I often went back to China during summer and my grandpa wanted to bring me to see the waterfall near yandang mountain range while he was still young enough to climb mountains with me and we were pretty disappointed that the waterfall was just a stream being blown by the wind, which led to most of the water hitting the walls instead of becoming a waterfall. But knowing that a waterfall was faked is more disappointing than that.

The volume of water coming from pipe does not match the volume of water from waterfall. I doubt it’s tap water as they would need pumps to push water up a high cliff. Pumps require electricity and they are pretty noisy. The pipes are likely a bypass for water from the source that can’t flow over its usual path during the dry season. It is not just to appease tourists but helps preserve the waterfall its self as a dried up waterfall will grow vegetation and will alter the water fall’s appearance over time. The constant water flow helps the waterfall from disappearing.
They could have told tourists that it’s water fountain instead of claiming it’s tallest water fall.
