I will be unboxing and assembling my new Royal Gourmet model CD1824AC 24 Inch Charcoal Grill BBQ. I don't know what happened to Sep 17 but it is all assembled and working.

I just finished putting it together. You are awesome! No problems whatsoever. Except, of course, step 12. Brutal. I laid it down on its side to make it easier.

would you be able to dissemble this grill not entirely but just to fit it in the back of a car or trunk ? or is it not possible

I think so. Just take the side tables and legs off. It might fit in a car then. You might have to take the top lid off.

How close to the grate does the charcoal get?

When it's all the way up the bottom of the charcoal tray is 4in below the grill grate.
