This is by far one ☝️ of the best videos I’ve got 2006 Ram 2500 right turn signal rapid flashing and no power to rear bulb for turn or brake at back light or trailer connector only running light. Brake light only on left and 3rd brake light 🤷🏻♂️
Great explanation, I have the same issue with no power at the back pin and fues testing good, now I will look for my TIPM diagram. Keep up the good work.
Great quick video. Helped with connector locations. Question though, what would cause just the left brake light on the trailer to not work yet the turn signal still does? It is not the fcm or tipm as i have eliminated those as the failure point.
Thank you for watching/subscribing. If you have watched this video, not only does it give you the location of the connector but it also tells you how to diagnose the lights not working. If you know you have signal coming out of the tipm, then it goes through the connector and back to the trailer connector on the bumper. Check for brake light signal at the trailer connector on the truck and if all is well there then the problem is on the trailer. It could be wiring or the bulb it self. Just have to follow the signal from the tipm all the way back to the trailer and figure out where the signal loss is. thanks
I appreciate the video, It made troubleshooting my issues much easier. I actually had an issue at every location mentioned in the video. I didn't have power for the trailer lights at the TIPM, so I replaced it. After I restored power at the TIPM, I was losing power at the pigtail inside the fender well. I unplugged it and cleaned a substantial amount of dust from the connector. That restored power to the pigtail at the bumper, but I also had to clean out the last connector to restore power to the trailer.
Thank you for watching. All those issues are common with these trucks, usually not all at the same time but I'm glad you were able to figure out the problem and fix it.
I have no turn signals up front of my 06. Have them in the back though. No trailer lights either. I pulled the entire tipm out a few weeks ago and cleaned the connectors and contacts hoping it would fix the issue...it didnt. I'll try what you did to see if that helps. If I have front parking lights burned out would that make my blinkers not work up front ?
Hi, thanks for watching. Yes first thing I would do is check is the obvious, the bulbs. Front parking lights & turn signal do share the same double filament bulbs. Once that checks out then follow the circuit from the TIMPM.
Traced the problem on my 2014 1500 to the same outgoing green wire on connector under fender. Any tips on how to remove/reinstall that wire from the outgoing (female) side of connector so I can improve the connection? Is there a special tool to remove the female part from connector? Thanks for a great video.
Hi, thanks for watching/subscribing. Glad you were able to figure out the issue. You can certainly remove the wire/terminal from the connector using picks or there are terminal removal tools available. They are just pushed and pin locked into the connector and a pin release tools like one of these can be used to release the pins 👉 amzn.to/44EG4s0 Or you can cut the terminals and connect the wire directly, bypassing the connector.(single wire connector can also be used 👉 amzn.to/3LLPNnE). There is never any need to disconnect or remove that connector for any reason, use some dielectric grease and should keep it corrosion free. Thanks
Good job explaining! I don’t mind the music. I do have a question if I may? 2021 Ram 2500 HD. We changed all the wiring and lights on trailer. Noticed water inside both 7 and 4 pin connectors on truck. Changed a blown fuse on truck. Everything was working and now it seems the lights on trailer don’t work when truck lights are on auto. Is this normal?
Hi, thank you for the kind words and putting up with the music. I cant change it since it was part of the original video when first uploaded. Just to clarify, all trailer lights work fine when headlight switch is turned on manually? But when the headlight switch is "Auto" all truck light work but not the trailer lights? This may be normal, I have experienced this on some of the ford trucks. Just want to make sure you are not talking about the DRL(day time running lights) which is separate from running lights(parking lights) & your truck should have DRL light system. DRL's most of the time are only set to turn on front lights and no running lights. However, due to some Canadian regulation changes in 2020, trucks built for the Canada market have the parking lamps come on with the DRL, and for the US market the parking lamps are set to off from the factory. Some of these settings can be changed with a scanner. Couple things you can try. -Cover up the headlight sensor(should be on top/middle of the dash), when headlight switch is on "Auto". It should sense the darkness and turn on all the lights. Do trailer lights come on with all the truck lights? -If everything works fine with the switch turned "ON" manually that that tells us the circuit is good. This maybe normal where the trailer light circuit is not powered when headlight switch is in Auto mode but I can not be 100% sure. I'm hoping someone else will chime in and clear this up for us......... Thanks
@@JSFautoPlus thanks for the quick response! Yes sir they work when in normal mode but not auto mode. Made in Mexico for US market. One would think the Dodge owner’s manual would make mention of it. I will try your suggestions this weekend too much rain today and can let you know. Thanks again!
Hi, thanks for watching/subscribing. All data has all the wiring diagrams available. I believe it is owned by AutoZone You may be able to use it for free and have them print diagrams. Some are available online for free also if you search the right forms.
Goof TS video but didn't help me. my issue is the TIPM. I swapped out the TIPM and fixed the rt side trailer signal but the TIPM I swapped it with has a bad 4x4 indication
Thank you for watching/subscribing. In many cases it is the TIPM and a well known issue. They also tend to corrode at bottom from moisture causing connection problems.
Plug for the 7way behind the rear bumper? That is available from auto parts stores or online. Replacement plug in the front wheel well? That would have to be dealership or the junkyard.
Hi, thank you for watching/subscribing. TIPM, stands for Totally Integrated Power Module. The TIPM is a component found in many modern vehicles, including RAM trucks. It's a part of the vehicle's electrical system, responsible for controlling and distributing power to various systems such as fuel pump, ignition, lights (including trailer lights) and more. The TIPM essentially acts as a central hub for managing the vehicle's electrical functions. However, there have been TIPM-related issues in RAM trucks, where problems with the module can lead to electrical malfunctions. thanks

I've watched a couple of videos on this topic, this video is in my opinion the best, quickest and shows all steps to track down the problem. Thanks
I'm glad the video was helpful. Thank you for watching.

Great video, thanks for the easy walkthrough, I'm having issues with my truck. I'll try this option tomorrow
Thank you for watching/subscribing.
Hopefully you were able to figure out the issue on your truck.

Great video man. Helpful and straightforward to the point. Now gotta just convert this for a 1500 with a flat prong type.
Thank you for watching. Ram 1500 should be the same. "Flat prong type" 4 way is tied in to the same wires behind the 7 way connector.
Where do you get the wiring diagrams?

My plug in the back is corroded in the connections. Where can I get that part
Plug for the 7way behind the rear bumper? That is available from auto parts stores or online.
Replacement plug in the front wheel well? That would have to be dealership or the junkyard.
i have the same issue . but mine the left didn't work. thanks for the video.
This is a very common issue with the Ram trucks. Thank you for watching
Mine stays on with out flashing.
Hey, Which fuse is for the right/rear turn signal on the truck itself? 2016 Dodge Ram 1500
Hi, I don't think there is such a fuse. However F53(left) & F81(right) 20amp fuses are listed for turn signals but for trailer tow.
Thought I was going crazy. I replaced the bulb but when I hit a bump it’s on and off. Assume it’s a fuse but I can’t locate it.
Sounds like a loose connection somewhere. Recheck the bulb socket for loose wires, corrosion, etc.
Thank you, It was a loose connector.
What is a “Tip-‘em”?

Annoying music... skip music next time
Sure Thing. Thanks for watching
Good video, but why the music? I don't understand the stupid music.
