    A quick easy fix. I, too rely on RUclips for fixing things. Always very reliable especially with trailer lights.

      That's true. Watching RUclips has helped me fix many things - our washing machine, our dryer, our refrigerator water dispenser, front brakes on the truck, and more! Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Your video is high quality. Showing static pictures of what you are talking about is a pro move, all the way. The camera being in a static position is pro also. Thanks for posting. I will put this to good use.

    Thanks! I had a similar problem with my Jayco RV trailer 7-pin connector. My left turn/brake light wasn’t working. Checked the truck’s, trailer brake/turn fuse with multi-meter and it was fine. Luckily I found your video. It was going to cost around $100 if I had to have the light replaced. I scraped the connectors and voila, now it works! Lol
    BTW: I’ll be putting the grease on it when I get back home.

    Very informative video. Please keep in mind, does not conduct electricity. Even if it is used at points of electrical connections, it is incapable of conducting any electric current. Instead, it acts as an insulator and protects your connections from various agents like moisture, dirt, etc. Additionally, dielectric grease can also provide protection against corrosion. Keep the videos coming.

    H Chad, I was having issues with my trailer lights lately. Nothing was working! I changed all of my wiring and lights on my old utility trailer today and was quite sure that I would have the problem solved.
    I now have running lights, emergency signal lights, brake on both sides but no signal lights on either side of the trailer. Interesting also that my truck signals work if I am not connected to my trailer but as soon as I connect my signal stops working on the truck on both sides and of course no signals on either side of the trailer.
    I would appreciate any feedback. Frustrated and eager to get this back on the road. Thanks.
    Richard

      That's a tough one. Are you sure that the ground on the tow vehicle and the ground on the trailer are both good? I had a similar issue (but opposite) when I was towing my boat trailer. A bad ground on the truck wouldn't let my lights work UNLESS I was connected to a trailer. My second guess would be - are there a second set of fuses for the trailer lights? For example, my F-350 has a second set of towing fuses that are attached to the trailer light wiring. Turn signal fuses for the trailer are separate from the turn signal fuses for the truck.

    Where exactly did you put the dialectric grease? Is it on the male or female part of the plug or both?

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  Год назад +1

      I put it into the prong holes of the plug end on the trailer. But it wouldn't hurt to apply it to both.

  • @seacoast6351

    I have a similar but older trailer. It has the same left turn signal not working. I just followed the wires from my vehicle to the rear of the trailer. It all seems to be getting electric. When I connect the wire from the turn signal straight to the running lights the second filament lights so the bulb and bulb mount works but when all put together it doesn’t work. I can use a multimeter on the fixture and a ground and it will show pulsing voltage. I can swap any bulb with any other bulb ant they will work in any other fixtures just not that one when I have it set up directly to turn signal power. I’m not sure if this makes sense in words, it certainty doesn’t electrically.

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  Год назад

      That can be SO frustrating. It sounds like you've tried everything I would have tried. If you're definitely getting voltage at the bulb mount, and the bulb mount has a good ground, and you've tested the bulb, I have no idea why the simple act of inserting the bulb into the mount wouldn't work. The only other thing I can think is that maybe the bulb mount isn't lining up with the correct spot on the bulb for the connection for + or -. Maybe that bulb mount is slightly different than the others and the bulbs don't make the correct contact or it requires a different bulb number?

    • @seacoast6351
      @seacoast6351 Год назад

      @@PurpleCollarLife I had cleaned the bulb mount with a Dremel and wire brush and when i take the electric from the right turn signal and just press the wires onto the left turn signal fixture the bulb flashes so the bulb mount is good. or was good. I'm thinking it had a short that some reason the right was not affected by because now the left is not working all the way till my cars tail lights. It has some little black box that is all bulged that seems to be the problem. I think its a safety unit so that electric issues in the trailer don't effect your vehicle. it seems burnt out. I guess this became a much more expensive issue.

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  2 года назад

      My first thing to check would be the ground. Sometimes when there is a bad ground, strange things like that happen. Then I'd check the bulbs in those locations next. Are they in tight? Are the filaments still good? Are they LED bulbs? After that - I'd probably check the connection to make sure it's good.
