    I was actually shocked that they did this... introducing a new character (who looked set to be a long-time player in the series), and then kill her off within a single season. A heroic sacrifice, for sure, but still.
    For me, Charly was rather unlikable at first... but after a few episodes, she came around and I was really starting to like her, especially after seeing the Kaylon's builders and her finally warming up to Isaac.
    I don't know if Anne Winters was supposed to do more and either didn't enjoy working on the show, or if fans weren't warming up to her, or whether this was supposed to be the plan all along... but it's such a shame to lose her so soon.

      @@AdsForAdults That's good. I'd hate for them to write off a new character just because fans didn't like her or anything.

      It's hard for them to kill off a character like Charly based on fan feedback, when this was all filmed as a single season over many months lol.
      Meaning that by the time Season 3 Episode 1 aired, the rest of Season 3 had already been finished filming and editing. So clearly, her death was planned right from the get go.
      I still find it sad. But hey, it's Sci-Fi and Orville, they could always come up with other reasons for Anne Winters to return. Such as this explosion sending her to something something sci-fi and thus survived, or they could do an alternate timeline version of Charly (like they did with the Orville crew in Season 2).

    • @BYERE
      @BYERE 2 года назад +6

      @@spacecraftcarrier4135 That... is a very good point that I didn't consider XD
      Honestly, given her backstory, I think it would be an injustice if they did do a deus ex on her death, retconning it for the sake of bringing Anne back.
      They could likely have her come back if it was in a flashback, or as part of the simulator, etc... but I think having her death nullified would be a bad thing to do.

      As cynical as this may seem, one person's sacrifice for peace does make all the difference and it echos reality all too well. I would like to think this was part of a bigger plan. However, if there was an end to come this is a perfect one. Sadly we won't know if Amanda had really liked her or if this was suppose to be. I guess in the end we really don't have that much time and should cherish it more. Finally, coming to peace with your hatred and letting go is a continued message on the Orville which is completely profound to say the least.

    I think there is way, to bring back Ms.Charly Burke, by showing a variant of her, who is from a different realm.
    I imagine in the realm, variant of Ms.Charly Burke, her female best friend Amanda is alive.
    I also imagine within that same realm, Ms.Charly Burke, told her friend Amanda, about her secret feelings for her.
    I imagine that Amanda responded, that she was both surprised, and flattered, but she doesn’t feel the same way for her.
    Amanda goes on saying, that she is straight, she has always only been, interested in boys, and she is dating a guy she likes allot right now.
    In addition I imagine, that Amanda variant, is a super genius scientist prodigy, whose I.Q. is much higher, than the older adult scientists.

She just came off as an annoying, petulant child. I just didn't get onboard with the whole 'Amanda' thing. And her lines...*sheesh*. Her lines were so generic, it was painful to hear her speak them. I don't know. I would have to say that the biggest fail this season was Ensign Burke.
