Hello coach Julia! I wanted to say that I'm really grateful for your videos! Yesterday I landed my first ever Rittberger and your videos were really helpful with that! I'm very happy and proud of myself and I'm really excited to move to harder jumps and combinations. Thank you for what you do! greetings from Poland!
Thank you for making this. I enjoy watching figure skating but could never tell the difference between a lutz, flip, or salchow jump. This video had every detail and demonstrated and explained this jump very well. I feel I will now be able to recognize a lutz jump.
I'm just leveling up from waltz to Salchaw .. walking through its steps anyway xD but I love watching your tutorials! They excite me to push forward to reach their level
Love these videos! Just got back into skating after 20 years off ice and they have been super helpful augmentation to my private lessons. I was wondering if the axel and maybe progressions to double jumps are coming soon?? I’m not quite there yet but I think those would be great additions to the line up! Maybe a sit spin or camel spin video too??
I want to add that even though I have a coach, watching your videos has helped me tremendously!! You explain everything so well, every step and build-up exercises for the harder skills! Thank you so much for providing these videos for free, you're an angel!! ♥️
I did a really clean flip the other day during practice, and I guess someone told my coach about it. Today, coach said we’re going into lutzes. She explains, and I crash. Getting up, I say to myself “gotta go watch coach julia.” And one more thing…finally the time has come for me to wear my “Oh Flutz” shirt to the rink!
3 months later...I finally landed a "passable" lutz during class today! After class, I did another 20 or so attempts and landed 3 of them...Already better success rate than flips :) I guess I'm more of a lutzer than I am a flipper.
It is called the Lutz Corner because that is where most skaters do their Lutz, to give them the largest area to set up the jump in. It is usually two opposite corners, as the jumpers move around the rink in a clockwise direction.
Rewatching. I noticed when I was taught this, they told me to get my power from the back pick. Wow that was not correct. It makes way more sense to get some power from the front leg. I mean, you can get some from both legs. It just irritates me I have been taking 3 eight week sessions at the 5 and 6 free skate level, and they haven't really had good instructors. I am done with group classes. I took 6, and they didn't even teach the skills we were supposed to be tested on. They just combined 5 and 6, so since there was just me in 6, they didn't bother with me. I should have got my money back. They also had issues with separation of the adults and kids. Like all the other levels had progressively fewer people (like 2-4 in a group class). Then you get to 5 and 6 it was like 15, half of which are children under age 10. Anyway. One more class for me is called axel up. And if they have the doubles class I'll take it too.

Maybe a sit spin or camel spin video too??
Definitely some great suggestions! Thanks for the input!
Do you have a tutorial for layback spin? You are awesome.
Not yet! I expect to make one soon!
You are so amazing!!!!! I am able to figure skate next year!! I hope I can learn fast and get a lot of skills with you!!!
Awe, thank you! Perhaps in the summer you can get a pair of 'pic frame' skates so you can skate off-ice.
Thank you so much for all your videos!! ❤️

So Smooth and Graceful! Poetry in motion!
Thanks for the video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
CAN you do a tutorial for the axel please ?
Thank you very much. This video has a lot of details we need to pay attention. Super helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
I love youre videos tanks
Awe, thank you! I am so glad to hear that.
Thanks Coach Julia, why is it called the lutz corner and where is that?
It is called the Lutz Corner because that is where most skaters do their Lutz, to give them the largest area to set up the jump in. It is usually two opposite corners, as the jumpers move around the rink in a clockwise direction.
Thank you! I am going to remember this. I keep getting stuck on my lutz.
I hope this helps!
@@CoachJulia it did! My timing was a bit off but finally in my lesson the other day I finally landed it. Thank you!!
Teacher Julia, The 1axel gonna be next right :)
I have that on my list for soon!
Are you tapping with your pinky toe too? Or is the foot down to the ice straight, though the legs are crossed?
definitely aim more towards the pinky toe as you tap.
I'm so terrified of this jump and have been putting it off for as long as I can xD
hi coach julia can you teach how to do axel?
I am hoping to get a tutorial on Axels up soon!
Is your description the flip?
Thanks for catching that!
My body always jerks when your doing the jump and I'm watching😂😂. I think it thinks I'm actually doing it lol
Hah! I do that sometimes while coaching. It is like I am trying to help my student perform the move by doing it myself. 😆
Oooh! Pretty soon...! I'm 60% excited, 25% nervous and 15% scared.
Красавица Юлия очень помогли мне своими видео, был бы в Америке, приехал бы с букетом цветов, спасибо большое, привет из России, из Металлостроя.
Im an artistic rollerskater! This help!
I am glad to hear that!
@@CoachJulia even tho its side by side, i still learn from you😍
I landed my first one last week :)
That's awesome!

For some reason, I find Lutz easier than Flip😄🤷🏻♂️
you're a menace 😂
Lutz is easy than toeloop? Than ritberger??
it's harder
It is definitely harder. It is the hardest jump before the Axel.
I’m so confused between lutz and flip🙈your explanation did make sense but I don’t feel a difference
why do i find axel to be easier than lutz😅 lutz is so hard for me with that outside edge
Im a lefty
Need flutz jumper who didn't got e call to watch this video
Watching even though I'm only on flip jump.
The lutz isn't to far away for you!
@@CoachJuliai feel like i could do an axel before doing a Lutz because axel is way more familiar start. Lutz looks so awkward.
