About the AFI Life Achievement Award
The highest honor given for a career in film, the AFI Life Achievement Award was established by the AFI Board of Trustees in 1973. Denzel Washington will receive the 47th AFI Life Achievement Award, celebrating his life and work. The special will air on TNT on Thursday, June 20, at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, followed by an encore at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT. Sister network Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will also air the special in September, during a night of programming dedicated to Washington's work.

It's possible that is what's meant, but how many people would read that and think of it aplying to women/everyone? A lot would not. The patriarchy is embedded in liguistic habits. AFL Life Achievement Award.... seems like something you would get AFTER you quit acting. Denzel is a fantastic actor. He makes you hate him, he makes you love him, he pulls emotions out of you as you sit in your chair about whatever roll he's playing. The first roll I remember seeing him in was Glory, and no one can forget the flogging scene. There have been countless rolls since, and I look forward to the rolls yet to come. Yet his life as an actor is not yet complete.

Just came across this after the Will Smith and Chris Rock incident. Morgan freeman and Denzel have true class, what gentlemen. Why can't the younger generation appreciate what they have and respect each other,
Morgan Freeman is the only person on earth that could quote the technical operation manual on how to properly unpackaged, lay out the parts and tools needed for assembly and the operator and user manual for a push lawn mower and capture an entire audience from start to completion with everyone on the edge of their seats and get a standing ovation.
