@@nashahara i wouldnt mind another storybook game.(or sonic and bayonetta having a non-smash bros. crossover game/both appearing in the next sega all stars game.:3)
@Speedy V. Super late comment but not entirely. Sonic engages combat in that Opening like where he spins around robots, runs up walls and maneuvers in much more varied ways than heading from one part to another. Unleashed is cool but I wouldn't exactly call running over everything "combat" even if Sonic does do that once in the Opening.
I worked very hard on it (but it could still use some polish). Thank you! Although the Mania stuff still counts as official Sonic stuff that's been released by SEGA in the past few years and I don't know how well I can compete with that.
@@Rex67Diego9 I believe he's talking about the 2D animated opening at the start of the game, but doesn't mean he could dish out something just as good with enough time B)
The intros to rival and boss battles in Sonic Generations are a pretty good representation of how I'd envision intros to boss battles in a game like this
Regarding personality. At least before Colors came along and turned the series' writing into a cringe fest, Sonic's function in the narrative was always to be looked up at, admired, not just by the audience for the 'cool factor' but by other characters as well. Sonic's always been a static character who leads others down the path of their development. And I think that would be extremely easy to apply to a game like this, seeing as characters like Dante and Bayo already largely fill that similar role, at least on the audience side of things
i honestly see big similarities with all 3 (sonic, bayonetta and dante) as their pretty damn snarky at times(even though i personally like bayonetta and dantes playful banter more than sonic's,though i did find some of his lines in unleashed, colors and generations funny.:3) and are laid back with getting involved against threats(i even when younger called bayonetta a mix of dante and sonics personalities.) while having goofy interactions with their friends and have emotional/soft moments at times. (sonic with tails and occasionally amy like in sonic unleashed as well as his characterization in the movie, dante with his friends lady, trish, nero and brother vergil and bayonetta with jeanne and her younger self cereza.)
For a very long time, there's been an ongoing gag with this "what if PlatinumGames made [X]?" which, in it and of itself, is already a tiring meme. BUT if there was absolutely one franchise I had always desire to see them tackle, it would be Sonic, so color me surprise to hear about that someone has the same exact viewpoint as I do. You obviously know a lot about PlatinumGames' repertoire and the philosophy of (cuhrayzee) action games. You did a great job conveying what would work with Sonic. There's a lot of ideas I had in the back of my head, mostly tied around the Werehog gameplay, which I feel has a huge untapped potential but that's a story for another day. Nah, Sonic himself definitely needs a fantastic action oriented game. All of his animated antics, like the CD intro, could translate perfectly into Dante's DMC3 trickster ability, complete with the wallrunning ability. I could go on with my ideas but I won't bore you with the details since you probably have better ideas than I do. Anyway, still cool to see a PlatinumGames/action game/Sonic fan wanting to see this all mash up into one huge SEGA goodness. Fantastic video all the way! P.S.: PLAY WONDERFUL 101. it's the game that got me to appreciate action games and it's why I'm obsessed with creating combo videos these days. The remastered edition is the perfect chance to get in :)
Sorry if I add to that tiring meme but I would love it if Platnum game made a videogame adaptation of Made in Abyss. That is beutiful adventure Manga/Anime series. Platnum games was founded from Members of Clover studio who made Okami which is a pretty awsome adventure game. So its not like crazy action is all they can do. I know that is way WAY more absurd and imposebile than a Sonic Character action game but its nice to imagine. Made in Abyss aside it would be interesting if they made another adventure game like Okami.
Not much of a Sonic guy, but I appreciate the thought and effort that went into this. I feel it could work, not too different from your setup, but it'd be crazy if SEGA would go for it. Play Wonderful 101. It actually has some of the things you mentioned, though incidentally- losing 'weapons'/moves can happen, if rarely, because every hero in the game is assigned a morph and the game will not let you use a morph if all characters with that morph are stunned. Much harder to do as you gain characters. Your concept of characters having separate health could actually work if, say, as a temporary penalty instead of a life loss. Like a cool down, for doing a bad job of managing health pools. Longer than 101's stuns, in any case. Also, small aside, but since you're a Sonic guy you should know Rodger Craig Smith voices Wonder Blue in the english dub, and a few Sonic references are scattered about in the script. Platinum loves their references.
Yeah I really should give it a go when it comes to PC, I remember trying a demo when it came out on Wii U and found it really weird and confusing at the time, but that was aaaaages ago. Also not a fan of Roger to be honest, but thanks for letting me know anyway.
The weapons thing. Just have them be chaos based energy weapons, like vegito's spirit sword or like shadow's chaos spears. Chaos control can kinda just do anything anyway. Edit: Sonic's "gun" can just be him punching so fast he makes wind bullets.
Your animation was SO good!! And great pitch too. I’ve only ever played action/adventure games like Kingdom Hearts (also flashy hack n’ slash that I feel like you would love if you haven’t already played them) and this totally made me open up to the idea of this kind of Sonic game.
Thank you!! I'd be interested in trying Kingdom Hearts but unfortunately these games have spoiled me and now I get bored at any combat system that isn't as complex and fun, haha. I tolerate it in Monster Hunter but other games like Nier: Automata and even the FF7 remake demo were disappointing to me because they have such a combat focus but I didn't find them fun. Not sure how deep KH is but maybe I'll try it some day.
TelekinesticMan I think you’d get a really good kick out of the story of KH if not the gameplay. I’d say KH2, KH: Birth By Sleep, and KH3 have the best combat imo. Plenty of flash and challenge, especially in the KH3 customizable combat system that you get if you buy the dlc. KH1 is surprisingly difficult, but not as flashy, so if you do start the series and hate it at first, keep going because it does get better.
Could you imagine the amount of physical damage that would be done to the animals inside the badniks, poor birds? Sidenote: By all means, if you want make more videos like this, this is some great stuff.
Some random thoughts on how a platinum approach could add to the established Sonic gameplay: -The sliding swing-kick could launch enemies into the air instead of destroying them, and then Sonic could jump into them and give himself some height like in Generations. There's your high time. -He could freeze time when quick stepping away from an enemy as a near miss, it would work like DMC's quicksilver, or the thing he does in the Sonic movie, which was based on another quicksilver which also works the same but never mind. -Sonic's boost could be tied to skill, and won't need to be nerfed. Taking notes from Nero's red queen in DMC, you could roll, and let go of roll at the right point in the animation to launch a better dash. -There could be rainbow rings which lead to faster routes that only work if Sonic has a high style rank when he touches them, from parkour and near misses etc. -Sonic needs longer legs. We were on a roll up until 2014 and then he started shrinking again. Unacceptable.
Hey about demons, remember we had the Black Arms (well they're technically aliens), Dark Gaia and it's monsters, Iblis. You also have a good amount of monsters to fight apart of Eggman's robots About the health bar, it could work like in Sonic Smackdown, that the rings fill your health bar, but that only the enemies and hidden capsules drops them. The rings could also work for leveling up the characters and unlocking new habilities (like the system the Werehog had in Unleashed) (and about that Sonic now does cringy bad jokes.... mmm that's not true at all, Sonic was almost always like that) And while Platinum Games works on that, the Sonic Team could focus on another title, perhaps with the boost formula (that's my favorite style of gameplay xd)
I would like that too. Along with a Sonic fighting game, maybe a better Sonic rpg. My favorite games are action, fighting and rpg. Bayonetta and NieR: Automata are fun and lovable action games from Platinum.
For the fighting game, I've seen this fangame called Sonic Smackdown that's pretty neat. Got some decent animations, supers that look cool, functions and plays well, check it out.
For the name, how about Sonic: Chaos Theory? I was thinking the story could be that the Chaos Emeralds are starting to act kinda strange, possibly due to Eggman's shenanigans, so Sonic and crew have to stop him (this is just an idea) The playable characters could be Sonic, Knuckles, Tails and Amy (with other characters like Shadow, Rouge, Omega and even Blaze being unlockables or DLC)
At first, I thought the team mechanics you mentioned would be weird. "Like, I don't want to play as three characters at the same time." But when you explained further, I thought it would be very interesting. Maybe it could be like Sonic World where you can choose one, two, or three characters to use in a level. But, that's just me.
Ever since I played Metal Gear Rising a while back I’ve totally wanted a Sonic game from platinum. Frontiers was almost that except it had none of the Engaging Gameplay or Polished visuals, Kishimoto mentioned they originally wanted a DMC/Bayonetta combat system but thought it was too hard 😭 we were so close to greatness
I see in Frontiers they did a pretty sloppy looking rip off of Rising, with Raiden using one of the leg blade from Excelsus against it. Where it was Sonic seemingly pulling Silver's telekinetic powers out of his ass as (doesn't) he holds the sword of the Knight Titan before slicing in twain. Normally, I'd probably find that the coolest thing ever, because who cares if its not realistic when you have the power of Rule of Cool on your side! However, with that said, Rule of Cool can only get you so far, so long as it seems somewhat plausible or just not look quite sloppy/amateurish with, again, Sonic not actually holding the sword he looks to use. I also wish we actually got a solid combat system with some actual depth, instead of hold down the shoulder buttons for easy parries, and then let the game play itself for you. Along with the Sonic Boom move basically turning Frontiers into Devil May Cry 2 given how OP guns were in the game. For when I said about wanting to see Sonic play abit like DMC, it truly became a bit of a monkey's paw moment 😆😅
Ironically enough, I decided to buy myself Insomniac's Spiderman GOTY edition and around the mid-late game, I was beginning to imagine while in the midst of the wonderful combat FLOW from the various crimes and bases you can fight enemies at, "yo, that was hype. Imagine Sonic and friends with all of their athletic prowess doing that to robots." I understand that Spiderman is way more basic when compared to Bayo or DMC, but the flow of moving from enemy to enemy while timing dodges and countering I think would fit really well with Sonic and company because if whatever developer tackles that idea and gets the FLOW of combat right, we could see the gang not only use their bodies like in the past, but make use of their limbs and other character traits to defeat their foes. I guess if I had to come up with an example on the fly, I'll use Tails since he's my favorite character. Like you mentioned, he'd excel at aerial combat, and while still capable on the ground, his playstyle when grounded may be more about dodging and countering, with counters focused on getting enemies airborne. Whether he uses his extremities or inventions is a toss up. I feel like his inventions would fit great with Spiderman's gadget system and maybe a few counter ideas, but, and hopefully this doesn't sound like a cringey fan's insane ramblings, I don't see it out of place for him to use his tails as a sweep attack for sending enemies upward, or grabbing them and lifting them into the sky with his flight kinda like Sonic the Fighters. Heck even throwing a small bomb to pop them up or even a flip kick that he picked up from his hero, Sonic. Thinking on it further and summing it up, Tails could use these counters if the player wants to get up close and personal with his aerial prowess, or can stick to the ground and use inventions and traps to thin the numbers control the battlefield if the player prefers that approach.
I already made the concept of the game you want 2 years ago. Story: during a cookout, eggman uses an experimental device to capture sonic's essense, but malfunctions stealing a portion of everyones while also capturing everyone else. He leaves ro fix his device, sonic leaves to save friends. Abilities: sonic has a portion of his allies essences(sonic is speed, tails is multijump, knuckles is aoe strikes, shadow is chaos control, amy is her hammer, rouge is theft(items) espio is stealth, victor is suplex city boi, blaze is fire armor, the psychic is psychic.) The gameplay would be like heroes for platforming routes for a short duration, gameplay would be the thought of barrel roling as air dodging in the air, homing attacking certain areas to remove armor, using chaos control to optomize damage, knuckes for more damage, victor for hype fun, etc. Bosses are metal sonic, metal tails, metal knuckes etc, finalboss is a megazord of them. Sonic isn't as fast unless you are using his personal essence which you switch between. One boss fight is just sonic wallrunning forward on a circular hallway where he needs to run around the walls itself and the end will start losing floors so you just need to get better. The story is sonic saving his friends and returning their essence to return them to normal. There was a lot more but I forgot it. There were powerups you get from special executions on special robots and every power would be helpful in combat and platforming. The highways would be side by side in routes. Also, sonic could do an immediate speed fall stomp to the ground for ground control. That's all I remember.
I really hope your channel becomes more successful, because your content is always excellent, even if I don't always agree with you, I find it fascinating.
I always wish Sega remake Sonic and the Black Knight with a similar hack and slash combat like bayonetta, nier automata, metal gear rising and Devil May Cry. And the world is a huge world that has a lot of secrets you have to find and visiting towns, villages, and kingdoms and freely explore the world. I always dream that but it will never happen it will only exist in my imagination
I feel shocked about the crossover video. Amazing work. Edit: I also thought why Platinum was so cool, it’s because the more realistic, the better. And I was really a fan of PlatinumGames btw.
Still an amazing concept and video. Would love to see sonic tackle a beat em up that’s actually fun and fluid like streets of rage 4 or shredders revenge.
Thank you! If Frontiers was going to have combat like this, I wish they did a better job ripping off Platinum, because it feels so hollow to me currently.
I recently heard that there is a Shadow the Hedgehog game coming out. If PlatinumGames made it, it would be pretty fun. Sonic Spin-Off is good, but Afterburner, Space Harrier, Thunder Blade, Virtua Cop, Altered Beast, Shinobi, Binary Domain are also good.
This is an amazing pitch man! I never really thought about how well a Sonic action game could work until now. Also, nice animation at the beginning. Super clean and expressive!
Oh wow, I had no idea that you were the one that made that animation I saw on twitter a while back. You're really great at animating and do it better than any of the 3D Sonic games have lol. That aside, I couldn't agree more with this video. I always thought Sonic could work with Bayonetta combat gameplay really well and Platinum Games are the best in town to do it. Another idea I've had is another shot at a Sonic fighting game but this time it's 2D/2.5D instead of the more arena like fighting games that Fighters and Battle were. I think company that'd do it justice would be Arc System Works, they make the most beautiful fighting games with a bunch of respect to the franchise they're handling (Dragonball Fighterz and Granblue Fantasy Versus are a great example). Plus all the characters in those games also have a theme song accompaning them and you know what that means.
Thank you! And I totally agree about Arc System Works even though I've barely played Fighterz but hot damn that game oozes with charm and style. I'm not a big fighting game person (outside of Smash) and I'm not at all into Dragon Ball, but those devs are really onto something.
Oh wow you replied really fast, wasn't expecting that haha. Yeah I kind of suck at fighting games that aren't Smash (tho I am trying to improve) but I ended up buying Fighterz and later Granblue Verses because the games just look super neat, not sure if you've seen the latest game their making, Guilty Gear Strive which is one of their originals and it looks absolutely stunning visually and I have no idea how they do it. But yeah, I'd just like to see them tackle Sonic because of how well they handled Dragonball, there's stuff there you won't get unless you're a fan. Callbacks to obscure trivia, references a plenty, really fun interactions between all the cast, stuff that makes you happy to be a fan y'know. Anyways, really love your stuff!
If Platinum made an Sonic game I would love if they used Transformers Devestion as their foundation. But instead of fighting with are care its simply Sonic's speed. I glad I'm not the only one who the same idea.
I got a name for you. Sonic Freedom Fighters And this could totally work, the template is already there. Eggman takes over the world and Sonic Knuckles and tails form the freedom fighters and bring in more characters into the group, unlocking them for missions as they push back his influence in different Zones
I love platinum games's games especially metal gear rising and transformers devastation. I really want a sonic platinum games game it would fit very well in my opinion
Dude, I seriously need this! Ever since I've been playing Bayonetta and getting into the DMC series, in my head I wonder what if a Sonic Game was made like them? Can someone send this over to Sega or PlatinumGames and see if we can make this a reality? Cause the next Sonic game needs something to give the series a fresh start. We need to get this Trending yall. #Sonic&PlatinumG My idea maybe would be a least be on a smaller scale. At least having the stranded trio of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles as playable. But give all of them Dante style-switching. All three could have two or three styles to switch to. Sonic could have like Dash/trickster, a Quicksilver style, and I'm thinking rolling/spin style. Tails: A Gunslinger/Blast/laser style, a bomb style, and a flight style that uses his two tails. Knuckles: Something like the Royal Guard, a Fisticuffs one, and some kind of throwing style? Maybe a Digstyle if that could work.
I feel like if this was exclusively focused on a few select characters, this spin-off idea would probably work best with Team Dark as we'd be able to get a variety of weapons for Omega, gadgets for Rouge and chaos powers for Shadow, giving each of them some significant combat variety (though I admit being a bit biased because goddammit Omega was so much fun back in Heroes). Otherwise, the Heroes-inspired mechanic is definitely an awesome concept, and I'd totally be for the possibility of unlocking extra hidden characters to fight as. It might be the most complex thing to do, but it certainly would give some uniqueness compared to other hack n' slash games. Plus the Sonic cast really needs some love and that'd be a great way to do so.
I'm just thinking that Shadow always deserved his solo game, just not in the way they carried it out. A good Shadow game could take cues from Wario Land/Ware, loose and disconnected from the main series, original, inventive, with its own unique style. When I first read about Shadow the Hedgehog in a magazine I thought the game was going to follow that road but boy, was I in for a letdown.
@@epichal4883 That's a fair take, though I still think such spin-offs could technically still be canon if done right, just not as the series' main focus. For example if we take the whole idea of Team Dark now working for G.U.N., we could have a spin-off series dedicated to those 3 characters doing their own thing with their own style without being necessarily tied by the standard Sonic formula, while fleshing out the organization and the world since we could have some of those games happening during other events in the series (Team Dark doing their own crazy stuff during the events of Unleashed for example) or of course having them going on completely unique stories that no one outside of G.U.N. knows happened. Though at this point I just want Shadow to stop acting like he did back in '05, honestly.
@@MegaGlassguy Oh I know, that's cool, I thought about it too it's just I also thought part of what makes spin-offs like Donkey Kong Country special is when they create their own lore and characters that can be treated individually. Hence why my friend and I had this super pitch for a Shadow game. Basically, think of the events of Adventure 2 but retold in a different manner. Shadow is held prisoner in an area that was originally built to contain only him but ended up becoming something like Area 51 where G.U.N keeps biological weapons and aliens in check. We just assume that Shadow's backstory is the same but we're not told much and we don't even start off as him, instead we follow a human protagonist who just began working as a guard in the facility doing their rounds and it unfolds pretty normally until the base comes under fire from an extraterrestrial race (sucks they already did the concept of the Black Arms lol) that's there to release its leader. As everyone gets slaughtered Shadow then persuades you to release him and from that point we go from a survival horror to a full blown action game where you control Shadow in a more original gameplay style. Of course Omega can be there as a security bot that ends up teaming with Shadow and there can be a few references to Robotnik as his creator, Rouge is a little tricky but she had been working for G.U.N since the beginning so she's cool too.
I think there should also be dialogue between the characters in the team like Sonic Heroes, like Having banter and such and just flavour dialogue during gameplay to flesh out the personalities of each. and I don't think that Sonic would stand there all smugly talking but he would do back and fourths with the enemy while fighting them
@@telekinesticman man, I need to play DMC 5... too bad my PC is broken. eh it'll get fixed eventually. I find it weird that this video exists because I was thinking about how there should be a platinum games Sonic game and then I found this video while looking through a twitter thread. A strange coincidence that found me a good video.
Finally...FINALLY, some who shares the same feelings as me!! A Sonic game made by Platinum Games or the guys who made Devil May Cry would be so fucking sick.
Hey, as a thought to add some of that Platinum games weaponry magic to the game, maybe use the idea of Variable Wispons from the IDW comics. Give each character, say...3-4 "frames" that can be modified with Wisps to allow for various specialized modifications to the heavy attack (setting things on fire, or stunning them for free hits, or allowing for a charged multi-target zipping hit)
Wisps/Wispons probably could work well as an extra ability/weapon, but I'd prefer not to include them mainly just because I don't really like them. I'd prefer for the movesets to come directly from the characters and not from an external thing like the Wisps, I guess. Still a really cool idea though!
I remember thinking of one in the style of Dynasty Warriors once. Came up with a couple of ideas for it as well, with what "weapons" would represent each character and upgrades. I say weapons in quotes because I mean shoes, gloves, hammer, bracelets, gadgets, etc.
I think the best thing to do with rings is to have them be the health bar, you can upgrade to keep more, you only loose a few when you get hit and you can destroy enemies to get some back
I love Bayonetta even thought I lack the skill to get the most out of it (platnum on average but almost never pure platnum) and I just got recently in to Sonic thanks to Sonic Mania, the Mania Adventure shorts and that Fallout comic. I only read the first volume of it but its pretty awsome. I grew to love Tails as a character. Its pretty satisfaying seing this sweet adroable little fox kick some robot ass be it alone ore teaming up with Sonic so I am all down fore a Character action game as long as Tails is playable. I would not put it past Tails to build and use varity of weapons. He is a tech prodegy after all and I heard in Adventure 2 he used a mech just like Bayonetta did during the great war and if you equip here with these earrings.
I really really REALLY like this concept and pray it happens one day. I think shadow could hold his chaos spear like in the comics or even use that purple sword from shadow the hedgehog and silver being able to conjure energy blades (since he can’t curl into a ball). And maybe every character could have extreme gear and have designs based of riders and boom eee this topic just gets my creativity going and makes me so happy.
I'd make the wisps Sonic's styles. Lazer to bounce between enemies, drill to dodge into the ground when cornered and some other uses, burst will work like it does in Colours DS but every explosion launches like a Devil Trigger transformation explosion, and maybe a new wisp that lets you switch to any character mid combo.
One issue is the character designs. Dante has lots of uniquely shaped weapons visible from any distance, Bayo has the long legs. Animation clarity might be a problem for Sonic in a 3D space. It's easy in 2D where the silhouettes are controlled, but in 3D it might be hard to make out attacks amongst all the hustle and bustle. Should we go back to the lankiness of Riders or Boom? The art style needs to be adjusted in some way.
they have revisited all of sonic's core movement, the giant boss fights, a diversity of enemies who are quite intimidating and a new system of close-combat, have RPG Elements (according to the leaks) classified as an RPG on games sites. it's a little suspicious from SEGA and Sonic Team, it's possible that they were inspired by it. You know what ? Let's get crazy. Sonic Frontiers might be that game, they might've helped somewhere like for the combat idk.
That would be interesting, but I don't think this style of combat really suits open-world design, and I'd still prefer it as a spin-off to the main series. Frontiers is the next main Sonic Team game, so I'd prefer they focus on the platforming elements for it and leave the combat stuff to another team like PlatinumGames.
@@telekinesticman I understand and it totally make sense, i think it’s more of a preference but i wouldn’t mind if sonic focus on this in a mainline sonic game. Maybe they can pull it off and mix both but we’ll see it’s pure speculation tho, Sonic game made by platinum games is just one of my dream so i’m might just be geekin out 😅
I respectfully disagree, DMC1 still holds up as the more arcade like introduction to the genre, almost as the missing link between modern character action and classic beat em ups, also the RE dna in it stills makes it the most atmospheric game in the series with the best stages, the bosses while re used more times than in modern games, are still some of the best in the series too. Finally the game is fairly short, even compared with its succesors, which makes it a quick but replayable experiencie. Sure the game lacks a lot of the improvements in quality of life the modern games have but it feels like a rite of passage that is better taken than ignore, beating bosses like Phantom for the first time is the kind of stuff that made me fell in love with the genre in the first place. But yeah feel free to ignore dmc2.
With sonic his moveset in sonic battle is more freestyle. Another idea for this is the chao buddy system similar to that of sonic chronicles the dark brotherhood.
Yeah, if Chao ever came back I'd like to see them integrated into the main gameplay a bit more, kinda like in Chronicles. Everything else in that game kinda sucks though.
#BlazeForBayonetta it's been only a couple of days since exploring sonic related media, but it is interesting that there are similar ideas dating so far back by the present time... Sonic and Blaze are "opposites", yet their own distinctive characters. Opposites DO complement each other. Sonic is a stylish trickster/breakdancer who does (and to carefully choose the words) not really care about limitations. He chooses to do cool things not for the sake of his public opinion **but for himself and helping others not limited to any moral code or laws** What is "cool" is putting good effort into what makes you a _YOU_ plus work towards refining the good qualities and overcoming weaknesses by considering both... The keyword? **Sincerity** No king arthur legends & mythos, No Alternative Personas, No War Heroes like Sephiroth, No delusions, **Being true to oneself, not for the sake of others** That is what makes Deadpool... a Deadpool, Dante such a fun character, DoomGuy a bad***** I went off-topic... Blaze is a more serious, 'on the clock' professional balerina/royalty **More akin to a Prima Veladonna** . And just like Bayo, she cares, she cares too much than she would like to admit... She does flashy stuff, and prefers to work by herself. Both characters also appear to have a healthy friendly dynamic while being competent on their own... BeeG (Dante vs Bayonetta) 'Bayonetta 1 modded video' kinda was an inspiration for this rant **I blame him for inspiration** So mathematically F(x) - Sonic/Dante F(-x) - Shadow/Vergil -F(x) - Blaze/Bayonetta -F(-x) - Silver/Nero **Wtf does it work and kinda makes sense?**
to be honest any 3d platformer could be called action adventure games, and breath of the wild is also an action adveture game, so lets just refer to them s hack and slash, cause its the easiest one. action games could be anything that has some form of way to attack in real time in it, even mobas
Perfect for shadow game Shadow the hedgehog 2 Idk if you played shadow the hedgehog it's action 3d platformer very fun game I hope platnium uses more characters not just sonic and shadow like silver and espio because they fit alot I mean i wanted them to focus different charaters not just sonic only
Have you ever played Spiderman: Friend or Foe? It's a action game (a simple one lol) that's based off of combos and platforming done through teamwork, which fits Sonic really well. You could even have a similar team system, where you always have the main protagonist along with partners you can unlock during the story. You could also do upgrades in a similar fashion, where you collect points that unlock each new item in various skill trees that you can customize to your liking. Idk if the action mechanics in that game would work well for Sonic, but it's a good starting point nonetheless.
I agree with all of this, but if they're gonna utilize his ball form lets... not do that TOO much, ball form is kinda lazy and we don't want a repeat of Sonic in Super Smash Bros. Yes I know this is VERY different, but lets have like not have EVERY move put him in ball, don't make it boring visually
I personally don't think this should happen...yet. I think a Platinumsonic game would work maybe in the future when SEGA's more stable with him but not now. But anyways...hm well how about this hypothetical idea: what if instead of more like transformers it's kinda more like NiER? Because there is this thing where you can do crazy fast combos in that game: ruclips.net/video/8n5mywGsnsg/видео.html Like keep some of what you said from transformers and other games in there to use (like a spindash charging strike and such) but the game is more like NA. And as for weapons why not just make it like your standard beat 'em up where you can find them on the ground (like chairs to throw, etc.) and use them like that. Like I mean keep the team system as you said (also on that topic I'd let them all have separate health bars like in FF7 remake) but I'm just talking about weapons. What I also suggest on that topic is maybe some projectile moves for Sonic like maybe he can do a quick punch and send a wind bullet so to speak or an after image at his target. ...Now call this greed but I was flirting with an idea where chao can be more like pods from Nier. Different chao give you different shooting attack and styles but frankly I don't think that would be necessary in this type of game. Also the game doesn't need this but I remember Bayonetta has sections where you end up running upside down, upwards, and in all directions defying gravity. And she goes really fast when she's using Panther Within. Of course you know how Sonic games deal with loops and things which is why I bring this up. Now, you wouldn't have to worry about momentum physics in here but I think something like going upside down and such would be fun to see in the game and maybe Sonic would fall off just when he slows down enough and depending on his angle. And I would call the game something like "Sonic Aegis" particularly as a reference to SEGA's AGES but also because the word means "with the support of a group or team" (and it's also interpreted a shield or crest in the Illiad) and in that case I think would fit with the whole team mechanic motif of the game.
The combat in Nier is a major downgrade compared to all the other Platinum titles I talked about. You basically just spam the dodge everywhere and hold down the shoot button while occasionally mashing the attack button and hoping something cool happens. The game never properly teaches you how to perform certain actions either, I remember looking everywhere for some kind of move list or combo chains and couldn't find them. It was a real shame because the game makes you fight soooo many enemies across this enormous, boring open world but since the combat is lame, it's not fun to play. It's kind of sad that the best part of the game were the end credits of Route E, I genuinely thought the game was at its best there, in a section that had nothing to do with the rest of the game.
Unfortunately my current living situation means I can basically never record audio. My family is at home every day because of the way Covid changed everything right as this video was being edited. I'd love to make videos again!...but I can't. I'm still active on Twitter and stuff though.
Man, the hack n slash is pretty much my favourite genre of games, with games like both Bayonetta games, DMC 5, Transformers Devastation, Spider-Man Web of Shadows, God of War, Darksiders 2 and Nier Automata being some of my favourite games of all time. So I would obviously bust 300 nuts if Platinum, one of my fav developers, made a game for my favourite game character. I think the biggest hurdle to overcome here is animation and character design. Sonic characters are generally small, with large hands and feet, and very little range. It's one of the reasons their Boom counterparts are taller, and why the Werehog had stretchy limbs. So they might need some slight redesigns to fit this gameplay style. I also feel like it won't happen because of how the Werehog was received initially. Despite the Werehog being quite good, Sonic fans bounced off it because it was too different and not fast enough. The worst part of it was simply the platforming.
the problem is though sonic needs to first define himself in his own games first before he can taclte anything like spinoffs, but maybe down the road they could attempt this
To be honest, they could've done this with Shadow The Hedgehog if they went all in on the combat as the focus of that game
I never realized how badly I wanted this until now
Hey that's why I ask for a Black knight sequel
@@nashahara i wouldnt mind another storybook game.(or sonic and bayonetta having a non-smash bros. crossover game/both appearing in the next sega all stars game.:3)
Me 3 Minutes into the video: "SO basically you want a Sonic game that plays the way that Unleashed CG Opening looks"
I'd say I want an cgi intro like the shadow the hedgehog with more quality! But idk something about those where great!
The animation at the beginning is better than anything that SEGA has put out in recent years
I worked very hard on it (but it could still use some polish). Thank you! Although the Mania stuff still counts as official Sonic stuff that's been released by SEGA in the past few years and I don't know how well I can compete with that.
TelekinesticMan my bad. In meant in the case of 3D. The squash and stretch presented in your animation is just done so well
@@telekinesticman cmon the sprites in sonic mania are nowhere near as lively as your animation, give yourself credit dude
@@Rex67Diego9 I believe he's talking about the 2D animated opening at the start of the game, but doesn't mean he could dish out something just as good with enough time B)
@DD - 05DB 960849 Queenston Drive PS I said “recent years” as in like the last 5.
The intros to rival and boss battles in Sonic Generations are a pretty good representation of how I'd envision intros to boss battles in a game like this
Yeah actually, not a bad idea. Works well for setting up the general premise of the fight without overstaying their welcome.
Totally agree! Glad the point came through in the video.
"I don't think this'll ever happen as much as I love this idea"
Sonic fandom: *cracks knuckles* hold my beer
I hope so, man! Or maybe someone at Platinum can see this and go "hmm not a bad idea" and get some ideas rolling.
So i'm NOT the only one who saw Sonic in Dante. Like, come on they're scarily similar
i honestly see big similarities with all 3 (sonic, bayonetta and dante) as their pretty damn snarky at times(even though i personally like bayonetta and dantes playful banter more than sonic's,though i did find some of his lines in unleashed, colors and generations funny.:3) and are laid back with getting involved against threats(i even when younger called bayonetta a mix of dante and sonics personalities.) while having goofy interactions with their friends and have emotional/soft moments at times. (sonic with tails and occasionally amy like in sonic unleashed as well as his characterization in the movie, dante with his friends lady, trish, nero and brother vergil and bayonetta with jeanne and her younger self cereza.)
I agree Dante acts how sonic should act.
@@tracyndiyob162 maybe that the reason why those three are in smt dx2
As of right now, the Super Sonic fights from Sonic Frontiers are the closest thing to having a PlatinumGames spin-off.
I think something like Devil May Cry 4's inertia mechanic would work wonders for a Sonic combat action game.
Thank you!! And yeah I'll most likely get Wonderful 101 on PC when it comes out.
That animation was so crisp and clean. The amount of expressions and details in the face are just amazing as the Sonic movie.
Some random thoughts on how a platinum approach could add to the established Sonic gameplay:
-The sliding swing-kick could launch enemies into the air instead of destroying them, and then Sonic could jump into them and give himself some height like in Generations.
You also have a good amount of monsters to fight apart of Eggman's robots
About the health bar, it could work like in Sonic Smackdown, that the rings fill your health bar, but that only the enemies and hidden capsules drops them. The rings could also work for leveling up the characters and unlocking new habilities (like the system the Werehog had in Unleashed)
(and about that Sonic now does cringy bad jokes.... mmm that's not true at all, Sonic was almost always like that)
And while Platinum Games works on that, the Sonic Team could focus on another title, perhaps with the boost formula (that's my favorite style of gameplay xd)
Jason Campbell I know about it but I want a new, legitimate Sonic fighting game.
For the name, how about Sonic: Chaos Theory?
I was thinking the story could be that the Chaos Emeralds are starting to act kinda strange, possibly due to Eggman's shenanigans, so Sonic and crew have to stop him (this is just an idea)
The playable characters could be Sonic, Knuckles, Tails and Amy (with other characters like Shadow, Rouge, Omega and even Blaze being unlockables or DLC)
no i got another name, how about Sonic: the... oh forget it your name is better
At first, I thought the team mechanics you mentioned would be weird. "Like, I don't want to play as three characters at the same time."
But when you explained further, I thought it would be very interesting.
For when I said about wanting to see Sonic play abit like DMC, it truly became a bit of a monkey's paw moment
😆😅
You made me want a game I never knew I needed
Really thought on my own on this, you really took the words and ideas outta my mouth, Man I hope SEGA acknowledges this!!
No cap, that animation is better than any official cutscene movement in the 2010s LOL YIKES....great video, keep doing your thing!
Generations?
Sonic Freedom Fighters.
That is the only title idea I have.
Nice squash and stretch on that animation.
As an animator myself, I see how much effort was put into that.
And I want a sonic fighting game by arc system works.
I feel shocked about the crossover video. Amazing work.
Edit: I also thought why Platinum was so cool, it’s because the more realistic, the better. And I was really a fan of PlatinumGames btw.
I have been wanting this for YEARS.
Wow Really nice and fluid sonic animation. I love his voice too.
When you said Hideki Naganuma... my mind went "!!!" really cool video, super fun to think about strange spin off ideas
I'd dig a Sonic game made by Platinum, as long as it's balls to the wall like their usual games.
When I first started watching I thought this would be such a stretch for a spin off but youve really sold me on the concept
you know a 3d knuckles chaotix would fit this spinoff idea perfectly
Yes. Every thing yes. This must happen right now.
This is an amazing pitch man! I never really thought about how well a Sonic action game could work until now. Also, nice animation at the beginning. Super clean and expressive!
This would be perfect for Shadow the Hedgehog instead of Sonic.
Maybe Team Dark X Bayonetta??
I think it can work with sonic thx to frontiers
Sonic Freedom Fighters
And this could totally work, the template is already there. Eggman takes over the world and Sonic Knuckles and tails form the freedom fighters and bring in more characters into the group, unlocking them for missions as they push back his influence in different Zones
Imagine if Black Knight was originally developed by PlatinumGames (even though it came out before any PG title)
Your Thumbnail Caught My Heart For Some Reason
I love platinum games's games especially metal gear rising and transformers devastation. I really want a sonic platinum games game it would fit very well in my opinion
Cool concept, I hope this inspires a fangame (from someone with more experience than me lol)
Also nice animation and diorama.
Jeez this animation looks Basically just saying that sonic looks just as good in this animation as he did in wreck it Ralph 2!
#Sonic&PlatinumG
My idea maybe would be a least be on a smaller scale.
I think there should also be dialogue between the characters in the team like Sonic Heroes, like Having banter and such and just flavour dialogue during gameplay to flesh out the personalities of each.
and I don't think that Sonic would stand there all smugly talking but he would do back and fourths with the enemy while fighting them
Agreed! Some of my favourite stuff in DMC5 is the flavour dialogue in boss battles between the player characters and bosses.
Great video!! A lot of good points as well. Perhaps a petition is in order. :D Keep up the good fight!
I say weapons in quotes because I mean shoes, gloves, hammer, bracelets, gadgets, etc.
dope animation!
So Sonic got simped by Bayonetta? Sad.
*Shadow the Hedgehog 2* by Platinum games
**Sonic Battle + Sonic Heroes fans liked that**
I'd make the wisps Sonic's styles.
Maybe they can pull it off and mix both but we’ll see it’s pure speculation tho, Sonic game made by platinum games is just one of my dream so i’m might just be geekin out 😅
Sonic you can just ask Shadow to borrow a gun
I want another crack at a sonic rpg since the mario ones are dead now
With sonic his moveset in sonic battle is more freestyle.
Another idea for this is the chao buddy system similar to that of sonic chronicles the dark brotherhood.
Yeah, if Chao ever came back I'd like to see them integrated into the main gameplay a bit more, kinda like in Chronicles. Everything else in that game kinda sucks though.
The only thing I disagree with is what you said about Neir Automata, and DMC1.
I also agree about automata. The gameplay is kinda bad
Let Raiden the Hedgehog have his Metal Gear Rising Revengeance (now Nagito Komaeda the Hedgehog I guess)
Meanwhile I'd be down for Platinum just outright taking over the series. Chaos knows Sonic needs SOME competent staff nowadays.
Sonic frontiers reminded me of nier auto mata and tmnt mutants in Manhattan so much now i want platinum games to work on a sonic game
#BlazeForBayonetta
it's been only a couple of days since exploring sonic related media, but it is interesting that there are similar ideas dating so far back by the present time...
**Sincerity**
No king arthur legends & mythos, No Alternative Personas, No War Heroes like Sephiroth, No delusions, **Being true to oneself, not for the sake of others**
That is what makes Deadpool... a Deadpool, Dante such a fun character, DoomGuy a bad*****
I went off-topic...
BeeG (Dante vs Bayonetta) 'Bayonetta 1 modded video' kinda was an inspiration for this rant **I blame him for inspiration**
So mathematically
F(x) - Sonic/Dante
F(-x) - Shadow/Vergil
-F(x) - Blaze/Bayonetta
-F(-x) - Silver/Nero
**Wtf does it work and kinda makes sense?**
to be honest any 3d platformer could be called action adventure games, and breath of the wild is also an action adveture game, so lets just refer to them s hack and slash, cause its the easiest one. action games could be anything that has some form of way to attack in real time in it, even mobas
Prequel spinoff announced a few hours ago for March
Perfect for shadow game
Shadow the hedgehog 2
Idk if you played shadow the hedgehog it's action 3d platformer very fun game
I hope platnium uses more characters not just sonic and shadow like silver and espio because they fit alot I mean i wanted them to focus different charaters not just sonic only
Have you ever played Spiderman: Friend or Foe? It's a action game (a simple one lol) that's based off of combos and platforming done through teamwork, which fits Sonic really well. You could even have a similar team system, where you always have the main protagonist along with partners you can unlock during the story. You could also do upgrades in a similar fashion, where you collect points that unlock each new item in various skill trees that you can customize to your liking. Idk if the action mechanics in that game would work well for Sonic, but it's a good starting point nonetheless.
Sounds interesting! I've played a handful of Spider-Man games but not that one specifically.
Nice video
The closest thing is Spark the Electric Jester 2/3.
bigredbutton could've made a great game if they didn't have strip down half of sonic boom to be able to accommodate for the inferior wii.u
Isn't the next one Project GG? Platinum 4 I mean.
A Sonic spin off developed by the competition behind my waifu’ as titles? Don’t make me beg!
I want it to.
Not liking Nier Automata but loving Platinum Games is just crazy.
Agree @@telekinesticman
And he was never hurd from again.....
Unfortunately my current living situation means I can basically never record audio. My family is at home every day because of the way Covid changed everything right as this video was being edited. I'd love to make videos again!...but I can't. I'm still active on Twitter and stuff though.
@@telekinesticman oh sorry 😔
@@telekinesticman I'll be waiting for ya. Hope your living situation gets better. Best wishes to you and your family
4:39 you DO realize Big Red Button was sabotaged by Sega, Right?
Oh my god I thought I was the only one
Maybe something like a reboot of shadow the hedgehog where they add more guns and swords from the soni sword game
I wish they did this for frontiers
Hopefully in a sequel
maybe you could talk to a fangame developer to maybe make a demo of the kind of game your suggeting
You...
You just made Sonic Adventure 3...
The worst part of it was simply the platforming.
the problem is though sonic needs to first define himself in his own games first before he can taclte anything like spinoffs, but maybe down the road they could attempt this
Why bother letting platinum games make a combat system when Sega can just hire THAT MAN to do it for them?
