Well worth a look and building something a bit different is really refreshing as I'm sure you know yourself. What do you think of the Traxxas 1920's sprint car? I hope Traxxas release is as a normal product.
I think it is a fair comment regarding the price compared to say the Optima Mid worlds with the carbon and anodized alloy parts or even a Procat it does seem a tad expensive for what you actually get.
Many people seem to value the car in relation to How many parts are in the kit (same with the JJ ultima) But the attractive thing about this car is that there are so few parts ❤ It is a simple design that is Super easy to work on. A car that is complex and has lots of parts makes it a pain to work on 🙂 ( like the Cat XLS )
That was one of the attractions to the original RC10. It was also robust and had ample room to get at and reconfigure the electronics, along with the ease of adjustments and replacement of whatever you needed, trackside.
I had a choice of the Optima Mid Worlds or the dogfighter, I went for the Optima mid as it seemed better value for money. The price point on the Yokomo does seem slightly high which is a shame
Great video! Love the montage at the end. I really enjoyed this build (after the JJ, and the mid 87). Hope you have as much fun with it. Expensive kit but the simplicity feels expensive (less is more) and the parts breathe quality. I love cars with undertrays as they allow to combine the best of both worlds (runners and shelf queens). The shocks are great but the springs too harsh. You may have to change them to make the car competitive.
I was going to get one but then I saw the price. It’s between $850-$880 over here and for that price you can get a really good Kyosho with some of the electronics. That said it looks great but well out of most peoples budget.
I love this kit it is such a classic. Looking forward to the build video Gavin :). I think for the money the parts could be higher spec though. It really should be full carbon for that price.
@@hunterrider349 Bank of England says £195 is £353 today. To add to that manufacturing has come a long way and the Yen is at an absolute low right now, safe to say they're making very good money on these.
Info from a fella who was in Japan, he said they sell for about 300£ over there. Then you have import, taxes etc... -->500£ (I have not confirmed this)
Nice unboxing Gav. I think it’s a little overpriced myself , but my first impression from driving it was very good , so I expect it to drive well on track Once the right tyres and set up is sorted, I’m Keeping the kit shocks on mine for now see what it’s like at my local club first. Enjoy the build and the buggy. I very much like mine .
Thanks Andy 👍🏻👍🏻 Bit late to the party but you work with what you have lol. It’s an easy to work on so that’s nice for a race buggy. Fit and finish all looks fine and no issues so far. I’m looking forward to racing it at the track and upgrading it along the way.
The car is nice looking and I like the idea of re-re's, but for $630 US dollars there are so many other things I could buy with that money let alone the different kits. I get the metal parts for the motor mount and such, cost a pretty penny, but to me that's something you decide as an add on, not something to throw into a kit to bring it up to 500 quid. IDk, it's not for me, but I hope you enjoy the hell out of it Gav. I hope it gets you a few winners against T&T (Talbot and Tomley). P.S. I got myself the Optima Mid for Christmas and because of you I went the extra mile and got a Le Mans 240 to power it. Though it's on the back burner as I'm still trying to get my Tamiya Subaru Brat finished.
Are you planning racing the Kyosho mid since it is also 4wd and vintage and comparing against super dog fighter? Would be interested in results. Thanks for all the videos!
Really? I went much lower in this one to try and make sure that wasn't the case. On my ending Mac, it's set to a level you can almost not hear the music at all in this video. Are you using headphones, TV or PC with speakers?
£500 for the kit and £130+ for new shocks puts it £200 or nearly 50% more than the Mid Worlds or 100% more than a ProCat classic. I'll be interested to see how it goes when you take it racing, whether it's worth that kind of money and if spare parts are easily attainable....
No comparison. Worth every penny. Look the price of an Avante. Beautiful to look at but rubbish on the track. This and the later models were absolute weapons on the track and rare too
I must admit, it's cool for sure, but does not push any buttons for me. The looks are... weird for me. The rims... ufff. You dont get much for the money and thats it. But i look forward to you racing it with the gang. I like the Schumacher much more tbh.
The brutal music on the last minute is really something i wish you will avoid in futur videos. What good is it making? It's distracting us from the only thing worth of interest at this moment, the picture.
Easily 50% of the music in his videos is annoying and distracting. Not sure who decided there needs to be music over every piece of video on the Internet but that really needs to stop. At least half of his "build videos" are unwatchable because of the music.
@@RCKickschannelHaving to raise and lower the volume throughout a video is not a solution. I will just continue with my current solution of ending the video when it gets annoying. I try to give you the watch time on every video but sometimes I just have to throw in the towel.
Awesome video Gavin! Came so close to buying one yesterday.

This! Such a simple setup, it was so easy to dial in this car and go win.

Cool looking buggy. Looking forward to the build video.
Coming soon
Awesome look forward to thr build and how it races 👍
Patiently waiting for mine pre ordered but going to be 2nd batch
you can paint the spoiler like we did in the good old days... use a paintbrush instead of a spraycan - gets you deep inside all corners ;)
Or what I used to do, along with countless others around my area, decals only...no paint on the wing at all.

Super cool rc Gavin, I’m looking forward to the paint job and part 2 finished result. Pretty sure it’s gonna look fantastic.❤
Thanks 👍

Nice, looking forward to the build.
I've notice you have the predator XRS on the stand
It will be on the show soon for a first look :)
I always liked the Dog Fighter chassis and set up, but that body, sorry I can't love it. Gav, please do a non box art livery for it!
Nice appropriate background music for the Dog fighter lol

Looks more like a £300 kit to me, I think you’re paying an extra £200 for nostalgia 😂
Yokomo know they can squeeze us on this one 😃
In 1998 the dogfighter was £195,allowing for inflation that's £740 in today's money, so it would appear to be good value for money

will Yoko release more of these or have I missed the boat ? I thought Tower Hobbies would get a preorder and never did.
More coming now. UK beginning of Feb 2024
Cool video Gavin👌👌👌👌
Are you planning racing the Kyosho mid since it is also 4wd and vintage and comparing against super dog fighter? Would be interested in results. Thanks for all the videos!
No it’s a shelf queen as it’s a limited release so replacing it down the line would be expensive. Try finding a Fantom 60th already
$470 in the US before any discounts. Sounds like you are getting a bit screwed in the UK for whatever reason.
We always get screwed in the UK when it comes to prices.
Just some constructive criticism. I found the backing music over powering, couldnt hear some of your commentary. Dont know if it was just me?
Really? I went much lower in this one to try and make sure that wasn't the case. On my ending Mac, it's set to a level you can almost not hear the music at all in this video. Are you using headphones, TV or PC with speakers?
Just through my phone. Ill try on my TV later. As I say might be just my end. Wonder if others have had the issue? Either way nice video!
Hi Gavin, i am thinking 4000kv and85 amp controller... will this be too much?
I’m putting more than that at 10.5T so it should be OK. Just make sure the slipper is setup correctly
If that car doesn't increase your position in the You Tuber races I don't know what will. £500!!
Still undecided on getting one to be honest. I love it but do I pull the trigger?
If you fancy giving vintage racing a go, 100%! If you are just after a shelf queen, I don’t know.
Think I'm going to wait a couple years till I can buy a used one for about £250 😁

I wonder if this sells well enough, Yokomo will do d re-re of the Works ‘94 or ‘95?
I would think so.
Isn't the diff/motor mount magnesium?
I hope not .. it was so damn weak on original it broke every time and had to be replaced with quality rpm brand nylon strong plastic one
Nostalgia tax!
Always lol
Wow £500
I guess it’s going to be a rare buggy at that price
Not a limited production run and the first batch sold out almost instantly so hard to tell yet
No comparison. Worth every penny. Look the price of an Avante. Beautiful to look at but rubbish on the track. This and the later models were absolute weapons on the track and rare too
Is saying pound instead of pounds a slang thing? It's a serious question by the way. I hear a lot of people doing it.
Saying £350 pound or £350 pounds is the same thing when talking
£350 quid or notes can also be used 😊
@@RCKickschannel Got it! It is so crazy how a shared language can be so different!!!
@@philipwood3663 I have heard quid before, but never notes.
500 quid! 😂 Doesn't matter what logic gymnastics someone does there is no way the manufacturing involved in that kit justifies that price.

Fair enough!
DHL managed to lose mine 🤬
Bugger, let's hope they find it asap.
its no Kyosho
No it’s a Yokomo
Yokomo ain’t no Jokomo. Imo
