This is more for families and friends who can share a single cabin. Most business travellers would rather have a private cabin (or even a capsule, like in those capsule hotels) for the overnight journey.
Agree I think they could have redesign the sleeper train better, instead of 4x4 bed with too many people in one room they should have design it with middle split 2 X 2 bed side window and sitting, with 2nd floor stairs separated completely from the bottom. that way you can enjoy way more comfort and less noises.

In the future, the Hong Kong high-speed rail can continue to expand its "high-speed sleeper train tourism", starting in the evening and arriving in the morning. The cost of hotel accommodation for passengers can also be reduced, and tour leaders and guides can accurately control the travel time. The next morning, you can go to the scenic spots to eat, drink, and have fun. For example, departing from West Kowloon in Hong Kong at 6, 7, or 8 in the evening, you can sleep on the sleeper train for about one night, and then arrive in Beijing from 6am to 8am the next day. Moreover, the destination is "Beijing West Station" which is also considered within the urban area and is very convenient. With the popularity of this new type of travel mode starting from Kowloon West(HK), it is believed that in the future, not only will Hong Kong tourists like to travel along the popular Beijing Shanghai line, but also other high-speed rail lines in the mainland of Chinese Mainland are also very attractive, which will certainly be more popular with travel groups of different ages or backgrounds (including young people groups); A large number of group tours can increase the passenger volume of high-speed trains, stimulate domestic demand and consumption, and promote the prosperity of various industries, including cultural tourism, catering and entertainment, hotels and homestays, tourism and transportation. In the future, as long as all necessary supporting facilities and services for "dynamic sleeper train tours" continue to improve, both inside and everywhere on the high-speed train will be clean, tidy, bright, and with high-quality services. In this way, there are also different ways and choices of tourism travel, and the local tourism industry will undoubtedly usher in a new tourism boom, adding brilliance to Hong Kong's tourism. 👍👏✌

@TeeHee-vo1bn you have the freedom to choose between public transportation and cars, with both being competitive in certain situations. So what if you're getting off at x stop and are sleeping? Do you have to set an alarm for yourself or is there a way for them to signal your room that you need to get off?
I've heard that the regular high speed trains to Beijing and Shanghai get there in about 8 hours, compared to about 12 hours for the sleepers. Something to consider. However, since the sleeper trains are overnight by definition, this can 'save time' because you'll be sleeping (hopefully).
China's 350-kilometer-per-hour Fuxing high-speed railroads basically only run during the day, with 250-kilometer-per-hour trains at night, presumably for safety reasons.

Well, the distance is longer, so it has to be faster to be convenient. The European Sleeper from Prague to Brussels still departs in the evening and arrives in the morning, which is what you want with a night train. What is the point in arriving in Brussels at 4 am?
We could've had this between Singapore and KL, even Penang or Thailand. But no, SOMEONE had to go gum the whole thing up, saddle Malaysia with a massive unnecessary cancellation bill, and for nothing!
Living in Europe (although the trains are slower) I prefer to catch trains. But my rule is simple, if it's over 4 hours long and the cost are about the same I will fly. Although this is an overnight train (so you save on your hotel), I rather pay for a bit more for a hotel considering the train fare is more expensive than a flight and it won't take as long and I get the privacy of my own room rather than sharing with 4 other people with no private bathrooms. I rode on overnight trains in Egypt which is less new and glamours, but I don't think I will do this train ride. It will be interesting to see long term how popular this route is considering the train is not exactly amazing and it takes half a day to get to the final destination.
For most people concerning, business travelers tend to travel on the business class cabin of express services in the day time which travels at 350kmh and finish the journey around 7 hours instead of on sleeper trains like this only travels at 250kmh. The is more for middle class passenger who want to travel overnight to save one no night of hotel cost.
Well, that's because they left so early. I think this arrival time suits business trips, not private. This way you can easily enjoy a breakfast and then go to a meeting. If it turns out to be popular they can order more trains and have another one that departs and arrives later.

I took regular sleeper train in 2018 from Peking to Hong Kong, price is the same but u can have a two people compartment, a single person sofa and a private bathroom for the same price as those new EMU-Sleeper. And to be honest it will take 26hrs😂
This choice depends on how you travel. Planes are faster and slightly more comfortable, but require a longer trip to the airport (outside the city center, allow at least 2 hours each way to get to airport and left from airport, plus your security check time). Trains are slower and less comfortable (though not catastrophic), but easier to get to and from the city center. Trains may not be suitable for very long distances, but if you are starting in Hong Kong and may not need to cross the Yangtze River, you can consider trains. This is the lowest level of high-speed rail sleeper train service, don't expect too much, at least at the terminal, the crew will still clean the beds.
The regular HSR trains to Shanghai and Beijing (not the sleepers) are about 8 hours. But some people might opt for sleeper trains to save time they'd be spending sleeping anyway.
Yes, it’s shameful that in the US there is no high speed and well developed passenger railway system. But, let’s not forget what was often said about Mussolini, “He made the trains run on time.”
Can someone let us (overseas Chinese) know how to make reservation and book for a seat on this train (HK to Shanghai)? Any website accessible from the USA?
seems like a total nightmare unless you're traveling in a group of 4, not to mention it cost more than plane in terms of fare and time, and most people wouldn't be able to sleep well in a bunkbed like that.
Hexie trains run at 300kmph max and I'm almost certain it does get up to that, since I've taken a 7 hour Hexie train from xi'an to beijing, and hong kong to beijing is gonna be nearly twice that distance
On he Guangzhou (I'm using Guangzhou, a nearby city to Hong Kong, as Hong Kong currently doesnt have any slow trains) to Beijing route, the speed is halved. On the Guangzhou to Shanghai route, its around 30% faster. On the Guangzhou to Beijing route, I would high recommend this train. However it may be more worth it to take the slow train to Shanghai. The high speed trains do have better scheduling though.
Sleeper train isn't new for China. China has changed one old tech train into one. It's slow but you can enjoy beautiful views from bed. But high speed is completely new. That's impressive.
This is all nice but imaging four strangers are travelling in cabin, there is literally no privacy there and the upper bunk looks like it can fall down anytime.

I took regular sleeper train in 2018 from Peking to Hong Kong, price is the same but u can have a two people compartment, a single person sofa and a private bathroom for the same price as those new EMU-Sleeper. And to be honest it will take 26hrs😂
Another milestone of super-fast rail connectivity from China.
Planes are not more comfortable. Not even close.
En México la linea a Shanghai le llamaríamos el costero ( sea coast train) 😅
awesome!
In America, we have the Amtrak
Why did you waste money to build HSR to LA?
Yes, it’s shameful that in the US there is no high speed and well developed passenger railway system. But, let’s not forget what was often said about Mussolini, “He made the trains run on time.”
@@clacicle
at least you don't have to subsidise the white elephant using your tax money
@@Hkchinese888 boy do i have news for you.
@@juamu1132 Nah, cctv is my news source, comrade
I wish our sleeper train is that smooth
Taking the train also has a much smaller carbon footprint than flying. There should be more awareness of this.
Now all I need is for Cathy to restart direct flights to where I live
You speak English incredibly well. So easy to understand you! Pleasant voice as well.
Congrats we still waitiiiiing for ours
This is a train experience, glad to have different choices in travelling through China.❤
Do you need a Visa to enter China from Hongkong ?
Yes
Next weekend I will go from Shanghai to Hong Kong
南华早报为什么不考虑添加CC字幕呢
Very nice ❤
That’s so cool
This provides another option and experience.
Can someone let us (overseas Chinese) know how to make reservation and book for a seat on this train (HK to Shanghai)? Any website accessible from the USA?
When you travel to Hong Kong, take the MTR train to Kowloon Station, the staffs will let you know everything about high speed rail to mainland China.

1:16 "sleeper train for sightseeing..." what?
can see some sight before getting dark.
@@mangcike And probably even some after dark.
She meant- it is more comfortable to take a sleeper train (for sightseeing in the destination city).
seems like a total nightmare unless you're traveling in a group of 4, not to mention it cost more than plane in terms of fare and time, and most people wouldn't be able to sleep well in a bunkbed like that.
15 minutes, not bad. Imho, if it involves 2 different nations, it might take longer.
“train tickets are sold out within hours "
Meanwhile trains to Shenzhen: *solds out within minutes*
Very cool
And here we are in India where it takes 9 to 10 hours to travel to another city which is less than 320 kilometers away
Changsha to Beijing will be perfect as 8hr ride starting at 11pm, go to sleep right away.
how fast are these trains in km/h compared to the normal services?
Hexie trains run at 300kmph max and I'm almost certain it does get up to that, since I've taken a 7 hour Hexie train from xi'an to beijing, and hong kong to beijing is gonna be nearly twice that distance
the video said 250kph.
It's 12 hours on a sleeper train, not a cruise ship. For me the price needs to be a lot more competitive to be an attractive option.
Is the dude that said that the upper bed height is a little tight gonna be ok?
This is all nice but imaging four strangers are travelling in cabin, there is literally no privacy there and the upper bunk looks like it can fall down anytime.
I hear the secrets that you keep
When we’re crashing in our sleep
That old lady actually sleeps better on the 70x200 train bed than her home. She's also make-up ready for the interview. Wow!
Lady is enough, without the old.
so, what is problm for you ?
@@L110508 That's right, she is not that old.
Why are you assuming they were interviewing her right as she woke up? A very weird ASSumption to make on your part.
So weird how many people can't take a joke/cheeky comment.
I actually waited to see the train leave Shenzhen. Wish others were there with me.
So proud of the hong kong people! Being able to travel there after all the protests Seems freedom doesn't feed them
