- I’m participating in the Less Clutter, More Crafting collaboration with Dana K White and her Speed of Life Decluttering Coaches. We’re using Dana's No Mess Decluttering Process from her book, Decluttering at the Speed of Life, (a Wall Street Journal bestseller) to declutter our craft spaces.
My decluttering coach, Lisa Seaman The Decluttering Difference, and I did a One Hour Better decluttering session in my Craft room.
We worked for one hour using the No Mess Decluttering Process and made a lot of progress, with no piles left behind to have to deal with later.

🎉 3 BINS Empty! This video has really brought home to me that “the container determines how much we keep”… (thanks coach Lisa)
And Grace, so cool that you mentioned the clutter bug “style”… my daughter introduced me to these categories and I took the quiz to realize I’m a “ladybug”, meaning I’m most comfortable if things are in a closed container - (they don’t need to be organized “in” the container 😉) What great progress you’re making - it’s going to be so fun to create in your room!!! 🩵 Happy Crafting! 🩵 Lori
@@PositiveThanksLiving thank you so much and thank you for sharing !! Yes once we know our style it’s so much easier.
I celebrated with you when you emptied the first bin! The "random crayon" made me laugh out loud because it's so true! Thanks for opening up your craft room Grace, and sharing your decluttering process with us! Thanks for the tips Lisa!
@@ravenvintageca aweee thanks for supporting me and watching !!! Yeah that random crayon is one of my son’s when he was a toddler lol (don’t worry I have a cup full of them so I could part with that one) lol
Good job! I am listening to you and tackling my own floor pile. I cleaned off my table and put things on the floor. The floor is not a storage space…. Hmm… 😂 I am liking this process.
@@JodiLewisCreations 😂😂 I find listening to Dana’s videos motivates me to do mine at the same time too! Thanks for watching !!
I too have been decluttering my craftroom/studio since July 2024. I had to rezone everything in every space. I'm not done yet, but will be glad to find things again.
@@shellywilliamswilliamscomp783 oh wow! That’s my dream to find what I’m looking for 😂
It is so satisfying watching people organize! Inspiring!
@@coverdalegirl thank you ! Yes I agree!
I love that your husband gave you a heart shaped box full of stamps! So sweet!
@@susanfockler1085 thank you ❤️ he’s a very sweet man and very creative as well. He definitely knows my love language. 😆 thanks for watching and commenting.
Santa Claus brought me a craft studio (she shed). I’m in the same boat of stocking the new craft studio with the items that were in my crafting space in our basement. This series has really been helpful to me and I’m glad I came across it!
@@Sheree-aka-SherryLynn oh wow that’s great !! And great timing 😆
Talk about serendipitous... I'm listening on my phone as I move around... All you had to do was mention "light bulbs", and I went to the box where I keep them, knowing there was a mess there. In fact, two packages of bulbs that I recently bought wouldn't even fit there. Happily, just taking them all out and reconfigured the box sokved the problem, giving me extra shelf space in my utility cabinet. 🥰
@@cherismith5707 that’s awesome !!! Serendipity is always around; for me she is 🤣
I would definitely have to limit myself to 1 hour because the decision fatigue really hits when you're dealing with sooooooo many items.
@@jennyjenkins877 oh for sure ! But most of it, it already had a place so wasn’t too many decisions for now. But I was exhausted after that 😂
You did a great job it’s stressful and very exhausting to get organized! Slow and steady wins the race!
@@savanahevans9551 thank you! Yes I was exhausted after that lol and yes it can be stressful to go through all the things; but slowly and surely I’ll get there! Thank you for watching !!
Awesome job! It's so nice to see Dana's method applied to crafting spaces which is where I struggle the most. Her main question ... Where would I look for this first? is brilliant! It takes the emotion out of it. I have kind of cheated in the process a little bit by not handling the container concept immediately (remove something if there isn't enough room) but instead putting things where I would look for them first and then going back and addressing the container to make things more manageable.
One example is with my punches. I put them all in one space and then took the time to try each punch, get rid of the ones that I didn't really like once I punched them, and then compare similar ones and see which one I liked the best. It has been so nice to have just the ones that I know I will use and have them all visible with plenty of space and room around them.
Awesome collaboration!! Thank you so much for sharing your space and your progress! 💕
@@DarlaW thanks so much for watching !! And yes it’s hard to find a method that works for crafters for sure and this is manageable. I like your twist to it ; to be honest my one cubbie for large stamps …I have a whole lot more than that cubbie container (that’s why I said large stamps 🤣🤣) but that’s a great idea to go in afterwards and really keep my favorite ones. I’m sure I will get to that point I will have to make some choices to fit in the container 😉😉
That try out at the end is part of consolidation. Part of the container method.
Take there now. Example:You could have removed from things around the hole punch area. I.e. trash. Even if you consolidation at the end. Not criticizing.
It is amazing how quickly we are able to put things away. I appreciate both of you for sharing this time with us.
@@PennyPudge yes our brains tell us otherwise, I couldn’t believe how much I got done in an hour. Thank you !
I’m here from Dana’s playlist. Great job on accomplishing so much decluttering and organizing! Thanks for being vulnerable to share with us. Would’ve enjoyed watching the decisions you fast-forwarded through too. But it’s your video, of course! 😀 Your coach seemed very helpful in guiding through the process too.
@@lynnettelg yes, unfortunately they wanted us to edit down the 1hr; I was supposed to edit it to 20 minutes !! But I couldn’t manage it without cutting out Lisa’s great coaching ! I don’t typically edit out parts from my videos; I like showing it all. Thanks for coming over and watching and the kind feedback !

I got rid of my daughter's stuff from school by having her go through it. She was ruthless.
@@Kathy.Cooksey6 yes they are able to do it because they don’t have the memories we do attached to it…I remember when they were “this” age/small…etc…if I gave all my son’s stuff to him…he wouldn’t totally be ruthless too…I’m afraid to give it to him lol becuase they are my memories…not sure if that makes sense…

I need to do this. I have been overwhelmed and I am still wrapping presents for Christmas. I was cleaning my late Mother-in-laws house (87 yrs of collections
She was organized, but there is still more stuff I need to deal with) and had a new floor installed in my craft room with no time to separate her stuff from mine. Where do I post a video and get a coach to start. I have been doing 5 -15 minute putting similar things together . Also donating and gifting items. This challenge is perfectly timed for me.
love craft room projects!!
@@LuAnnMcKinney awesome ! Thanks !! We need these too
The new floor is beautiful! I bet it was worth the moving the crafting supplies to have this.
@@lynnettelg thank you ! Yea for sure and it also allowed me to move into that area and have it just for me😆

What if you have items that does not have home yet and you will use it????
@@avashort5160 according to the 5 steps…in step 4 ..you would first ask yourself “if I needed this item, where would I look for it first” and then take it there; if there’s no room for it in that place then (you either remove something else to make room for that item or it maybe a donatable; basically what is more important to you. Or the second Q ..if I needed this item, would it occur to me that I already have it ? If you already had it where would it be? Dana goes more into it with Cara’s video from yesterday I think. I’ve been binge watch Dana’s videos and she answers this question better with examples. I’m totally new with the process as well !😀 Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and for your question.
I have been in chaos for so long that many things never had a home, and need to wait while I make a place for them. Much of my chaos comes from taking what I’ve organized and know where it is, to having someone “help” me by moving everything to other places and I need to start over. Also I am a butterfly, out of sight out of mind, so now that a lot of things are in boxes I need to go back and label them, and see if I can rehome things. I don’t trust thrift stores to not throw away my donations so I’d rather give things directly to people who want or need and will use them. I know that’s a sticky problem. I just can’t stand wasting good things.
@ yes I can understand that about giving it away blindly. But you can also give directly to shelters, schools, maybe even retirement homes depending what the items are. Thank you for sharing your story. One item at a time🙂
Hello Grace, found you.
@@kathyashley3334 hey there !

That bin is amazing. It reminds me of Mary Poppins' carpet bag. It doesn't look that big, but it's full of cool, awesome stuff!
I'm at Lisa's stage - "kids" are 19, 19, and 23. They have bins of all their stuff. I told myself I'd have them go through and put in a shred, recycle, or trash locations.
@@kathleensmith8336 we get more attached to their stuff than they are …we remember all the memories that go with it…they don’t ..
Great job Grace and Lisa it is amazing how much gets done in an hour. Anne, Australia🦘
