Clear and concise. You just helped out a man with no sewing experience whatsoever. Sewed a shank button back onto a coat I love that I only owned for a week! I did it first try. And now I know what a shank button is. Thank you.
Haha! I had a similar problem. The shank button on my formal dress that I got just 30 minutes earlier came off, and no one ever taught me how to sew on a button like that.
This was a lifesaver for me and it was super easy to follow I used to take textile classes in school but we never got the chance to actually practice hand sewing; usually we were just assigned a project to make something and watched the teacher do a demonstration of the stitches a couple of times, then most of the time we ended up needing her help/her to finish it for us
thanks a lot, I had sewing homework and was completely clueless about sewing buttons. this was clear and easy to understand, I was very happy with my first button :)
Thanks for making this video. I had to sift through a lot of videos on RUclips before I finally find an instructional sewing video that was straightforward and helpful. Much appreciated
It actually worked!! Another man who has never sewed before. I just finished my 2nd 4 hole button on my 2nd work pants (both buttons fell off). The hardest part of the process was feeding the thread through the tiny eye of the needle, with my big hand and fingers. I tried the day before and gave up frustrated. But after watching another you-tube of a lady mentioning that a little beeswax over the end of the thread would help with the feed, it worked for me. And the enlarged closeups in your video was a lifesaver! Thanks so much!!
Glad I put off reattaching the button onto one of my favorite shirts for literal *months* only to learn how easy and quick it is to fix 😅 Thanks for your help!
This is the most informative and helpful youtube tutorial i have ever seen!! Thank you so much it really helped me alot! I sewed my first button in less than five minutes😊
1 tip I learned from my grandmother, if the fabric/garment is on the thick side, put a pin or a toothpick between the 2 or 4 hole button and garment as you sew it on. When you're done sewing, pull out the toothpick/pin and it makes a thread 'shank' so the thread is less stressed and less likely to break again.
My giddy aunt!. I'm a 50 year old man who needed to stitch 2 four hole buttons. I should have filmed it for you all. Talk about slapstick comedy.😂 It took me 30 & 20 minutes respectively with .25 playback speed. 🤫I got there in the end however, so ladies.. I love and salute you!. 🫡 Thank you Treasurie for the posting🙏🏻
This was soo helpful. I needed to know how to sew a 4 hole button back onto a pair of shorts for my husband. Thank you so much. I also know what a shank button is now. I've seen those types of buttons before but never knew they had a name. :)
Just lost the buttons on my favourite pair of dungarees so had to sew a couple new ones on. Had no clue how to but this video really helped! Thank you so much for your help!
I saw another person teaching how to sew a shank button onto something but she made it look so difficult looking that I was afraid to try it. Thankyou for showing it in a way that now I won't be afraid to try it. Now I can wear my skirt for the Christmas Eve service tomorrow night 😊🎄
Thanks to your video I was able to fix my dress that lost two buttons, and tomorrow I'm going to be working on a jacket that I have to resew the button to! Saving money and learning new skills!❤
Thank you so much for your video!! I finally sewed a button for the first time in my life at the age of 30. I've always had a strong aversion to sewing but I finally did it today. Thank you again and God bless you!
Thanks for the video! I've sewed on buttons a few times, just winging it, but you showed me a couple of really good techniques that I was seriously missing. Thanks again, sincerely!
Hey thank you so much this really helped me! I sewed it fine until after I accidentally stabbed my self with the needle and it was stuck in my finger when I lifted my hand up! 😂😅😂 I am terrible at sewing! 😂😂😂🤣😅🤣😅
Thanks. I needed to learn it eventually and gave me the helping hand in a quick, accurate and observable way. I am ADHD, therefore this combination was vital
Thankyou for this video I bought a new dress and the button came out I sewed it myself but without your help it would be impossible and I subscribed you
Thanks for the video. I had never sown a button so I needed to know how when one fell off the coat of my suit. This was the most helpful video I found, some others were needlessly complicated using match sticks or just plain skipped steps like beginning or finish.
A huge help! I'm in theater and my costumes buttons fell off mid shoot. Bought some new (Better quality & better fitting) buttons to add onto the costume, just didn't want to have the same mistake as last time with the incorrect sewing used to put the buttons on! Big help on my part!
Great video! I screwed up though Haha even tried taking it slow. But that's on me, now I know the correct way for next time. Thanks for the simple and multiple types of buttons!
I got a jacket for Christmas and wore it ONCE before managing to rip off a button. Thanks for the help! (Luckily I kept track of the button and didn't have to use the spare) I've known how to sew for a while, but didn't know a good way to sew a button on.
Can't Thank you enough For this Lovely video 🎀I needed To sew A 4- Hole button For Class & you literally saved Me; Was Able To sew in 5 minutes' & I've never sewn A button B4 Ever! Lot's of Love 💜💜💜💜💜

You are welcome. Most needles come with a little device called a needle threader. That can help too with threading.
