After suffering years of miscarriages, a Sumatran rhino named Rosa finally gave birth to a healthy female calf on March 24, 2022, at Way Kambas National Park in Sumatra, Indonesia. The global conservation body WWF estimates that there are fewer than 80 of the critically endangered rhinos left in the world. Successful births of Sumatran rhinos are extremely rare, and coupled with multiple threats including poaching and climate change, the species has been brought to the brink of extinction.

Look at mama as her natural instincts are kicking in to care for her newborn. Thank you to the team of veterinarians whom helped bring joy into the world!
That's really great news! I remember when we made a video about Iman, Malaysia's last sumatran rhino. Such a wonderful creature. Hope always dies last!
indeed!
I love ur videos!
Uhm that's my names pronunciation but different spelling 💀
@@snowy8988 So???
claiming sumatran rhino ? disgusting... not wondering
eight miscarriages? wow. glad she finally had a safe and healthy baby. congrats!
It makes me wonder if the species is prone to genetic abnormalities- maybe the fathers are old too, eight is a lot for a healthy animal
That whole national Park only has 8... Imagine that
Let's all wish that baby makes it/survives into adulthood
@@acid_tongue_4315 Yes they are, though its more like if the female did not breed they will develop cyst like tumor rendering them infertile (like malaysians population). This was not known in the past.

Those poachers should be heavily charged and penalised for bringing them to near extinction. Instead of all of our beautiful animals going extinct, let the poachers get extinct. No chance given to them
Fun fact: All poachers came from U.S. That why, they had enough of their so-call indo-pacific to created another terrorist organization like NATO.
There are so many of 'em too. There's no way all will be caught and given justice. The situation with poachers is a pretty complex one sadly :(
It should be legal to poach the poachers. Let them taste their own medicine. Tell the rangers to shoot them on-site.
Remember how poachers Hunt the endangered species well let’s anthropomorphize them and imagine if the roles were suddenly reversed
no, customers are the ones who should pay the price,Those poachers are just following orders, follow the money trail and you'll find the real culprits.
After the last Malaysian Sumatran Rhino dies in 2019... Only Indonesia is the only country who have Sumatran Rhino... Glad that they have baby now...
A glimmer of hope in the world. The Asian century holds great promise for ALL living creatures of the world. Humans and animals alike simply can't take any more colonialism!
I bet if you got some DNA samples from the living ones right now you can make more and prevent them from becoming extinct all together
Beautiful news😍 hope they will breed more 😇🙏 and Indonesia government will give more attention to protecting all endangered wildlife set the strict laws and order to punished the poacher.

Amazing ❤️
This appears on our Philippine broadcasting network because this baby rhino is RARE!
and one that is found in neighboring countries went extinct
My campus cant stop talking about it either, its almost miracle for us
i life in sumatra and happy with this
i only saw in the wild one in 2005 and that is so awesome
and make me want to learn more about it
Fabulous news on the conservation efforts 👏
Well done Indonesia from Thailand
such a pleasant news to hear 🥺
After their extinction in Malaysia I feel this gives me slight hope.....
Same here. It is vry unfortunate this Rhino had to go despite numerous attempt. Next is our Sumatran tiger which is also critically endangered but despite that some state governments are eager carrying out deforestation via logging. Even conservationist are unable to spot one in wild but illegal poachers and logging companies sure find one most of the time which is very sad and the response of federal gov is vry weak on this issue.
@@youknowme2322 Is Malayan tiger rarer or Sumatran?

Well said and thank you.
@@hunterhq295 both are same
The species only predators is the human..we destroyed their habitat...only now when all is lost we spend time and efforts to revive back the species .
Such beautiful animals.
We must protect and preserve all rhino for future generations .]with locals and goverment help charities .
Love it simply because it's a miracle
Congratulations...!! 🇨🇦
😊😊😊 may their population growing back. Love from malaysia
That is so cute. ❤️😘
Two indonesian rhino species!
Sumatran rhinos📈🦏80
Javan rhinos📈🦏75
Awww so cute 💜
It is sad to hear less than 80 are left in this species
Beautiful baby Rhino. Looks like a big piglet.
Wish the calf makes it to adulthood ☺️☺️☺️
what a sight to behold !
So happy to see it 😍
Vietnamese and Chinese love rhinos horn, that why most southeast Asian rhino totally Wipeout in Malay peninsular, Borneo, Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia, only in Sumatra and Java still exist.
they should eat human nails instead, since it was made from the same materials as rhino's horn
I hope that Indonesian Government will protect Sumatran rhinos 💙🥰
Wow,,, a typical Indonesian one-horned rhino. That's so beautiful.
One-horned rhino only found in west java.
This is Sumatran rhino
Sumatran rhino is double-horned rhino, in Indonesia also have one-horned rhino that is Javan Rhino in Western Java
One horned rhino is Javan rhino not Sumatran
Heart warming. Way to go Way Kambas! I wonder why Indonesian media does not make any news about this.
Media indonesia juga beritain kali
hadeh, padahal beritanya ada dimana2, jangan suka ngasih narasi gak benerlah, malu2in
❤️❤️❤️
🦏 Hope there will be more successful birth in the future! 🦏
This is hope!
Excellent! If we're careful for some more decades, Sumatran rhinos will thrive again.
Not likely. Their numbers and genetic diversity have dwindled exponentially, they are slow breeders, they do terribly in captivity and poachers keep trying to bag what few are left. Everything is against their survival. Same for the Javan rhino. The Indian rhino is the only Asian rhino who might have a future if we keep protecting it.
@@daliborjovanovic510 javan rhino is increasing
Nature is magic ❤
So cute
Congratulations!
That's probably the ugliest calf I've ever seen. But still, those rhinos have the right to exist.
Why do humans only care about saving an animal just before they drive it extinct? Care about them when they are plentiful and keep it that way. Breeding in captivity does nothing for a species if they won't be released into the wild
It's not that easy to release an animal back to the wild (especially the ones that are born in captivity). Their rehabilitation process is so complicated and long. Ofc that's the end goal, but it will take a very long time. As long as we keep persevering, hopefully it can happen asap 😊
because human breeding like rabits. how to sustain human's need without sacrificing one or two things? i said this as an indonesian we want everything cheap, we enjoy convenient lifestyle, we want to keep our environment intact while we keep breeding like rabits. you think thats logical?
I read that Indonesians don't have such a high fertility rate anymore.
Changing culture is not that simple
Done watching,sending my support
There is actually 81 Sumatran rhino not 80
They're quite small compare to their African counterparts. Beautiful species!
Yes! they are actually the smallest species of rhinos 😁👍
we have 4000+ rhinos in india
It's smallest but the closest relatives to the extinct wholly rhino.
Alhamdulilah
Wow 8 miscarriages, so happy for this mama ❤️
Cuteeeeee
Keep it up
Alhamdulillah
I hope the baby doesn’t get killed
How about annexation of an island for Rhino habitation program, a shame to see its population dwindling to zero.
Semoga tidak punah

Marco called it unicorns 🦄 😂😂😂😂
The extinct Philippine rhinoceros probably looks similar to the Sumatran rhinoceros
Yes south East Asia was originally one big land mass
Philippines also had rhino, really ???
@@erickchandra3771 Yes,there were once rhinos roaming the Philippines thousands of years ago

Incredible
Sumatran rhinos are the closest living to the Woolly rhino, if we don't act soon they will go extinct just like Woolly rhinos!
There isn't much hope. Their numbers and genetic diversity have dwindled exponentially, they are slow breeders, they do terribly in captivity and poachers keep trying to bag what few are left. Everything is against their survival.
@@daliborjovanovic510 What about in-vitro gametogenesis?
Beautiful animal.
