Yup..gotta accept. We are on our second one. A tip for those with aging jacks. If your jack is losing some of his/ her faculties.. sight, hearing, memory or other faculties. It is frustrating, but also for the dog. It is never their fault and you can find creative ways to help them as well as yourselves.
We have 4 dogs total. A Scottish terrier, a West highland white terrier, a Irish shorty jack and a miniature poodle. My little jack is the only one who sheds! We bath him twice a month with a high quality shampoo and conditioner. I use a wet brush on him in the tub. We also brush him daily with a stiff natural bristle brush. He loves to get brushed! Thanks for the video Josh and Luna ☺️
Haha, some friend told me i would have to mop twice a week. I mop twice a day xD Those lil white hairs stand out a lot on dark woodfloor. I recommend a sofa cover made of sheet or some fabric the hairs dont thread themselves into, and you can easily shake out the window, fold and put back and doesnt get many wrinkles, and is LIGHT COLOR so the white hairs dont stand out so your sofa looks cleaner ;)
Love 💕 your vids. We are so excited, we’ve adopted a 5 year old JR arriving at the end of this week. I have binge watched all your vids on JR’s and feel confident we have created a safe and fun environment for him. Thank you snd hugs to Luna!
Update on our new addition…Chuck is settling in fine. Thank you for your guidance it has been invaluable during this time. He is the most wonderful dog but needs a calm hand at times and his zoomies are hilarious!
Great video! I just found your channel and subscribed. Jack Russell's are worth it. They are so smart, loyal, loving and fun. I have a smooth coat Jack and I brush her two or three times a week and bath her one a month. You are so right about feeding them a good diet. It really makes a difference. Thank you so much for this video.
Great topic! Can you consider covering Jack Russell aggressive behavior. Especially when they become territorial over an item or object. We are experiencing this behavior over to sock or any object she become possessive over. she becomes very aggressive unwilling to negotiate. We started seeing this behavior @ 4 month and it’s only getting worst. We’re attending therapy but this behavior only comes out when she got something she don’t want us to have.
The Equigroomer is a great tool for my Dutch Boerenfox terrier. Removes all the dead hairs from his undercoat. Originally designed for brushing horses but the small version of this brush is used for cats and dogs etc.
I enjoy all your videos. The love Luna has for you is clear & impressive. I have benefitted from a lot of the advice/experience you have shared in your videos. My experience regarding shedding: I add a half teaspoon of unsweetened yogurt to his food and the shedding has dramatically reduced. And yes, the brushing helps too. Please keep the videos coming.
My Parson Russell Terrier has a ruff coat. I just brush her every day. No big deal, just do it at the same time I brush her teeth. Haven't got much hair shedding yet, but she is only 4.5 months old. Figured I needed to start early for her to get use to it. I use a wire brush that has little plastic bogs on the end of the wires. I tried several brushes but the one I absolutely like the best is the " CHI Slicker with Detangling Pin Dog Brush" from Chewy.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for the recommendation of the Kong brush! My JR, Duncan, would NOT allow me to brush him. The Kong brush arrived while we were outside and he sat on my lap and tolerated me brushing him. ❤️. As far as vacuum, I have a Roomba I robot and can't recommend it enough!
I beg to Differ, I have a real Exceptional Jack Chi, not into mixes, but the Lord put us together. Disabled Casper is a hard working Jack Russell and Chiwawa, 30 commands,so many routine discipline, she was shown once She repeats, with a verbal reward.key! So Turning 7 she looks more Russell. Hair everywhere, never before. 2024 she exploded, well we will get through this with LOVE
Dottie’s hair is allllllllll overrrrrr everything!! She has that wiry JRT hair and it’s long. We’re going crazy but this is good advice. We have to do better with brushing her often and vacuuming more.
LOL... look at all the dog hair collecting on your sleeves as you talk. You can also see the hair floating away as you pet Luna. Its almost a losing battle, right?
I'm an antihistamine user personally. I'm mildly allergic to some dogs but it's kinda nasty with cats. Meanwhile I've been befriending my niece's cat, who lives next door. He hopped in through an open window the other day. Had I been looking after the JRT that might have been an awkward conversation later. For years I've been using a cordless stick vacuum which was so easy to use I actually used it. Once I started looking after a JRT I dug the Dyson out. Night and Day. I'm told that the BEST vacuum you can get is a Miele that uses bags (there's science behind why bags are better) but my nephew (with an Alsatian and a Malamute cross) swears by his bagless Shark vacuum. Either way, corded vacuums are an order of magnitude better than cordless vacuum cleaners as far as how much they pick up. I'm starting to build myself a new house and I was just about certain I was going to go carpet-less this time, maybe get one of those robot vacuum cleaners to deal with the hair (God help it) on wood and stone floors. Cleaning up after a Russell on carpet is SO much harder than on tile or wood but tile and wood are kinda dangerous for Jacks. They're so slippy, and the dogs have such trick hip joints. I've been researching safe surfaces for dogs for months and I just keep turning up sites telling me about the most hard-wearing floor materials that'll resist pets, when I'm really looking for the grippiest floor material so he can tear around like a maniac. Kinda resigned to carpet at this point.
I got a dog shower hose with a plastic brush on the end where the water comes out and I can wash him in the kitchen sink I only use tipid water and scrub his coat while the shampoo is on his coat. It takes a lot of loose hair out the coat which did help With some the shedding but I only do it every 6weeks. That might help some of you ! ?
We rescued a JRT short hair about 7 years ago. This year, for what ever reason I noticed she is shedding a huge amount. I don't know if it is because we just went into summer or if I just never noticed. It drives me insane this amount of hair, need to vac 3 times a day and still can't keep up with keeping hair off the floor. I read that extra virgin olive oil is good for them and to add it to their food. I wonder if there is a reason why she is shedding more? And if there is anything I can do to have her shed less.
Hi. Can u pls do one session on food JRT can n cannot eat, time to best feed a 6 month puppy likes n dislikes... especially on hot summer days of 32 degrees plus centigrade as we hv here in Mumbai India as my puppy seems turn his nose up at everything...home cooked , kibbles , ...
Sorry, but young tips are pretty useless to me. I am trough the second smooth coated Jack and that’s I found out: bathing every 6 weeks is not enough. They collect the smells like urine, roll in other dog’s filth, dead animals smells. Washing every at least week/ week and half is a good practice. Jacks are very active and they tend to find something you need to keep them clean of. Washing with mild shampoo like camomile/ oat are the way to go. Sometimes you rinsing them, but not using shampoo. With dog with allergies there are special shampoo prescribed by vet. Then, shedding can be addressed easy by using special shedding shampoos and conditioners. Then , proceed with the stripping tools/ brushes. Can do that home yourself or groomers do it perfectly for you. If you are a happy furparent of the Jack, then you do care for him with the tools provided. There is pretty stupid keep repeating that the shedding is a bummer, but you just have to get used to. If you are talking about the shedding then show the particular brush, shampoo that you use. Regards.
Dogs and shedding? Just go about it like dust. Do you live in a house or apartment? Then you have dust and must dust. Have a dog? No problem wipe up their hair with the dust and if you have carpet, tile or wood floors you have to vacuum or sweep and mop anyways so get the hair when you vacuum or sweep. Had to do it anyways. :)
I just got done watching gogroomer on YT looking on how to dashed my JRTs check her out! Gives all the info we need to help our JRT. She washes a beagle in the one I watched but gives all the info on what to use to bathe and tc your pup! I'm gonna order her recommendations. And throwing away my "furminator n groom glove" Thanks for your videos! Love lil Luna!

i had skye terrier. great dog. the jack sheds more!
In colder weather use a clothespin and hang out a clump of fur. Birds use it to make their nests warm
This is awesome! Our family & house are covered in Mack's hair! But we love him!

Has anyone ever tried a skin suit? It’s a very thin layered suit that goes from neck to the feet and stops the shedding
Why can't you shave them, it makes sense in theory
Why is my Jack Russell terrier puppy have green and blue eyes
pure bred or mix?

I wonder how your jack russell sit soo silently for such a long time . My JRT.. is very very naughty.. he can't sit in a place more than a minute ..
Mine cannot sit still either. Opposite of Luna.
I have a jack Russel terrier 3 months old but the ears is going up...it's normal? I don't want my dog with the ears up, what do I do?
I've replaced daily brushings with weekly shavings.
I would suggest you check out fast hair growth fortified shampoo to double hair growth.
Would help if u could stop the stupid nouse!!!
What cha' doing Daddy? Showing our team, how beautiful I am?
I just got done watching gogroomer on YT looking on how to dashed my JRTs check her out! Gives all the info we need to help our JRT.
