Caroline Cox nah I think you could delve into how much control they have on the story. Times they added something wouldn't have been there without them. Every director will have a different way of working with their editor, so yer a little bit of name dropping. Get one of Finchers editors on there and they will talk about a buzzard method only he and Allan Bell use. I honestly think it would be fascinating.

@Caroline Cox - speaking as an editor, this is wrong + doesn't help perception of editors in film. They have the power to alter an entire story, emotion or feeling with one simple cut. I can assure you that your favourite film - whatever it is - was all pulled together perfectly thanks to the editing.

This made me respect producers a whole lot more. I don't think people realize how important they really are for delivering an enjoyable end product. Just look at all the goodness these guys kind of are/were responsible for. The little background stories are gold for film geeks.

Darren Aronofsky is awesome guy, he is a great director but is also a really good person offscreen. I remember when Cyclone Sandy hit the long island , he was there directing his film Noah and his set was completely destroyed. Anyone else would be worrying about his film and his problems but instead, this guy fills his car with pizzas and drives around to feed people who lost their homes and were in a complete shock. Little things like that says a lot about a person.

I dont think it's correct to say most people would be more worried about their film than all the human suffering in the area they were filming it that suddenly came about from a disaster like Sandy. Its essentially praising someone for being normal and human. This is the problem I have with the way we talk about these things in the 21st century. We have made normal human actions like helping someone and turned them into a heroic thing when they should just be the norm and in fact usually are (despite what the media portrays)

I'm currently working as an assistant editor for a filmmaker and we've been working on a few videos for the past couple days. Today we finished them and he was really pleased with the final edit and he was very grateful. That feeling that Hughes Winborne said he felt after showing Denzel the edited version of Fences and Denzel got emotional-- that's a great feeling knowing you helped bring the Director's vision to life.

black swan was a very tough role, i respect darren as a visionary director but he does push his talent (actors/actresses) and sometimes actors or actresses get big. when they do, it can be hard for them to go back to a passion project where the director can be more ruthless in their approach to their vision when theyve been accustomed to another environment.....i cant say i relate directly, but indirectly through my work on film crews.

As a filmmaker you have many hats, but one dream. You are a
lone wolf, a person that does something out of the norm. A person that looks at
the world differently. His action speaks louder than words and people are
magnetize by his actions. It causes curiosity as well as resentment for
breaking the norm but at the end that is what filmmaking is all about.

    - The elder Vito Corleone performance by Brando.
    - The opening scene with that angle from behind Brando to the phrase, "I'm gonna make him an offer."
    - The Dead Horse
    - The assassination attempt on Vito.
    - The killing of the cop
    - The Mafia Summit.
    - The Death of Vito
    - The Killing of the heads of the Five Families
    - The closing of the door on Kay.

I hope THR reads the comments, many people, unlike most RUclips comments, have some great input.
One thing that stands out to me is the interviewers taking on what Isabelle Huppert and Amy Adams had brought up that they should ask the more powerful players about the issues of colourist, racism, sexism, ageism, ableism, gender and wage issues to these tables. Often asking the person who is subject to being cast makes no sense. There is an audient for everything and it's the producers, executives that make that change.
I know I'll be labelled a SJW, don't care, I know the messed up views behind that, I just appreciate the comments this time around and thought others may be interested.

At 26:29 that is not a photo of producer "Allyn Stewart" -- it's a picture of presenter Deborah Norville. I never forget a face. THR please edit this/reupload and give Ms. Stewart CR. Thank you and thanks for this piece. Enjoyed it. Cheers

It wouldn't that is most likely impossible since producing is incredibly difficult work.
