First a prediction- 100K subscribers within a year. Awesome content ! Thank you for sharing your Knowledge. I started using humic acid and sea kelp extract with a hose end sprayer this season. I'm retired so I have to try to do lawn care on a budget. Ryan Knorr used a micro spray from Simple Lawn Solutions that looked interesting. I like the tip about using micros when the lawn is stressed. I need to get soil tested. Fall is finally arriving here in the northeast , when would be the best time of year for the soil test ? Thanks again !
Love the prediction Rick!!! That's the goal! Assuming you get rid of the thatch in the soil before you send in the test you could test anytime. If you have sprayed any fertilizer during the dormant season there might be a slight change in the number but IMO not enough to worry about. Soil tests are great to see what reality is. I don't worry about the recommendations they give. In all reality I just want to see what substances are high and which are really low. Then I adjust my micros and macros to suit the new needs. It's good to have the knowledge. Be sure to pay for the CEC counts other wise they just do the NPK measurements.

I haven't tried it. It looks like a good product. My local region is moderate to high in its phosphorus count. The zinc levels were a bit lower than I wanted and the cost was out of the range of what I can spend per 1000ft2. Growth products puts out really good products.

Homework for Ginja😉: Great video Ginja in your estimation what would be the temp where applying product has come to a end? On the flip side what temp in spring can we start up again?
I will most likely do my final application sometime between the 2nd and third week of november when my ground temps hover around 40 degrees or less. I will start my first application next march. Kentucky bluegrass in my local region is a tough lady to deal with. It's all about the ground temps for me and I like to keep the grass awake for as long as I can because I enjoy it.
My lawn got the chinch bugs and I thought it was brown patch. They really hit me hard. Even though I put down bifenthrin because I’m in south Florida it turns out they were resistant. I think I finally killed them but the lawn looks bad. It hurts to look at it. My yard was one to envy. :(
Thank you for the videos. Love the kids sold separately humor. With so many different chemicals/liquids/ mixtures being used in one’s sprayer over the season, how does one keep from cross-contaminating other mixtures? Do some mixtures to be used only in a designated sprayer? A
I tripple rinse my backpack to prevent that from happening when I change mixtures. I find that a lot of these yard chemicals play nicely together. You know immediately when they don't because the mix turns into a globby mess.
ginga----can you add essentials plus 1-0-1 and liquid fungicide together?if not how long do i need to wait between spraying them?also i live in souyh carolina and have st augustine is it ok to use essentials plus1-0-1 now?
My soil test show im low in Fe,Zinc, copper and Boron, besides Essentials 101, what else will you advise..im also having issues with fungus on my newly sod st augustine, im in DFW, tx...i appreciate your knowlege & advise.bGreat work!
Hey Gina. In Utah too. What are your thoughts on adding micronutrients now (Oct)? I too just moved to a new house. Made some progress this year already, thanks to you vids. I am going aerate and add IFA step 4 this week. Anything else you suggest?
we are natively low in zinc and chelated iron FE. micronutrients are a must if you want everything to pop. I transition to doing a micronutrient dose and using a high potassium product for my final fertilizer.
I am 30 days post seeding and my concern is water. I have mowed a few times. I am using the next products. 21 day post germination I used 9-0-1 and RGS. I am starting my regular irrigation 1/2” twice a week. I watered on Monday and probed it on Tuesday. My ground is saturated probe went down to at least 4” easy. It’s getting cooler here and the nights are hi 30s or 40. I took that core and just rolled it up like gum. My grass came in beautiful but I’m afraid to over water. Can I just water once a week 1/4 inch instead of 1/2 inch. Water will be turned off middle of October. We don’t get much rain in October. Thanks from 97603!!
All fantastic questions. The issue is the soil shouldn't be too saturated nor too dry. when the soil dries out the active beneficial bacteria and fungal organisms stop which isn't a good thing. I find that having a 6" resevoir of water is best. weather you water once a week or daily is up to you. the best thing to do is contact your local extensions to the agriculture department and get there waterwise recommendations. these recommendations come in how many inches of water to put down per week during the growing season of grass. see myallgreen.com/watering for an example of what I give my customers local. there is a video exercise at the end of the page that will show you how to perform a water output cup test to determine your output per station throughout your lawn.
I finally over did it Ginja. I slightly burnt my lawn with a syn fert. I was trying to put a bit more iron down and it also had 12% N. My lawn isnt to happy about it. Its not total annihilation but still kinda bummed. Would a Medium watering help it? Fert burn :( I got a little crazy. I realize whats damaged is damaged but where do I go from here? its a light burn over some areas.
Not to worry Ginja is here! (shows chest emblem). go get some humic acid and calcium. Apply the humates weekly for the next two to three weeks. if you have access to a nitrate nitrogen or revive apply 1 application.
Come analyze my yard and tell me what you would do vs what I'm doing. Curious of your thoughts from a Fertilizing company vs a Maintenance company perspective. 👍🏻👍🏻
Hi. I purchased essentials 1-0-1 to apply on my lawn but I don’t see any clear instructions on how to use it. Could you please guide me in the right direction? Thank you!
do you use those products commercially or just on your lawn.was wondering if it's cost effective commercially.thankfully your head banging music was short as I was about to snap off my neck from head banging along.greetings from Cali and thank you
That is a great question. I use these products commercially as well. I use the essentials plus as more of a recovery agent as opposed to putting it in the tank. I don't generally granulate customers lawn as I mix it all in the tank. Its more efficient that way on a day to day.
As for being cost effective..... depends on your definition of cost effective. The NPK is commonly cheap, the micronutrients up the cost but are sooo worth it. You'll also need a spray device to put down liquids. You'll end up spending more money figuring out the Balance game but your lawn will thank you.
The essentials plus cost is about $4.50 per 1000ft2 depending on how cheap you can find it. It's a great product. It doesn't last long on the lawns. It'll give really good results for about 10 days to 14 days max. I use it as a pick me up in the lawn when the lawns are stressed.
to be upfront I've never used Milo. My area is high ph and in my opinion the available phosphorus in the milo can have adverse effects in my region so I don't use it. I'm not saying its a bad product. I've seen people have tremendous results with it.
Can someone top dress their lawn out of shallow root issues? Top dressing with 0.25-0.5 inch compost/soil amounts ,often enough over a few seasons or even 1 season to top dress your lawn out of trouble. This is not discussed often or in serious detail.
that's a great question. the major issue is removing the debris layer before top dressing. Once that happens then the compost will get to where it needs to go. top dressing with compost is the fastest way to boost a lawn out of a funk.
Thanks for another great video, think you change your name to "Pest and Lawn GURU". You've been very helpful with your educational vid's. Guess it helps that you have the same type of lawn and are at altitude as I am. Most other video's are about flatlanders, lol.
Hey what’s the pricing on the max pak by huma gro? I’m using the bio stimulant pack by Greene county fertilizer that the lawn care nut sells on his internet site and it’s about $100 for 0-0-2 fertilizer , humic12, air8 and rgs (root growth stimulant)
Ginja, have you thought of trying the Scotts Wizz battery operated hand held spreader? Your video reminded me that I need to put down some more humic acid. Curious. Why you cut your lawn down lower before winter hits?
Thanks for the comment Methodical2. I've seen the handheld in action but I've never physically handled it myself. I'm kind of a cheap skate hahaha. I'm happy to test out my friends and do a full report if you'd like. My local climate has been producing a lot of morning frost. I find the Kentucky bluegrass lasts longer in the fall time when the daytime temps and night time temps get lower. It helps prevent some late fall fungal issues when the water doesn't evaporate properly. I also like the look of shorter bluegrass when it will allow it. Lastly I like to do a short mow at the very tip end of the season but I don't like cutting 2" or more off the top. I feel like stepping the lawn down is best for overall health of the plant.
Got it on the BG. I'd plan to take my TTTF down to 3" (from 3.5") around mid November before it goes to sleep. No testing is necessary with the Wizz. I have one and was thinking you may like the battery powered handheld spreader to save you from having to manually crank the spreader. Thanks
Is it really good idea to promote a product which an individual DIYer cant easily buy such as Max Pak? Any other micro-nut you can recommend for all that stuff in Max Pak please?
@@pestandlawnginja Any thoughts on MEGAMEND Organic Micronutrients and Trace Minerals Fertilizer for Plants and Lawn available at Homedepot. Doesnt hv every micro you listed but its $25 for 4500sf

Hey David. Thanks for the comment. I love max pak. It's only available through commercial retailers of huma gro at the moment. I suggest contacting them to see who is in your local region.
Copper - Copper helps grass with metabolism and reproduction. But high amounts of copper can cause iron deficiencies. Iron deficiency results in lack of colour. Gotta remember not to throw down all that copper next year!
I wonder why the video’s don’t take in consideration larger yards. I have about 3/4 of a acre of front yard. I would go broke using the chemicals i see recommended. Am i missing something? All you yard guys live in town or have small yards.
Hey Gary. Great question. I'm part of a service company. The solution I talk about are used day in and day out for the service company. The 1000ft2 cost might surprise you. As a DIY it will save you $$ even on large lawns. You're upfront costs aren't cheap but the applications are by comparison. I would not recommend using the essentials on every app. I primarily use it as a recovery tool.
Gary Shumate I understand! Previous rural yard was 2+ acres, current suburban yard is 6,000 sqf. I did very little to rural yard except right around house. I’ve only seen one guy in area treating acreage, he had stacks of bags in his driveway.
Osprey Flyer I have turned to Southern States for help with my yard. I know the farmers around me don’t use Scotts, lol. We will see how it works out. I can deal with $15.00 a bag of fertilizer that covers 5000 sf. Bet it works fine!

I tripple rinse my backpack to prevent that from happening when I change mixtures. I find that a lot of these yard chemicals play nicely together. You know immediately when they don't because the mix turns into a globby mess.
ginga----can you add essentials plus 1-0-1 and liquid fungicide together?if not how long do i need to wait between spraying them?also i live in souyh carolina and have
st augustine is it ok to use essentials plus1-0-1 now?
I always recommend doing a compatibility test first to make sure. I've to this point haven't had any issues.
My soil test show im low in Fe,Zinc, copper and Boron, besides Essentials 101, what else will you advise..im also having issues with fungus on my newly sod st augustine, im in DFW, tx...i appreciate your knowlege & advise.bGreat work!
I've really been enjoying the rapture 4 0 4 by simplot
Hey Ginga,
Do you recommend Propeat fertilizer for over seeding established lawns ?
I do!!! works amazing due to the slow release
Another great video!
Thanks for watching Robert! Appreciate the support
@@pestandlawnginja thanks I'll give that a shot. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the response.
absolutely!
Love this channel, thank you.
You're welcome D Goode! I appreciate your continued support. You guys really make this channel.
Come analyze my yard and tell me what you would do vs what I'm doing. Curious of your thoughts from a Fertilizing company vs a Maintenance company perspective. 👍🏻👍🏻
happy to come collaborate. hit me up on my facebook page at facebook.com/pestandlawnginja
Hi. I purchased essentials 1-0-1 to apply on my lawn but I don’t see any clear instructions on how to use it. Could you please guide me in the right direction? Thank you!
mix 4oz of product to 1 gallon of water to be applied over 1000 sq ft
Hey- How many ounces per gallon of the essential??
4 to 6oz per 1000ft2. 4oz is usually my go to.
do you use those products commercially or just on your lawn.was wondering if it's cost effective commercially.thankfully your head banging music was short as I was about to snap off my neck from head banging along.greetings from Cali and thank you
That is a great question.
You'll end up spending more money figuring out the Balance game but your lawn will thank you.
thank you.should have clarified I was speaking about essentials plus
The essentials plus cost is about $4.50 per 1000ft2 depending on how cheap you can find it. It's a great product. It doesn't last long on the lawns. It'll give really good results for about 10 days to 14 days max. I use it as a pick me up in the lawn when the lawns are stressed.
your thoughts on milorganite??biggest issue I see with repeated use is it sky rockets the phosphorus.
to be upfront I've never used Milo. My area is high ph and in my opinion the available phosphorus in the milo can have adverse effects in my region so I don't use it. I'm not saying its a bad product. I've seen people have tremendous results with it.
What would you recommend for my grass here in Colorado
Huge fan of barenbrug turf blue pro hgt. You can find it on amazon
Most other video's are about flatlanders, lol.
thanks William! Glad I could help. Altitude does make a big difference in some situations like mulching and microbial action. Thanks for the comment.
"The overlap, son! Don't forget the overlap" :-D
mmmmm Overlap!
The greene county fertilizer will be a cheaper product IMO. The huma gro products are subject to vendor pricing and can be different region to region.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
I just saw your comment to Scott earlier to contact Huma Gro
No worries David!!! Thanks for reaching out.
Great info, Sir. Thanks.
Thanks for the comment BigFish1772!
Hi my friend where can we get the micronutrients max pac .?. Thank you. I want know where to perches it.
They are working on it. For now all inquires go to michael@humagroturf.com
Dogs like Dude You making terds too LOL
Good old Ned. He's funny
I know you said 2.5” cutting height for your kbg, would you cut tttf same height this time of year? -thanks
I'd drop it down to 2" if it were me
Thx for the info bro
You're welcome Sun420! Thanks for always watching and commenting.
Where do you get the huma grow max pack
They sell to authorized commercial dealers. You'd need to contact them and ask them where there commercial vendors are.
Hi Rajesh. Completely agree with your thoughts. I would suggest looking at the micros as greenecountyfert.com
@@pestandlawnginja Thanks for responding & for the tip. Looked them up - they sell in large quantities for multi-acre app.. LCN sells it for $150!
@@pestandlawnginja Any thoughts on MEGAMEND Organic Micronutrients and Trace Minerals Fertilizer for Plants and Lawn available at Homedepot. Doesnt hv every micro you listed but its $25 for 4500sf
$25 is good for 4500 sq ft. I would consider looking in to greenecountyfert.com and checkout the microgreen
Everything is listed except Huma Gro® MAX PAK. Where to buy?
I'm unsure. I stopped using it. The micro paks found in the rapture 4-0-4 are great and the micro pack by anderson is also a great product.
Good stuff as always man, look forward to your videos most recently. LMAO your dog, mine does the same, or he puts the tennis ball right in front of the next line. #wiseboi
Koven I'm pretty sure Ned has a gift for being able to get in peoples way hahaha. Ned's too lazy to play with toys you got a one up on that LOL.
Hey, how much water is needed for 4oz of essential plus per 1000 sqf?
1 gallon min
Thanks
where can I buy max pak +
Hey David. Thanks for the comment. I love max pak. It's only available through commercial retailers of huma gro at the moment. I suggest contacting them to see who is in your local region.
Where are you located?
Utah
Wish you could look at mine and help me 😞
is this for minecraftr?
LOL YES
Homework was the worst part of school.
Hahaha. Sorry dale!
Homework? If I wanted to do homework I wouldn’t be watching RUclips. LOL
😂😂😂 I figured i was going to get a lot of that
Homework? Who needs Homework - Allen Iverson... or maybe it was practice he was talking about?
who needs practice when you're allen iverson
The Ginja makes us work all the time; homework! calibrate spreaders!
Copper - Copper helps grass with metabolism and reproduction. But high amounts of copper can cause iron deficiencies. Iron deficiency results in lack of colour.
Gotta remember not to throw down all that copper next year!
Good information. Copper is also one of the leading ingredients that's used for anti-fungal properties.
High levels of cobalt create an an iron deficiency
Definitely needs to be Balance on all sides of the spectrum
