Neil Kumar These directors (and actors, actresses) do not come together because of him. They come to sit together for an hour, because it's The Hollwood Reporter, promotion for the movie, Oscar campaign time. It has nothing to do with the actual reporter guy. Dr. Dhoom It's different, cause they are not coming for the guy. They are coming for the huge Hollywood newspaper. So it could be anyone sitting there asking the questions. The reporter is not the brand, THR itself is the brand.

Denzel says so much whether he answers or not. The last question he declined and it was as interesting as answering it. The man is pure class. He puts life into it’s proper perspective. Being in his position is a gift that he recognizes. His talent and hard work got him there but still recognizes that he is still very fortunate . If an actor can be a role model it is him!

In that it was made with a fairly low budget. The camera work on that was made the film even more legendary . Then when he did Gallipoli he really did an outstanding acting job. He possibly got the feel for making incredible stories with lower ranking stars and beautiful camera work

I loved the movie "The Doors".... its arguably Val Kilmer's best performance... and now to Snowden..... consistency is a virtue that isn't common in most professions, esp in showbiz. Me too. At 1:00:33 He and Damien Chazelle were in the middle of an intersting conversation about seeing eachother's movies and I wish that Damien got to finish his thought and for Barry Jenkins to be able to respond but stupid Galloway had to cut him off and ask about Damien's worst job. This whole roundtable was fantastic but that was the one moment where I really wanted to just punch that man in the face.

The balance of different experience at the table was perfect. Each person gave important and thoughtful life experience that a young and upcoming director/actor/film maker would appreciate. The importance of other jobs that they had to do BEFORE they got where they are. That failures will happen but to keep moving forward.

The last 7 minutes or so of this interview are painful to watch. An interesting conversation between Damien and Barry was about to evolve about both their movies and also there was a moment where Oliver Stone was genuinely amazed that Damien's first real script was Whiplash. Both of these conversations were cut short to ask these questions respectively; "What was your best and worst job?" and "What did you get into trouble for as a kid?"

I noticed the moderator's proclivity for interrupting was doing a disservice to the program. An opportunity to hear amazing filmmakers speak with and to each other would be so much better served with another "host." When Favreau hosted a similar roundtable, being a director and writer, he not only asked good questions, he let the guests kind of lead the discussion organically.

When Mel Gibson was explaining about being in the thick of it, in the middle of the ocean and just start swimming 'there', and doubting you're going to be able to do what's required on set, period...I was thinking about parenting. How nobody feels they're qualified going in...but you do your best and the best gets done. (As far as the whole conundrum re: his 'outbursts' in the past: I've struggled with it. I'll never 'like' or 'respect' the person who said what was said, but somehow I have been able to get past it and return to cheering on someone who at the end of the day, I believe, has a good heart.)

Great video, excelent interviewers. The questions and answers were perfectly done by everyone present. I loved to listen to what all of them had to say about each one own professions. I liked immensely listening to Mel, I always do. The same to Denzel's inteligent answers given. I adored Mel's Passion of Christ, unfortunatelly this was the only of his movies I have seen because none other was exibited in any of my Countries' cinemas. I'm waiting anxiously to see Sound of Freadom eirher on TV or in one RUclips channel. I'm afraid I haven't see none of Denzel's movies, but I'm hopefully waiting to see at least one either on TV or in RUclips. Thank you so much for the wonderful video.
