Excellent comparison, you usually find people doing a "review" of a switch by itself (in stock and l+f variations) - which is of limited value if you cant directly compare it to a large range of similar switches. For people building their first (or second, in my case) custom keyboard, and not having a large breadth of switch variety on hand, this is exactly the kind of analysis I'd be looking for to decide which switch to use.
Came across this review a couple of months after post. Gotta say I love the review and the way you respect the time (and probably attention span) of your viewers by cutting to the chase then doing all the detailed sound comparisons thereafter. Bravo!
This video was super helpful! I've been wanting to build a cheap keyboard for a few months and I've spent a while looking for the right switch. This helped me figure out the right one for me, thank you!
I love how well organized this video was. I can tell that you really planned out which clips you were going to use, and that really showed. You earned my subscription!
Good luck for the rest of your career, this video is so good and useful. You helped me get the right gateron yellow, and conveniently the gateron yellow of my choice, in terms of feel, sound, and performance :D
Only issue with the clear top G Pro Yellows are the seemingly weak top housing, they have tendencies to bend out of shape especially around the LED cutout when taking it out.
The CAP v2 design is for tighter tolerances (just think about the design mechanically and it makes tons of sense). Allows for less stem wobble. CAP v1 wasn't up to par like the v2. Personally think CAP v2 milky yellows are better than the KS-3 Pro milky yellows that people loved.
which key type is best for someone who accidentally fat fingers a lot, hitting extra keys n shit. Im on Oetemu reds right now on my k668 and its so annoying, i need something different...is Yellow my best bet?
Eh. It’s okay, but not different enough to warrant getting the cap switched over the Gateron Pro series. G pro yellows are just so good, I just got some g pro silvers in for my Ducky One 3 as well!
Has your opinion changed on the G-pros? What switch are you enjoying right now, rather it be a gateron or something else. I’m still so torn on whether to get the Milky v2 or g-pro. I am not patient enough to lube switches but I have modded my brass plate Keydous NJ80 to the max.
also to note lubing with 205g makes the gpro yellow sounds scratchy and hollow/empty (im guessing something to do with my lube job) but sounds much much deeper thock after using 105g
You're punching well above your weight when it comes to quality. I assumed you were one of the bigger keyboard channels that I just hadn't heard of yet, turns out you have
I have a few Akko jelly blacks (unlubed) or should I get some milky yellows with lube? Also if I were to get the milky yellows could you tell me how they are stock and if I need to use 105 lube
The Milky Yellow Pro stock is very good in my opinion, smooth and not a single spring ping spotted but I'm still recommend lube and film them for a more deep sound. I've tested them on KBD67 Lite with PC plate and silicone PCB foam and boiii~, them switches are deep and kinda muted now. They can't even clack lol.
This video is correct. I got gateron pro milky yellow and its lube is not that good. When bottoming, there’s a significant noise and it does bother when typing. I’ll buy clear top next time.
One thing I was hoping you’d touch on more about the KS3’s, they’re available in 3 other different color combos I’ve found: black top black housing (my favorite looking), milky top black bottom (through Novelkeys) and full milky housing. In your experience how different do these three sound to you?
Haven’t tried all three, won’t be trying all three. G Pro’s imo are the best Stock, KS3’s are nice if you lube them but G Pro’s have tighter tolerances anyways so I wouldn’t bother because you could just lube over them and it would be a better switch. The differences between them are so minute and the Nylon housing is higher pitched than the Clear tops or milky housing in an entire board
Love this! Extremely helpful! I know you felt no need to add lube to the G Pro factory lubed, but in the test where you did that, did you remove the factory lube or just add the new lube on top? Also confirming the new lube was Krytox g205g0? Thank you!
Nice video man. Gat yellows are arguably best budget linear on the market. I use the gat yellows pro prelubed on KBD67 Lite and it is decent for the price 0.24 USD.
Just ordered some Gat Cap yellows, I had several other creators refer to them as "budget black inks." Going to put them into my Tiger 80 lite when that arrives.
That keeb sounds soooo creamy omg 😮 I’m trying to make my build a bit more creamy/ thocky. I have the Gat yellows in it right now. Looking to do some more mods like sound dampening. I have PBT taller key caps on it for that deeper sound. Anybody have any more recommendations for a deeper tone?
ks3 is perfectly good switch having breaking in and lubed. The Ks3 milky top however is just a league above. However what I'm interested about gat cap switch is it's spring and how the typing feels, is it more bouncy due to hella long spring and air resistance
Amazing video man! Ob and also I am planning to buy a 75% keyboard which I need 80 switches for. On amazon it only gives the option to buy 35 per packet, and although there isn't a BIG issue with have 105 switches, I kinda have 25 switches lying around and i think it's a bit of a waste. Do you think there is any possible was to bypass this problem?!
Zaku and this one is was supposed to be my go-to switches since I am just starting out nut one is expensive while the other is I just don't really know what to choose xD *Bought epsilon ironically much more expensive than zaku lol
Copped some G pro yellows! Will be my first linear switches coming from Gateron G Pro browns on my Keychron Q1. Really enjoy the G pro browns and was gonna splurge on Black inks for first linear, but then would have to pay three times as much and lube them.
This was a Gat Yellow comparison👁👁 We’ll save Durocks for another day lol. I’m wondering how long I can go without another JWK hitting the channel other than Epsilons
I recently built a new keyboard with the RK84 as base with a set of brand new factory lubed Gateron Pro 2.0 Yellow. The RK84 comes with tri-mode (bluetooth, Wifi, and Wired). For some reason, the switches feel very stiff and mushy but only in bluetooth mode. When I switch over to Wifi and Wired mode, the switches feel buttery smooth like they should. At first, I thought it must have been a defective PCB or bluetooth. But when I swapped the GP2.0 Yellow out completely with a set of unlubed red switches, it turns out this only happens with the GP2.0 Yellow, as if the factory lube in the switches is 'reacting' to the bluetooth signal and becomes thicker and stiffer somehow. I tried searching on the web but didn't find any similar case anywhere. So I'm wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing or is it just me?
update: after tried relubing a couple switches with krytox, it is confirmed that the issue is caused by the factory lube. Now I shall proceed to relube every switch to unlock its full potential!
@@TechKile They are on a different level. its worth the video lol. Edit: Plus they give an insight on what to expect from Zeals new switches that are on the way in march.

Good point, but honestly, probably not worth lubing haha
thank you so much for taking the time and effort to make this video! it was so helpful!! 👏🏻✨
I like this video. Short and sweet with the comparison at the end. Good job.
Every other review was missing one or the other model, but you got them all. And for that thank you sir!

Eh. It’s okay, but not different enough to warrant getting the cap switched over the Gateron Pro series. G pro yellows are just so good, I just got some g pro silvers in for my Ducky One 3 as well!
G pro yellow vs cj vs epsilon, which is best in terms of smoothness? Also how's the sound comparison?
Cj
Epsilon is best sound
Modded: CJ > Epsilon > G Pro yellow
Stock: Epsilon > CJ > G Pro Yellow
Price: G Pro Yellow > CJ & Epsilons tied.
@@TechKile could you tell me which is better stock? Akko rose red, Akko jelly black or gat milky yellow?
Thanks for the video man. I was gonna buy the KS3's and block the RGBs if not for your video.
Great vid btw
Now you have the yellow cap V2 not covered in this video wich has some minor improvements like a new stem and holes to let air flow

I get confused on the naming of Gateron switches -- are the Gateron G-Pro yellows the same as the Gateron KS-9 Pro yellows?
also to note lubing with 205g makes the gpro yellow sounds scratchy and hollow/empty (im guessing something to do with my lube job) but sounds much much deeper thock after using 105g
the Gat Milky Stock ones sound like there pre-lubed.
this is the best video i have seen yet! thank you so much and keep up the great work!

This was so useful, bought your recommendation. Thanks!
hearing those keyboard clicks is so satisfying and relaxing.
When lubing the G Pro, did you remove the factory lube, or did you just put 205 on it?
i agreee hands down gateron gpro yellow ftw sounded night and days different when i put it into my k6 poppy/thocky ish
Hey can any one please tell me is the all black milky thcockier than the normal one
Could I ask where you got your blue and white keycaps from? 5:34
I loved your video! It was super helpful
Cannon Keys! Called winter tundra
Do these switches have interference on Northfacing LEDs on Cherry MX keycaps?
Check Keeb Taro video, they comparing both pro switches. Gateron Pro Yellow 2.0 pass paper test on north facing + Cherry profile keycaps.
Bro can u help me...do you preferes Epsilon or Cow switches? Theres difference in terms of sound?
Cow switch review coming soon, but I prefer epsilons. Epsilons are snappier

Which keycaps did you use in the video @tech kile?
How would u compare the smoothness of the pro 2.0 vs cj?
What do you thing about g pro Milky top? I can't find clear top one
Would you recommend the yellow pros or milky yellow pros?
Depends on your preference. Go for Pro Milky if you want a deep sound :D.
This was great and I only wish there was a typing test for each one.
Can the gateron g pro yellows be used for gaming
yes
The G pro milky sounds great stock.
Would rather the Gateron pro yellow tho.
