@sickdrummerdotcom I noticed Paul Ryan's picking technique a while back watching a live video of The Aftermath. I was so intrigued by it that I tried mimicking it, but I found it far more difficult than even I had initially assumed. Playing with that form, at that speed, is incredible....
im so fukking glad u uploaded this. i was at this show and just got to re-live it. fukking awesome. vocalist made it sick. such a good show. rip skinless
@ChordxClient yes that was back in 2005 and the album is great, but now John is back and they had recorded Antithesis and Entity which are EPIC... there are many many good drummers out there but John is unique, this is all i want to say :) sorry for my english
I had doubts after I heard James Lee left, in fact, I thought Entity sounded kind of...hollow, for lack of a better word, because when I saw them live touring for Antithesis they were a force of nature onstage and I think James was a big part of that soul, it seemed to me like his absence carried into the studio. But from this video it seems like everyone else has stepped up accordingly - the band sounds killer, including the new vocalist. Awesome stuff.
saw these guys last night right in front, it was fucking insane. how are they just so fast like that lol its beyond me, John's hand looked like a motion blur
@velas1985 John left Origin some time ago, and James King joined and recorded Echoes of Decimation with them. He can play the songs, but their writing style is drastically different.
@sickdrummerdotcom maybe you know better but i think noone can replace this guy! btw keep uploading such good videos..i've spend days watching your chanel..cheers
@velas1985 No that was George Fluke, but King was the first drummer to raise the bar, and I agree on John being the best match for the Origin, his technique is damn near flawless.
Pause the video in the sub 20 second mark, take note of how his wrist is bent relative to the rest of his forearm. He makes damn near a 90 degree angle with his wrist relative to the rest of his picking arm - (!) with no anchoring (!) - at absurd speed. Don't feel bad, I am a guitarist and I don't get it either :P
@velas1985 Sure, G. Kollias, D. Roddy, Fotis from Septicflesh, the guy from Fleshgod Apocalypse, Inferno from Behemoth, Frost from Satyricon, and lots of other great drummers. Go listen to the new song by Fleshgod Apocalypse, it takes speed to another level...
@sickdrummerdotcom I asked him about that a while ago and he said it was to get more leverage, I cant use it at all and I tried, I EVEN USED HIS PICK lol
He skipped the gravity blast at 1:44. There are like 5 or 6 videos of Longstreth playing this song and every single video is different lol. Thats how you know a song is hard af.
@amusingisthedawn yeah, with this style of drumming if you play 'visually' intense, you wont last very long and you lose technique and it all goes to shit :) It's really hard for me to stay composed cause I get all pumped and I'm sure it's the same for all drummers of this nature. Have to stay calm or els you wont sound as clean and or keep the timing right for fills and so forth.
99 percent of the world population probably can't even comprehend what is going on in this video.
ahahah I would say it's lower than that.
They are making definiton of seven deadly sins via art
I love John's technique, he looks so fucking relaxed and he still plays with good power

This band is just HUGE!!!!! And John is the heel-toe technique god.
im so fukking glad u uploaded this. i was at this show and just got to re-live it. fukking awesome. vocalist made it sick. such a good show. rip skinless
@TheDepthsoftheAbyss The comment below nailed it... we wanted to show you Paul's "wrist-friendly" picking technique.
Wtf with Paul? He's a fucking machine...
WOW! Im one of pauls students. I was right infront of him at that show!
so amazing live
John Longstreth is so f'kin awesome! So skilled...one of my fav. drummers!
Origin rules.
John rules.
Great post,good quality!!
my face just got blown away. excellent video!
Excellent titre 👌 et l'album "Entity" est très bon 🤘🤘.

260 bpm all day long in this song? lmao this guy is a master in the blast beat and double bass technique!
I'm here for longstreth but Paul Ryan I just can't take my eyes off his playing.what a band.
New album June 3
I can't take my eyes of the bassist
This was the most brutal death metal set I have ever seen hands down
ORIGIN!!!!!!
Origin and Nile are best bands on the planet right now.
Wonder how the drummer feel after a gig like this..
@sickdrummerdotcom Also, only we have now the full song, not half. cheers for that!
He is a machine.
JASON FUCKING KEYSER!!!!
OMG that splitscreen is awesome!

@Bostonbird733 Awesome :)
James is sick too, damn.....(Echoes of Decimation) super blasts

Holy crap....this is brutal
@sickdrummerdotcom maybe you know better but i think noone can replace this guy!
btw keep uploading such good videos..i've spend days watching your chanel..cheers
So fucking clean!
@velas1985 No that was George Fluke, but King was the first drummer to raise the bar, and I agree on John being the best match for the Origin, his technique is damn near flawless.
@allmetaliswelcome Yes
@HeavyMetalen666 you're right dude!this video should be uploaded on the "sickGUITARISTdotcom" channel too :P
this is sick but you already have one of this song.
@thehellblast i agree my friend! that is the point of my comment..although, all the guys of this band are great
@velas1985 I take it you didn't know that John was not the original drummer, and that King was in Origin?
Unbelievable hat the human body is capable of.
Hermoso!!! *.*!!!
@certifiedpet well put. me too.
i juz banged my head on the floor.....

@rekleoa as for Flo, i really respect this guy..he probably has the fastest hands in DM but i don't know if he can play all that drum bass
×100000 SPEEDLIGHT 🤘🤘🤘
i was there, it was fuckin amazing.
That's a fucking badass!!! I want vomit in the monitor!!! Like That Very Much!
saligia is the pure might coming out of the human
Even their flubs are tighter than 95% of Death Metal bands on the market!
beast longstreth
@velas1985 Mike Heller (John's teacher, and one of the best metal drummers on earth)
sometimes i wonder: if John ever leave origin (hope not..) is there anyone else who can play their songs??
@velas1985 James King...
@velas1985 I think Flo Mounier would do some pretty decent job. Cryptopsy and Origin also know each other very well.
@velas1985 Dennis Rondum & David Haley just to name 2 of many great drummers.
He skipped the gravity blast at 1:44. There are like 5 or 6 videos of Longstreth playing this song and every single video is different lol. Thats how you know a song is hard af.
maybe he likes to do it different like that? i do that, i mean im nowhere near this level but with my band i almost never do the same fills haha
@HeavyMetalen666 Pretty sure of that aswell.
@velas1985
let me explain You something -John Longstreth= Origin
@HeavyMetalen666 And Dave Suzuki.
@amusingisthedawn yeah, with this style of drumming if you play 'visually' intense, you wont last very long and you lose technique and it all goes to shit :) It's really hard for me to stay composed cause I get all pumped and I'm sure it's the same for all drummers of this nature. I don't now the drummer of Origin play double bass with heel toe technique ...
I will sleep less stupid tonight xD
john's hair is moving because of the sheer speed of his hands
John's just gonna evaporate some day from going so fast.
0:53 That man just got expulsed by fury
@sickdrummerdotcom James King is great, but for Entity? Entity is extremely well written, im not sure he could even do it.
@velas1985 dunno either
This guy's ad-libbing like Devin Townsend!
Ron Casey.
Jesus Christ thats insane
What City?
is paul ryan the guitarist? i guess so?
@1:48 - 1:49 ........!!!!!!
I don't really get what he's doing, I'm not a guitarist so that's why.
@BurnThePope0514 you mean the first drummer is the original?that's ok, but i still believe John's better :)
@sickdrummerdotcom haha yeah not as tight though.... king appears to get tired even with unmerciful songs
Mauro Mercurio
@jr0014 Are you sure? To me, my favourite extremely creative drummer is Jamie from Ulcerate. Way more creative than Longstreth. watch?v=Vuk1v2m8BrI
George Kollias..But John is THE GOD.....
Snare is drowned out in the mix.
