I'm also an introvert but behind the pharmacy's counter I love talk to people, I'm always talking with the customers, my coworkers, I love share knowledge with my technicians. My delivery guy is also very friendly. Greatins from Brazil.
It's already challenging as it is being an introvert in a community setting but sometimes it's nice we get to help our patients/costumers. Somehow, it enhances our communication and social skills just talking to them.
Working in a pharmacy in South Korea looks great. Here in the US working in a pharmacy (especially the major ones; like CVS and Walgreens) sucks. I'm sure there are problems in South Korea, but for the most part it looks like you're a medical professional, and you're actually helping people get better when they're sick. Pharmacy is a real cool profession, I just wish it was in a better condition. Great videos, Davin!
First of all, thanks Cristian! And yes for sure there are problems in Korea too haha i’m just selectively showing the good part😂 but i’d love to know your thoughts on why you think working in cvs or walgreens sucks?
@@davin__ Hello Davin! Working in the those chain pharmacies can take a toll on you. First they're all about metrics. You have a quota on flu shots, and encourage refills. They'll have you stand there asking people for the flu shot. Here people are not really into getting it. Those that are will come by and ask for it. If you don't meet a certain amount of flu shots the pharmacist will have to talk to the district manager or their boss for the reason why goals haven't been meet. The only thing that matters are the numbers, not what is best for the patients. Lack of staff, and no support. Sometimes there is only one pharmacist and one pharmacy technician taking care of the work. Sometimes it gets so busy that there is no time for a break. In some pharmacies you have drive thrus, the worst thing that could have happend to pharmacy. It's bad enough you have to take care of the people in the pharmacy you now have to take care of the people in the drive thru, and the people (or doctors) calling the pharmacy. And when problems pile up it gets stressful. Patients. I don't know about South Korea but people here can be very nasty. Sometimes people are angry about the cost of their prescriptions. Some medicines are very expensive. Others are just nasty just for no reason. I understand that some people are sick or worried but being nasty is not going to make them feel better, I wish they understood that. Not to mention the drug addict that can be difficult to deal with. I don't know if South Korea went through the opioid epidemic or something similar. This made working in pharmacy a hassle and at times dangerous. A lot of times people are angry for something and it's not even the pharmacy's fault. We get to be the patient's punching bag, and it gets old fast. Proper staffing and better traning can help with this, but that sometimes is not an option. Pharmacy is a cool profession but I feel like, at least here in the US, the whole system sets people up to fail. I wanted to be a pharmacist, but became a pharmacy technician first. I'm glad I did beacuse I got to experience what working in pharmacy was really like before committing to studying pharmacy. There are some nice pharmacies to work in, I don't want it to sound like all pharmacy is like what I wrote. Anyway, hope this message is helpful. All the best, Davin.🙂
Being a Pharmacy Student Your videos have been always made me feel inspired and passionated to be the Pharmacist like you in future. During the hard times of my course specially the time when I just so stressed and demotivated and wanted to stop for a while that time your words works like motivation to keep going through each semesters. I've been watching your videos so far and waiting for the next one to be uploaded as soon as possible. Take Care Of Yourself! (❁´◡`❁)
It's interesting to see your workplace and how you treat customers. I'm still an undergraduate and soon graduating, and I see everyone seeming to know what they're going to choose to study and the career they want except me. I'm an introvert so I always escape from workplaces that require good communication and leadership like medicine and pharmacy, although I'm really interested in these fields. If you read my comment, I'd be really grateful if you share with me your experience! ^^
I remember watching a segment in a tv show and they said that putting a sandwich on a totebag is equivalent to putting it on a toilet seat because they are equally dirty (we put our totebags everywhere and we never clean them). The also took swabs of metro/tram bar handles and they found feces on them, since then I don't hold on handles in public transports.😅
I hope to work in a pharmacy in two years because I start to study in the next two weeks!! It's seems monotonous but I think every job is, at least, always the same so... I also find it cool.
I had a similar experience at a stationary store. I would buy a lot from them online and the pick things up in store and one day the owner said that she hadn't recognised me and I stopped going there for months 😅
i always dreamed of being a Pharmacist Tech, i just hope one day i will get to work as one since i always dreamed of being one since i was a kid! i love how calm and relaxing your video is!! ❤😅
The one thing I noticed about pharmacheists in Asia's side and western's side is that we don't talk openly with customers and we always try to avoid talk with the customers. I'm a pharmachists and I always avoid to talk with with customers but on the other hand, your customer service is awesome. I mean, A customer can easily ask any kind of question with you. And you try to talk with customers.
I’ve never worked in a pharmacy at another country, but I’m pretty sure it’s not that big of a difference here either haha Frankly, I also don’t have much time to talk to customers/patients at pharmacies that are super busy :)
i also want to be like u in the future, u really inspired me and i want to become pharmacist in Korea but idk how to? as an Indian girl idk how to make my dream true as a pharmacist in Korea....plzz help me unnie
Your English intonation is so perfect , too bad no chances to visit your pharmacy during my attachment program in Korea health care system few month back 😊. How I wish my program can extend ….. n can communicate with well English spoken pharmacist in Korea Keep it up on your post , interesting and make us interest to work in Korea pharmacy 🎉
Here in ph we have pharmacy assistant I’m just double checking the prescription against the item to avoid wrong dispensing and I do cashiering sometimes and answering phone call/order. It’s a 24/7 retail pharmacy and I’m 8 yrs this coming July . Sometimes I think of resigning but there’s bills waving at me 😅
i don't know how and why youtube algorithm brought this video of yours to me all of sudden, especially after 2 years since it was posted. but it's lovely to meet you, so hello sweetheart:) i hope you have a nice day today 🌷 tbh, my grandma was also a pharmacist. she was born in 1945, and had worked the same job until retirement. the calmness in your voice reminds me of her. maybe that was the black trenchcoat that you put on after a day at work, or your hairstyle, but it felt like i could see a younger version image of my grandma in you. you must also be a kindhearted individual 🥺 thank you for reading my rant 😂😭 love you:)
what is life like as a hospital pharmacist in Korea? somewhat curious how different practice is over there if only because my friend stopped by a pharmacy in Korea and somehow got Keflex OTC 😅
How did u try to attend pharmacy? I am from Myanmar. I always dream of attending pharmacy in NUS. So I wanna ask u which qualifications should I prepare? Is there any pharmacy programs in polytechnic Please reply to me
Do you like being a pharmacist? U can't decide wether I wand to study medicine or pharmacy and I would really love to hear your opinion about this (ㆁωㆁ)
Hi Agne! First of all, there are pros and cons of being a pharmacist but i think the pros outweigh the cons (for now). I have a lot of respect for doctors but personally i’ve never thought of studying medicine since it requires such an extensive period of studying and training. If you’re into science and would like to make money, i would def recommend medicine. But in the end it really comes down to what you find more interesting! Hope this helps:)
Hey dear currently I am a fourth year pharm.d student in Pakistan and i just want be a registered pharmacist in South Korea .I know like you have to give test for you to be accepted as a pharmacist there.can you guide me more about this whole thing cause some websites say that it's very difficult for foreigners to pass the test cause they have different syllabus and the process is so confusing???
Hi Ramisha! I actually don’t know about this so i had to look it up. First, you need to take 2 tests. One is the pre test for the pharmacist test and if you pass that one, the next one is the actual pharmacist test. Also, you need to take a Korean test if you’re a foreigner. For the details of the test, check this official test website. www.kuksiwon.or.kr/subcnt/c_3120/1/view.do?seq=7
Wonder why instead of working aboard as a Pharmacist you chose to work in Korea? Myself, I am a board certified pharmacist in Australia, for many reasons now back in Taiwan, after 3 years I managed to open a small chain pharmacy here, but still miss those times working in Australia… You speak perfect English so I assume you received your education overseas?

Haha fellow introvert! It’s so cool to see commonalities from the other side of the world! 😊🥰
this vlog is so calming and relaxing, it really makes me think of my work as a pharmacist in a different way!!
Ahh i love when other pharmacists comment on my videos🥰 TY!
