Your videos have been really inspiring. I am doing this a couple days a week in my craft room and a couple days a week in the rest of my house. There has been a definite improvement but no way will I be done by the end of January. How about once a month making a follow-up or review video of some sort?
I am so dreading going through my totes. I moved late last fall into a temporary place. Someone else packed up some of my craft supplies for me because I wasn’t able to do it myself. This person was not a crafter, so she had no clue how to sort the things. She just put everything into bins labeled “Craft Room.” This project feels so daunting to me, but I’m ready to tackle it now one bin at a time. I know that in the end, it will be such a relief to get it done. Thank you both for giving me the inspiration and motivation I need to get started. I’ve procrastinated long enough.
Yep, I have food items in 5 gallon buckets, carefully labeled with contents. However, the labels fell off, and the moving company 'guessed' which went to which bucket. Just now getting to them and um...food planning is kinda like opening presents on Christmas for a while.Lol. At least it's jus one container at a time.
Yes ladies, I’m sure it’s overwhelming🥴 I think I see a silver lining in each case: Open a box/tub SURPRISE😳😝; I can’t help but think it might even be easier/less commitment as far as do I really want/need this item. Also in the end you’ll be excited for the end result because everything will have its own new special home that you’ve decided!!! Does that make sense!??! I do wish you patience and perseverance; after all we didn’t collect/create this overnight🙃 ❤️😀
Thanks you for doing this series. Yep I store in tub so now I want to go through each one but it seemed overwhelming. Now I think I can do this. I will let you know.❤❤❤
My craft room is starting to look a lot better due to this series. One area in particular, next to my desk, was a cluttered mess on the floor and it is looking a lot better. I still need to figure out how to store all of my brown packing paper that is just shoved in between two storage things. Anyway, thanks for this series.
Well, I will definitely get to it as soon as I can. I end up buying a few little storage type stuff that will make my life easier, I hope. But I do have one bin that I keep walking over and I’m going to tackle that one.😂 love and light ❤️🤗
I have really fell behind There was a freeze warning and I spent 20+ hours covering plants . Frost happened. I saved alot of plants. I am listening as I uncover the garden Some still damaged, others were uncoverable(?) Also have company from Wisconson(they left the door open for Florida frost) Photos to follow
I think creativity comes best from limited resources. I learned that during the lockdown. The less supplies you have, the more creative you become. I think all the marketing and influencers we have, has told us that we need all the things.
I don't know how many times I've avoided looking in something because it filled me with dread only to discover that it wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be! Our brains are really wired to avoid "danger" so Dana is precisely correct to say 'just look'. Also, your question regarding at what point should we say it's enough is so valid! I have plenty of space in my house to store craft supplies but it's really too much for my brain. I've kept collecting and collecting to the point where I'm actually paralyzed because I have too many choices. I feel so much lighter and happier to have reduced my tools and supplies. One example is with my punches. I went through all of them and put all the ones that were similar together and then punched them out and decided which one or ones I'd be more likely to use. Now I can easily see what I have and I know that what I kept were my favorites. It also feels good knowing that other crafters will be thrilled to have them.
Dana have you watched Cara’s video of sorting her large cupboard l was not happy duck 🦆 apart from the first box it was nothing to do with your system, the mess she made, made me feel ill.
@@CaraBrandonCreations You were organizing, which is different from decluttering (Dana doesn't organize). I understood what you were doing! I think that video was just labeled wrong. But just FYI, the video in this series that is really problematic is ErinReedMakes. I don't think she bothered to watch any of Dana's content. She thinks that the One Hour Better method means you set yourself a deadline of one hour in which to get everything in your craft room done. No mention of progress and only progress, and being able to stop at any time. She empties her closet onto a big table. She jams things into already full bins. She talks a lot about "purging." She doesn't use any of the steps in Dana's method, doesn't use any of Dana's language, and keeps referring to the stuff in her craft room as junk. That one really bothered me!!
@@reneeschwartz6555ah yes I agree I should have had a different title for the video. I see what you mean. As for other creators I asked them to show how they organize their space. I didn’t really give “parameters” I felt the collab was 2 parts. The decluttering with Dana and having crafty folk share ideas on how they organize their space or what is working for them in their crafty space.
@@CaraBrandonCreations Thank you; I misunderstood. While I knew that the hashtag might spread far and wide, I thought that the videos you linked to on the collab calendar were all ones that specifically used Dana's method. Thanks for the clarification!
I love these kinds of organization systems. I use the 5-S principles I learned at work many years ago and it’s very similar to what is being described here. The 5 S’s are Sort, Sweep, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain. I taught it to my children and they still use it at their places of work and at home. And of course, it’s always a work in progress, as it should be. Great suggestions here! Thanks for a wonderful collab! ~Kathy @AtticTreasuresEtc
Week 4--You made it!!
Dana's process literally works for everything & anything... bin/box; shelf/cabinet/closet; &/or a whole room!! 😃🩷

One at a time, just one item at a time in each bin.

I've decided some things will look messy, in a way, as long as I've only kept what I know I'll use. 😁
My totes in my garage are next!

I had to take everything out in order to put the new closet system in. Sorry you felt ill.
