I switched from pad to stick mostly for fun, but also partially because how frustrating I found that "lean" accidental input issue. If I had stuck with pad I would definitely have gotten this.
to all pad players, if you have problems with the dpad being so inaccurate then you can quite easily fix this problem by having the dpad be individual buttons instead of just one piece of plastic. i bought some dpad buttons for like $15 (i did hear about just cutting the dpad into 4 pieces but idk about this), because its ACTUALLY 4 different buttons and not a single piece, its always fully accurate, holding back will only ever give you back no matter how much you lean your thumb towards down or up cuz its separate. there's a little bit of a learning curve but its definitely worth trying.
I've done this with a Battle Beaver Customs dpad button kit for my DS4 and an eXtremeRate "clicky" tactile pad for my DS5. While they feel great, they didn't work out well at least for me. My problem was that individual buttons were too exact, I'd miss my 1's and 3's when that wasn't an issue in the past. I did have an Astro controller with a tactile d pad that worked great, but sold it to a friend who plays more competitively than I do. So to anybody looking for a solution remember that this works as intended, but takes time to readjust. Wasn't for me though.

My biggest question on this pad is still about wear that pads go through. We've got specification that PDP has a 2 year warranty on this thing, but does that include when the pad inevitably wears down? Will PDP replace your d-pad of choice when it starts getting mushy? If they will, this is a great product for pad players which should wind up saving money as you only need to buy one every 2 years and some change, but if not, then $180 is a tough sell for a pad just because of how pads get worn out with fighting games.
