    there's actually no fan next to his drum kit... his feet are moving so fast it's creating a breeze.

    It seems he already knows perfectly how to make such fucking cool tones of drums as brutal / technical death metal without powerful strength and painful effort. This means that he will be able to continue to play the brutal music after he gets over 50 or 60 years old.
    Oh how sweet it is, he'll never become a jazz or soft rock musican! :P

    The key is being able to relax while playing, you won't achieve these speeds if you are super tense and trying to force it.

    Does he have some weird trigger on the bass drum? Some times it looks like he's going one speed but it sounds like he's going twice as fast. OR is that some crazy technique where's he's hitting the bass drum twice when it looks like once (and I'm not being a smart ass)? Someone please clue me in.

    @ShiPshapeD00d when you're provoking people, make it a little less obvious ;) no one will ever take you seriously if you'll call drummer as creative, fast and tight as John a joke, especially if you throw in Luke Hollan (who's cool, but average) for comparison. i mean, come on ;)

  • @BenBezzle
    @BenBezzle 13 лет назад

    @velas1985 well he's touring, so might not be using his own kit, and when you're only going to be using triggers, it doesn't matter too much. If you can play well enough with a double pedal (over two singles) and the sound is going to be identical, why not?

  • @Livingcorpse8
    @Livingcorpse8 12 лет назад

    @MrDevilsheep666 He doesn't do Heel- Toe...he just plays doubles, (RR LL RR) but straight up heel. Look closely, you can even see his heels up...

    @ThexteraDrummer Nope, just regular Axis longboards. I can only think of one drummer that actually uses a quad pedal. In terms of John's actual technique it's singles up to 220 and then past that he switches to heel toe double strokes.

  • @TheDrumminMan08
    @TheDrumminMan08 13 лет назад

    @ShiPshapeD00d 1) there is much more to just playing fast here, notice his amazing heel toe, how his cymbal hand is more or less entirely independent from the rest of the blast (and thus used for dynamic effect). Granted, this is not John's best playing, I'd encourage you to look up the video of him rehearsing with Gorguts.
