- The CT4-V Blackwing is the last if the internal combustion engine performance sedans from Cadillac. On the outside you will discover a rare color, 18in wheels, and functional cabon fiber aero bits. On the inside you will be greeted by custom leather performance seats, special Blackwing steering wheel, and a HUD. I'm old enough to remember when Cadillacs were luxurious rolling couches. My mother had a '77 Coupe De Ville. Today's Cadillacs are nothing like the old ones, and that's a GOOD thing.

@@Ev-mo Well that depends on the brand. For some brands people really wish they would make them like they used to. They were better in the past. And others like Cadillac the newer cars are a great improvement.
I’ve been shopping between the M3 and the Blackwing for a few months. I ended up ordering the Blackwing fully loaded at $78k. The M3 comparably with similar options was $93k. For the price and similar performance the Blackwing is hard to beat. I can’t wait until mine arrives !

If I had your money I would do the same exact thing and I have a 535is. Too bad GM didn't lavish a quarter of the goods on my SAAB Viggen instead you gotta do all kinds of chassis mods to keep it on the road and the GM pistons are prone to melting as well. I'll never sell it but hell yes I love the fact that Cadillac is showing up Europe in so many ways!

This color fits these Cadillac black wings so good. I saw someone else posted a video of a Cadillac ct5 v black wing with all the carbon fiber options on it and it was just freaking beautiful.

GM marketing sucks so bad. This and its regular CT-4 stablemates should be much more advertised. Really like the Cadillac Blackwing models, lovely autos!
Yeah GM doesn’t like advertising performance you’re right. I always wonder how many more Camaro’s they could’ve sold with proper marketing. It’s the best in it’s class after all.

Joe I’m in love with the CT-4 V Blackwing and I’ve never even driven one! I would rather buy an American made hot rod any day over a German car. Great review Joe and great camera work Lori! My only problem now is trying to find a local Cadillac dealer that has one of these beasts in stock! I do not want to pay $1,000 to have one shipped to me!

Never been a Cadillac guy but the CT 4 looks amazing, nice to that Cadillac is still making sedans. In this segment of luxury/performance a sedan is still relevant.

Joe, I've been a big fan of Raiti's Rides now for quite a while from Lori's rock solid yet pinpoint Videography to your honest, detailed and fun loving delivery! I've been a car Enthusiast since my 1st car at 16 years old which was a 1968 Ram-Air III 4-MT black on black Pontiac GTO.
I'm also a big BMW fanboy having had a few "M" Cars.
But after watching your first Drive & Track review of the 6 Speed manual CT4-V BW at the "Virginia International Raceway" Cadillac introduction event, it got my attention and I was able to snag a Beautiful "2022" Infrared Tintcoat Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing 6-MT with the optional Sky Gray Sport Seats and Carbon Fiber 1 & 2 Packages similar to the one you tested!

@@RaitisRides ok so CT4-V Blackwing I like the CT4 better than the M3 in terms of styling because I don't like the big BMW kidney grille it makes the BMWs ugly so if I was forced to pick one car it would be CT4 Blackwing so therefore I would go CT4 Blackwing over M3

Really a beautiful car. Love the color. Honestly I’d have to really think I’d take that over the M3. With that carbon aero and aggressive look it just has more of a unique and limited feel to me. Thanks for bringing it to us!
In 1981 my dad came home with the Cadillac Seville Elegante with the bustle back in two tone burgandy and champagne color - and THAT was the ultimate Caddy at that time - boy things have really changed. The CT4 is very impressive.

I think the CT4V BW is a better car all around and I love BMWs. Speaking for a base manual vs Blackwing manual comparison. The automatic vs a m3 comp I’d say comp wins it. I like it so much I have a CT4V BW 6 speed on order right now after going back and forth awhile as my next vehicle. Can’t stop watching videos on it! 😅

Great car but only makes about 425 hp on a dyno vs 520 for the M3/M4. Which one is more fun to drive is the question. The manual trans in the Cady is reportedly better

I have a black CT4-V on a lease and really wanted to buy it once lease end, I'm in total love. But I wonder how much difference there is between it and the blackwing besides the price tag. Thinking if I want to try and get one in 2 years or so. Definitely need to get a test drive

I feel like im not the target audience for this car, turned 28 two weeks ago. But I was able to get an allocation and ordered one of these in white with the manual transmission, trading my GMC sierra. I can't wait last fast car i had was a 19' mustang GT and I miss driving stick lol

Nice review as usual, Joe!! However, in this price segment, the Audi RS5 Sportback blows it away. Quattro, more room , and a more refined look. The spoiler on the Caddy looks like it came from the auto accessory aisle at Walmart.
RS5 is auto only and the engine being where it is makes for a plow heavy driver. The BlackWings are far and away much more of a driver's car.
Man both are special cars and each have pros and cons just like anything else. I’d personally take both though.

I’d definitely would get this instead of the M3. But if Cadillac wanted to do more. It would have to lower that price to 50,000 to 60,000 at most. That would definitely make it more appealing to the public.
Starts at 60k with manual comes with everything except for the heated cooled seats and aero and shit

I can't speak for the CT4 Blackwing but the ATS-V was absolutely the better, faster car. The communication through the front of that car was every bit as as good as the old E36, the car that gave the M car it's reputation. Going from that car to the F80 the ride was just a little less nice and the steering a little more vague, and nothing put the power down better in it's class. I regret every day that I traded that car in for the C8, but I feel the market will correct soon and I should be able to pick one up again for the upper 30s, low 40s, in manual of course.
Thanks for sharing. If I understand your post correctly you felt the ATS V has better steering vs the F80 M3 and C8? How long did you own it and why did you sell it. Was it reliable? I've been eying the CT4V and C8. I want the more connected feeling car with more feedback, not a numb fast machine.
@@sunnyvalentino The F80 had some issues with turbo wastegate chatter, which also happened on some 2016 ATS-Vs, Surprise they both used MHI turbochargers. It's a known problem, GM covers under warranty extension but I don't know any 2017s or later that had the issue. I had that car for 4 years, around 60k with mixed track and daily use. I never had a problem with it except for the shift isolation grommet just under the shifter. Makes shifting feel rubbery and you get a little thumping noise. That was it, easily taken care of under warranty and it's not unheard of with the Camaro and ATS-V but not all that common either. Otherwise reliable, I did two trips across the country in that car with ease even when driving through Death Valley with an ambient temperature over 100F. This thing was fantastic, just remember the factory tires on those were the old Pilot Super Sports and any time you drove in the rain, you might as well been driving in the ice. There was more than once I got caught in heavy rain where my butthole could have crushed coal into diamonds because of how scary that was under I switched up to Bridgestones.
I only traded it in for the C8. Now comparing the too the C8 is the better handling car, has great sound, rides really well and surprisingly gets about the same mileage on 93. They are two different cars though. The ATS-V definitely had a more predictable way about it, and the feedback from the front was better. It was also a very neutrally balanced car, you could get it to oversteer if you wanted to but it didn't really like it. The thing just wanted to grip and rip through the corners.
The C8 feels a little lighter up front, which should be obvious. It can have a nasty mid corner understeer if you aren't on track alignment and you come in too hot though I believe a simple switchup to a stiffer sway bar in the rear will correct this. It's not quite a predictable and the brakes and steering not a communicative but it's nothing you cannot drive though or that cannot be corrected through aftermarket parts. It's a very good car well deserving of the hype. It also hooks up and launches like no other RWD car, and definitely managed to anger the Tesla P90 D and Model 3 guys when they can no longer take for granted they'll get the jump off the line. I don't regret getting it, I only regret getting rid of the ATS-V because in a perfect world I should have both.

I'm definitely looking for predictability as well as connectivity (and I want a reliable car) so I will test drive the CT4V. The added bonus is I have a 4 year old so the 4V will fit the lifestyle better. I'm going to test drive a Corolla GR4 as well (I'm on the wait list), a GR86 and finally the GR Supra Manual when they come out (obviously the Supra needs to impress the heck out of me to make me go w a two seater, but that B58 engine is bulletproof beast).
@@sunnyvalentino You have some great choices there, it's going to be hard to decide, but you'll have fun on those test rides. Protip if you are in the V you will definitely want to play around with the performance settings. Tour mode rides almost like a an Accord but once you start getting to the other modes things can change up quite a bit. In the CT4 Blackwing its basically the same system they use for the C8,
