This video couldn’t have come at a better time. I just upgraded to the qr2 and since Fanatec is out of stock of their qr2, I purchased this one as well. It’s cheaper than the normal qr2 and free shipping to the US. Still baffles me how Fanatec doesn’t offer free shipping in 2024 especially with the price you’re forking over for their products.

The Fanatec QR2 is a chinese knockoff of the Krontec QR3 in the first place. So it really shouldn't be a surprise that the aliexpress feel and function nearly the same as the actual fanatec ones.

Just wanted to say thank you to all the comments in this video and @randomcallsign for making this video. Ended up buying this exact one for my CSL DD and I couldn't be happier with the initial purchase! Now to put it through its paces and see the long term durability. The package and all the parts look almost identical to the fanatec offical QR2. It feels like they are getting the parts from the same manufacturer and just changing up the release shape.

  • @calansvc

People always refer to these as "knock-offs", "copies", etc. The fact is, some of them are EXACTLY the same as Fanatec's, but without the "$170 markup because it says 'Fanatec'".
I have several $50 QR2's from Aliexpress, and I can't tell any difference at all in most of them... right down to the labeling and minor details on the box and the tool packet that comes with them. The only difference I've noticed after hours of driving is that my wallet is a lot happier.
Not to mention, most sellers on Aliexpress actualy respond to emails and are HAPPY to fix customer complaints from what I've seen :)

I bought the black one at a discount for $40 with free shipping.. A little more than 7 months ago... It cannot be broken, I tell you that right away.. It can withstand 32nm with easeThe main thing is not to forget to install the round plastic that comes with the kit, this is very important.!!!! These are Fanatec requirements... And the Chinese took care to add it to the kit... Because if you don’t install it, the steering wheel’s internal part will not be in tight contact with the QR2 that is installed in the base.. When you install the plastic ring.... Please note that the head of the bolt should not be higher than the plastic.... Use the bolts that come with the qr2.

The Chinese version is based on the Fanatec QR2, but the Fanatec QR2 is a copy of Krontec. So turnabout is fair play.
You can fix the "stickiness" on the wheelbase side by using teflon (PTFE) spray. Spray onto a cloth and then wipe it over the OUTSIDE of the wheelbase side stem and the vertical bars of the wheelside release. This is exactly what Fanatec do with the pro system. You will need to apply the teflon spray at least once a year to both the Fanatec and OEM releases.

@@Xotiw how to show you have absolutely no clue of engineering, product development and mass manufacturing. The measurements need to be dead on or else you have a QR1 V2 with a lot of play. You need to balance the tolerances with the execution time on each machine as well as the resulting costs, and so on. Especially with different matierals that are supposed to provide very similar experiences this task is much more difficult. The additional times for testing and finding solutions for issues and then getting this draft to be mass manufacturable is a pain in the ass.
