poisoning risk if ingested by children, pets, livestock or wildlife....
..... Propylene Glycol Antifreeze & Coolant is a proprietary hybrid organic acid (HOAT) formulation that does not contain phosphate, nitrite, silicate, borate or amine found in conventional antifreeze/ coolants
Conclusion; yes, the low toxicity coolant will work, I will switch my Benz over to it since someone put the wrong coolant in anyway and low toxicity is a plus in case it ever evaporates into the cabin.
I will switch all my vehicles over the the amsoil low toxicity coolant as well.

    • @nikkoBcool
      @nikkoBcool 2 года назад +1

Also, their low toxicity actually costs about the same as regular because it comes full strength (needs to be diluted 50/50) while other one comes pre diluted.
It does have a shorter life span though.
