I’ve had Mercedes S-Class before and liked them. Great car!!! HOWEVER, I just took delivery of a BMW 760i and I don’t believe that the two cars are very equivalent. I’ve had many BMWs as well and really favor them over the Mercedes simply because the BMW is a DRIVERS car. It is more sporty and handles better than the Mercedes. The 760 has the S68 M based engine with plenty of HP and loads of torque and a 0-60 time of 4 seconds. BMWs have always heen more focused on handling and performance than Mercedes and it really shows in this car while still having the characteristics of a very high end luxury sedan. And it’s a bargain compared to the Mercedes.
This is a hard one 😅. But ima have to go for the 7 series as a whole. One it has a very stately look even more than the s class and u can see the sheer size of the 7 series. Height too. Its almost like the rolls royce phantom of bmws. Its very distinctive as well and u get a sense of presence when u just look at it. AND yes both are pretty similar in features though that 31 inch movie theatre screen in the back, now thats really cool. Mercedes says the best or nothing but BMW is right BMW’s heels with this one.
Phantom? LOL. I don't think you've seen a Phantom, or even the 7-series in person for that matter, to make that comparison. The new 7-series "base" now sits in between the previous base and L versions since they won't be offering the L anymore in most parts of the world, but the S-class still has an L version in markets that surpasses the new 7. Every other comparison are near identical to the S-class. They have the same exact wheelbase, and the S-class is actually wider(though not by much) in body measurement(not counting the mirrors). The 7-series is a little over an inch taller(depending on trims), but it actually sits higher off the ground too so I don't know if that really counts. The proportions look weird/off to me in person. Kind of the way new cars have their shocks lifted or stuffed when they are coming off a transporter. A Phantom would make the 2023 7-series and S-class look like Toyota Corollas if they were parked next to it. The Phantom is 3 feet longer than the new 7-series, and the wheelbase difference alone on the Phantom is 22", and almost half a foot taller.
You mean a Ghost at best. The Phantom is much, much larger. The 7 is just ugly up front. Presence and distinctive? No, it's just ugly. The BMW 7 was a good looking car every generation except this one and the E65 (Bangle) version.
@@iggibars now that i think about it more, u are right. Ive seen the phantom and ghost in person. I dont believe the 7 series though interestingly enough. I just remembered how large the phantom was just by looking at it. It is in fact 2 inches longer than a suburban which is saying something because that vehicle is pretty huge. Its more than likely in pictures that the 7 series looks really big and the s class seems smaller because of the silhouette.
@@MercOne it has presence but not in a bad way and distinctive in a bad way. I used those 2 words because i dont find it to look that bad in this color with the black accents and the wheels. Thats it. The front end im still not fond of. But the color made it look slightly better imo.
@@josephpayton2055 Agree to disagree on this one. It’s hideous. To me presence and distinction should be good things. Not an excuse or pass for something ugly.
Great video. I own a 2017 Mercedes S550 and it is everything luxury should be. Opening the door to a BMW 7 series still has that wow factor. The only real difference is reliability and that is where BMW falls short. It is stunning but they still use to many plastic parts in the engine. Luxury is in both vehicles so really can't go wrong with either if your ok with maintenance cost for either vehicle.
Well new BMW trumped new Mercedes in reliability, as BMW already had too many complaints in the past of “cheap” materials, now it seems that glass interior trim is a necessity in future BMWs to give a luxury look and feel, w222 was the last best looking S class and the w223 probably the worst looking S class, old Benz>old BMW in reliability, new BMW>new Benz in reliability. Well BMW has one reliable engine called B58 hot engine amongst any street tuners, mostly wanting to challenge the well beloved Toyota 2JZ in-line 6
I had my i7 last week. Pros: 1-Perfect suspension 2-Perfect acceleration 3-Super smooth 4-Luxury seating Cons: -No sunroof -Cannot turnoff regeneration completely. -Too long to find parking place -Outer design is not as good as an S class

I think BMW sent a Mercedes a message with the 7 series. We can beat you at the luxury interior design if we want to, we just prefer to prioritize performance over fancy screens and bogus ambient lighting
Great video mate. They are both Kings in their own ways and no matter which one you choose you will not be wrong nor will you regret it. My personal choice BMW always.
I would go for the S class simply because I think it looks better and a more classy interior. I would get it with the V8 engine though because it gives you a lot more power for not that much more money
Looks is subjective, but comfort for me I have to give the G70 this time, as those air springs are straight from a Rolls Royce Ghost/Phantom, Rolls Royce>Bentley>Maybach alone
You can tell with BMW you feel the gear change and with S class its just smooth.. And i believe for such a big limo, You need smoothness and elegance.. For me, Mercedes takes it!
The 7 series has better interior material and build quality. But the Mercedes infotainment is far better and easier to use. BMW's new iDrive is a mess.
Well i was waiting for the comparison and luckily there was video of yours which helped me a lot to choose which one will be better for me... Thanks a lot ❤️❤️❤️
Well every BMW fanboy liking Benzes because they only go for the looks and not the engine, erm an AMG is another sign of marketing from the Mercedes team as the new C63s has 4 cylinders instead of a V8 which is a Tesla fanboy favourite over a petrolhead choice, and as my experience owning a w221 and w222 S class,I just have to say the w223 just failed to impress me because it’s just way too sporty to be an s class unlike it’s predecessors which I have owned before,so a G70 takes the bait for me
7 series this time is the winner, the w223 feels like a goddamn boat in comparison, and G70 is a big winner in the luxury throne, coming from an S class w221 and w222 owner
BMW needs the white steering wheel, on the BMW its not a glass shifter, those are all Swarovski crystals even throughout the ambient lighting. the "head pillows are not doing anything from what I see, minus a half point from MB. also, test the quietness of the interior on the same exact road, it makes a difference.... both are great cars
Subtle also doesn’t equate to nice while it could mean it doesn’t have the luxury looks of its predecessors which a luxury car should have, just my opinion
despite the tech stuff and such of the 7 series, I would always go for the S class 7 days of the week, 30 days of the month and 12 months of the year 100%, Mercedes Benz is just pure class and prestige, the best or nothing 💪🏻👍🏻
Well Mercedes nowadays isn’t reliable as most classic Benz owners think, it’s BMW now having a better reliability score overall and also better sales than Mercedes as well

I owned a 2008 S class and crossed shopped both before buying an x drive i60. The BMW feels more comfortable in the front and rear seats and a little more wow factor.
In 2022 it had 5,974 but I’m not sure what it’s sales were outside of the united states but maybe there will be sizable increase for this year but with the bmw 7 series sales dropping by almost 1700 sales in 2022 in comparison to prior year and from what I’ve heard various dealerships having trouble selling the new bmw 7 series I think the s class will likely outsell it this year and that the bmw 7 series may sell less cars this year then they did last year. In the United States 14,284 s classes were sold in 2021 and 15,056 were sold in 2022. The s class is more likely then not to outsell the 7 series this year, Although I could see Mercedes sales decreasing for the s class since some buyers who want an s class might wait to buy one in 2024 since the s class mid generation refresh will likely start it’s first production year in 2025 since if Mercedes releases the next s class generation like they usually do every 7 years it’ll be released in 2028
The Mercedes has digital. Ligjt though. Does the bmw? Digital light is more impressive than having crystals. Also the Mercedes has 10 degrees of rear steering.
Actually the mercedes has 4.5 degrees if you want the 10 degrees of steering you have to pay a 2000 dollar a year subscription on top of the rear wheel steering package
I've owned 2 BMW 7 series, an MB 300E, 500E, a Lexus LX and currently drive a Lexus GS. My MB V8 accelerated like no one's business and was silky smooth. Lexus dependability and ride quality are fantastic The handling with GS the is sub par, but has a great interior like MB & BMW. Now, truth be told, nothing excited me more than the BMW's. True driver's car that gave me all the confidence needed in any situation (particularly cornering). IMO..BMW is the choice.
The 7 Series has excellent weight distribution and the carbon core which sheds some weight and stiffens things up. This all contributes to outstanding ride and handling characteristics. The Mercedes always ride nice but the BMWs are silky smooth and they handle as well.
The MB still remains the class benchmark in terms of prestige and status. BUT the styling of the generation just doesn't do it and even seems to take a step back from the W222 model. There is just no advancement to be seen. That said, it will age far more gracefully than the BMW. True, the BMW stands out and had to find a way to crank up the volume over the MB. But the square, upright styling coupled with a highly controversial front styling is just too much. I do believe it shows best in dark colors with darkened trim. Where the BMW seems to have overtaken MB is interior and electronic wiz-bang. The fact that the BMW(and Genesis) offer power opening/closing doors yet the Benz doesn't is a complete head scratcher. The MB costs $130K and is still missing rear climate (offered for even more $$). And finally, BMW has at long last created a new interior theme that is ultra-modern and removes the cut and paste styling that it had for years. If I were shopping this class, I'd actually go for the Genesis. That car leaves virtually anything to the 6cyl Germans, with the possible exception of rear legroom. As a 2017 S63 owner, I am quite disappointed with MBs direction on the 2023 W223, and the BMW is just team-too-much for my tastes(but I'm glad they are thinking outside of the box, especially in interior opulence and experience).
The BMW stands out because it's hideous. Power doors are a gimmick and don't show any engineering prowess. Maybachs have had them for years. BMW had to move their game along as they've been in MB's shadow forever. The W222 was perfection and Mercedes already owned the segment. The G90 slower than both German 6-cylinders, guzzles more fuel, and doesn't have the ride/handling balance of the Benz either.
I completely agree. Polarizing designs tend to turn stale as years progress. Thats why some brands arent going all out and just keeping a sleek and modern design. Yes the Mercedes looks boring now but in a few years, its gonna be a hot one. You said u own a S63. Even for its age, it still looks new, because they didn’t do to much, or to little. Just perfect enough to be more “humble”. Yes and i also agree. The 7 series looks so much better in dark colors with dark trim. They did absolutely to much that it really limits u to which colors and packages look good from an exterior stand point because its ugly which ever way u put it. its to much going on with the front. Its like all new bmws. They are doing to much. It needs to be toned down just a little bit.
For me tho, I find the Merc's exterior design much richer than the BMW, why? Because the slickness and elegant look make it more luxurious looking than the BMW. BMW's tech has surpassed the Merc, especially that cinematic rear. But if I was to choose one, I'll go with the Merc(Maybach).
It seems both of you are bmw fans... And also - how could ever think to compare 6 cilinders limousine with all extras to 8 cilinders limousine with all extras...
My money would go to the 7-series as this generation gives the customer every possible drivetrain option even full BEV. As it was designed this way from the ground-up there are very few compromises from an EV perspective. Most people spending 100K+ for a car don't obsess over range, EV purism, or whether the car has a frunk. For many purchasing a 100K+ car, I suspect they are not driving on road-trips frequently as that is what planes and privates jets do best. The Mercedes EQS has has a mixed reception as it looks kinda meh, the rear space is not super accommodating, and there are quirks in operation (braking) many reviewers have called out as strange. Mercedes are surrendered function over bling as they feel they need to cater to a new generation of customers. Go BMW!

And it’s a bargain compared to the Mercedes.
I own M760Li too and I love it so much - easily the best car I’ve ever owned, and I had many S class’s and even AMGs.
I've had 7 series for a few years now. With this years S-Class, I'm seriously thinking of looking into it being my next car.
I hope not
S class plastic feeling everywhere
@@mikeho9453I agree with you as a w221 and w222 S class owner, the G70 is my new favourite
Bmw ruined the exterior design. Otherwise if it wasn’t for that then the 7 would’ve been better. They should’ve made it look back like the E38 pne
Now when you say quietest vehicle and smoothest riding is that being said with not including the rolls Royce and Bentley and maybach vehicles in mind?
Great video. I own a 2017 Mercedes S550 and it is everything luxury should be. Opening the door to a BMW 7 series still has that wow factor. The only real difference is reliability and that is where BMW falls short. It is stunning but they still use to many plastic parts in the engine. Luxury is in both vehicles so really can't go wrong with either if your ok with maintenance cost for either vehicle.
Agree with the plastic parts in the Bimmer
Well new BMW trumped new Mercedes in reliability, as BMW already had too many complaints in the past of “cheap” materials, now it seems that glass interior trim is a necessity in future BMWs to give a luxury look and feel, w222 was the last best looking S class and the w223 probably the worst looking S class, old Benz>old BMW in reliability, new BMW>new Benz in reliability. Well BMW has one reliable engine called B58 hot engine amongst any street tuners, mostly wanting to challenge the well beloved Toyota 2JZ in-line 6
@@seansiew5629 totally agree. 223 is trash. Yes BMW has got rid of the hot V engine design. Bout time. Great day to you.
@erniestarkey8856 what do you mean by hot V engine design? Isn't the S63 V8 still have their turbos mounted on top?
Even though I own a BMW, my final car before retirement will be a S-class. The best money can buy. No other car like it.
I had my i7 last week.
Pros:
1-Perfect suspension
2-Perfect acceleration
3-Super smooth
4-Luxury seating
Cons:
-No sunroof
-Cannot turnoff regeneration completely.
-Too long to find parking place
-Outer design is not as good as an S class
The S class look more elegant outside and inside
I disagree for interior, plastics on the lower dashboard area and center console
I own the S580. Couldn't be happier. Different type of class, and I fell in love with the interior.
I love both vehicles! I’ll be buying them both! Different colors of course! Why not?
loyal customers of each brand will defy such comparisons !
I bought a BMW 750- in 2016. It's never been in the garage for anything - other than routine maintenance. In all those years I've only put 32k mines on it. God I love than car. I also have a 2019 E class cabriolet that has also never been in the garage - again for routine stuff. I just turned over 4k miles. Perhaps it's be cause I'm 82 and retired. :)

enjoy it man!
I think BMW sent a Mercedes a message with the 7 series. We can beat you at the luxury interior design if we want to, we just prefer to prioritize performance over fancy screens and bogus ambient lighting
What a fantastic video! Excellent job presenting these two cars!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
S Class. Note, The BMW Rear video package does NOT come with a Video Camera Rear view mirror like Cadillac's. 🤔 IT just blocks the view..
Great video mate.
They are both Kings in their own ways and no matter which one you choose you will not be wrong nor will you regret it.
My personal choice BMW always.
I’d go for a 7 series , thanks
BMW is the winner with massive margine!
Amazing comparison!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The only Big Benz with a three star on the bonnet
The BMW look like Soviet Union Volga. Cmon man, to beat the S-class on points? Nobody in their right mind will choose new 7 over S.
today the most coveted german export is a LEOPARD TANK 🐆
S Class 👑
bmw hands down
7 series is the king 💙❤
The 7 series has better interior material and build quality. But the Mercedes infotainment is far better and easier to use. BMW's new iDrive is a mess.
The 7 series is a good car, but I'll go for the S class.
50.7 decibels at 55 miles per hour is very very good. Just for comparison, a Bentley Bentayga at 95 miles per hour is around 53 decibels.
The 7Series styling is atrocious.
Well i was waiting for the comparison and luckily there was video of yours which helped me a lot to choose which one will be better for me...
Thanks a lot ❤️❤️❤️
Glad we could help!
"Traditional feel" equals boring and safe. BMW all day.
Iam Mercedes fan boy But when it comes to tech and design 7 series is more futuristic
This channel is much better better than throttle house, those other guys play to much. We're not watching for jokes, but vehicles.
i own a 21 S580 and waiting on the BMW i7 as I type. I love them both, They are great cars.
You put a 760 up against a 580 come on man put a S63amg then we can talk . Put that entry model 7 and the Benz entry level will smoke bmw
He put a 760 against a s500 not the 580. He put a 8 cylinder up against a 6 cylinder. He so sack for that...
@@Sutphinboy119 plain ole disrespect
The S class is beautfiul not a huge fan of the bmws exterior though
Well the w221 and w222 s class at this point is still the best looking s class, the w223 is nowhere looking better than the older 2 gens of s class
That hidden storage is pointless
I love both of them! I don’t know, which one I would pick! Both are luxury
Go with s class
Go with 7
As a former BMW fan-boy, their styling left me some time ago. Count me, Team Mercedes.
Well every BMW fanboy liking Benzes because they only go for the looks and not the engine, erm an AMG is another sign of marketing from the Mercedes team as the new C63s has 4 cylinders instead of a V8 which is a Tesla fanboy favourite over a petrolhead choice, and as my experience owning a w221 and w222 S class,I just have to say the w223 just failed to impress me because it’s just way too sporty to be an s class unlike it’s predecessors which I have owned before,so a G70 takes the bait for me
How much better is the ride comfort of the sclass as against the 7series?
7 series this time is the winner, the w223 feels like a goddamn boat in comparison, and G70 is a big winner in the luxury throne, coming from an S class w221 and w222 owner
design mercedes is dream 😍😍 but design bmw is tragedy🤢😵
I'd go for the BMW
Bmw x7 hybrid 👍7
BMW needs the white steering wheel, on the BMW its not a glass shifter, those are all Swarovski crystals even throughout the ambient lighting. the "head pillows are not doing anything from what I see, minus a half point from MB. also, test the quietness of the interior on the same exact road, it makes a difference.... both are great cars
BMW for Mercedes I'm going for Mercedes
I LOVE how subtle and unpretentious the S Class looks.👍🏼
Subtle also doesn’t equate to nice while it could mean it doesn’t have the luxury looks of its predecessors which a luxury car should have, just my opinion
i own s580
i will buy i7
s580 is good car and very comfortable
Excellent review thanks
Thanks for watching!
despite the tech stuff and such of the 7 series, I would always go for the S class 7 days of the week, 30 days of the month and 12 months of the year 100%, Mercedes Benz is just pure class and prestige, the best or nothing 💪🏻👍🏻
Well Mercedes nowadays isn’t reliable as most classic Benz owners think, it’s BMW now having a better reliability score overall and also better sales than Mercedes as well

There’s no way you saw this incredibly ugly BMW and thought “yeah BMW sims this generation.” You need new eyes

Both are Fabulous!!!!!
The best or nothing. Still Mercedes-Benz
Its tough to choose but i see the Bmw moving towards the new era . In this day of age the bmw is moving in the right direction because in a few years the Koreans will be moving ahead.
The BMW looks like the older s-class on the interior it's doing things that the owner S-Class did in the 2014 year
I owned a 2008 S class and crossed shopped both before buying an x drive i60. The BMW feels more comfortable in the front and rear seats and a little more wow factor.
I have seen both , I think 7 is the winner
We need to see sales figures, 7 will have more orders
In 2022 it had 5,974 but I’m not sure what it’s sales were outside of the united states but maybe there will be sizable increase for this year but with the bmw 7 series sales dropping by almost 1700 sales in 2022 in comparison to prior year and from what I’ve heard various dealerships having trouble selling the new bmw 7 series I think the s class will likely outsell it this year and that the bmw 7 series may sell less cars this year then they did last year.
In the United States 14,284 s classes were sold in 2021 and 15,056 were sold in 2022. The s class is more likely then not to outsell the 7 series this year, Although I could see Mercedes sales decreasing for the s class since some buyers who want an s class might wait to buy one in 2024 since the s class mid generation refresh will likely start it’s first production year in 2025 since if Mercedes releases the next s class generation like they usually do every 7 years it’ll be released in 2028
Beides sehr gute Autos aber Benz ist der König!
after test drive 7, I went got the S580. mb is much better! BTW i had 3 750s in ten yrs.
Sclass🔥🤤
Mercedes Benz anytime pure luxury❤
BMW looks like a box with wheels.
Faaaar, from ultimate.....Genesis etc, are the ULTIMATE !!
Did he say no open sun roof on the 7?
S class only , because
Best or nothing
Which one is more comfortable? And which quality is better

Go BMW!
This video is about the s-class and 7 series, why is eqs here?
@@bernard5260 Because the new 7-series offers a full EV drivetrain and is excellent. The S-Class does not.
